#thenealshomestead #elderberry Even though it's July I'm going to try rooting some Elderberry cuttings. See how I do it. Ending music by Knobtown Skiffle Band
From my experience you need to take cuttings from the second year’s growth or if this years growth it need to have developed a bark. Green cuttings don’t take most times. Hope this helps.
I’m in Maine and have been looking for elderberries everywhere but haven’t been able to find them. I finally broke down and bought a plant and my goats got out and found it. They did a good job of eating most of the leaves. 🥴🥴
You may be right, but i haven't investigated what to do with the blossoms. I mostly want to find the berries when they're ready and steam the juice out for use in winter. Thanks for watching, Brenda.
I know you have probably answered this question a hundred times over the past 4 years but did you have success? I hope so! Thank you for your time. Hope you have a blessed day.
Thank you for sharing this with us. I recently became interested in elderberries and your video answered the questions I had about cuttings. The only outstanding question I have is what camera are you using ? Just curious. Thanks again.
It'll work, I'll bet. I got a long stem rose to sprout a node and grow roots in 1983 in Holland. I started it in a 16 ounce Sprite bottle and left some of the Sprint in there. Sprite: It's plant food too?
The elderberries flowers do resemble queen Ann's lace but the elderberry clusters are much bigger. Each little flower makes a small purple berry berry amongst a whole cluster. In my opinion, the flavor isn't that great but there's aroused to be a storing medicinal value to the juice extracted from the berries. It's any immunity builder and good to take during the winter. Thai you, Barbara!
They did grow. I put them in six inch pots and they grew. I decided not to plant them in the ground. This spring I have others that in growing. I think these new ones should be better specimens.
I got some cuttings of elderberries now, they are rooting & sprouting now! Do I need to keep them indoors for winter or can I go ahead & plant out side! PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE!
I’ve been looking for wild elderberry plants here in Ohio for years. I haven’t any luck at all. Elderberry Jam is my absolute favorite, but it’s so expensive here. Have a great weekend.😁❤️ Cheryl
I always without a doubt find them all over the side of the road in the ditches. I live in Tn now and Fl before and both places had ditches covered in elderberries. Hope you find some!
The Neals' Homestead, great! Thanks for the update! How big are they now? Any pictures? I just put some in water and in some in sand to see what I end up with.
Interesting to share the process with someone else doing it at the same time. Are you interested in doing a video? I know you have a channel but don't post on it much. Let me know if you're interested in collaborating with the process.
My gosh. Your property is beautiful and your plants are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! We live in the woods and its pretty bushy, but we like it.

Thanks for sharing we have a lot of Elderberries here in parts of Maine as well .. 👍✌️☮️❤️

Very cool Janette, I like experimenting myself - especially when it doesn't cost you anything but a little bit of time.
thank you, Nicki! I sure hope it works, but even if it doesn't, i think it was worth the effort.
Hope they all root for you!! I have 3 planted out front and they groow well in my clay soil:)
How cool Janette, I sure want elderberries , and I hope they do well for you.
Thank you, Wendy! I hope it works too!
The B2 flyover never gets old ❤️
Did it work? I haven’t been able to find the second video with the outcome...
It never hurts to try. I think I would harvest the blossoms before they cut them down. They have medicinal properties the same as the berries.

I did showed you the picks hope it works for you glad you are doing a video on it

Great to know how to do this!!
I hope it works! We shall see. They look good at this point.
Did it work?
When they wilt that much getting them home, I would cut 2 inches off the bottom to make sure the stems aren't air locked...

I hope you're right! I know that elderberries are ridiculously easy to propagate. Thank you!
Best of luck with them Mrs Janette. But they look a lot like Queen Ann's lace what's the difference and what do they taste like?

How did the experiment go? Did they grow? Feedback?

do you think best to start in water? could i add clonex to the water?
I think they root easily in water out soil. They just need to be wet.
@@TheNealsHomestead Hi, did they root for you?
He did it work?

@@noelle8103 a fellow RUclipsr sent me some really nice cutting two years ago. Now I’m overrun with them 😂😁🌸
Hi Janette,
How did the Elderberry clippings sprout? Was it a success?
yes, they did great. They actually grew roots better than some that i did late winter, which is when its recommended.
The Neals' Homestead, great! Thanks for the update! How big are they now? Any pictures? I just put some in water and in some in sand to see what I end up with.
🐍🐍 you would not see me in those tall Weeds either! 🐍🐍
And mine are in full sun and I haven't changed the water at all

@@TheNealsHomestead sure I can do a video on it as well
So….did this work?
Yes
You can root elderberry any time just put it in water.
thank you
I've been invited to get elderberry cuttings. How would I do this?
@@Dasani_water_drinkerget them and mail them to me? Jk hope you were successful
Don’t think you should of left the leaves because all their energy will go to the leaves to stay alive and you won’t get any roots.
