The best, most straightforward tutorial yet. Thank you so much. I have a shoot tomorrow and I usually hire a videographer. You just enhanced my confidence level!
good video, Make sure your lock is not set, otherwise you aperture won't adjust (thats what I did). Although the setting adjustments just show up on the led display not on screen. I have to find that option.
Hii sir I have a query At the Starting of the video there was Showing of press start/stop button to activate movie shooting In my dslr also there is a same error any solution for that problem My eye view mode is not activating in my canon eos 7d Pls help sir
Hey, I have a Canon 7D. Whenever I shoot in video mode, it doesn't last very long (8 Seconds). It'd just shut itself OFF. How do I fix this? I want it to shoot video longer. thanks
I don't think I can help. I no longer own the camera and didn't have that problem when I did own it. Possibilities: ours overheated and shut off but that typically took ~15 min. the first time then quicker once it was hot. The camera does limit the length of the recording, but that's 12 min., not a few seconds. Make sure you have a memory card that is large enough and fast enough to record video.
I no longer own the camera. However, here's a link I found: www.dummies.com/photography/cameras/canon-camera/how-to-change-audio-recording-options-on-your-canon-eos-7d-mark-ii/ If you plan to edit your video at all, another option would be to use a separate audio recorder. You could either plug a microphone into it and place the mic near the sound source, which would improve the quality, or you could place the recorder itself near the source.
Thanks for that. I'm a pro but about to shoot in like 2 hours with this camera and I've never done it before. Your tutorials may sound silly to some, I suggest them to try changing the settings in front of a client when you don't know what dial to turn ;)
Besafe Admin We've sold this camera precisely because we couldn't shoot long video with it. We film a lot of dance performances in the spring, and wanted to be able to use it for that purpose when needed. One issue with long video is that the format requires you to stop and restart shooting every ~14 minutes, but that could be a momentary stop. For us, that wasn't a problem because we could just stop and restart between dance numbers. The real problem for us was that the camera begins to overhead and give warnings after about 15 minutes of steady shooting. I think it's because of the type of memory card it writes to. After the camera starts to overhead, there is no cure but to let it cool down or Canon warns that the recording may be unreliable.
Besafe Admin I think all or most current DSLR cameras have a maximum recording time of ~14 min., but you can stop and start almost immediately. Assuming you can live with that, I asked Frank Tybush, the speaker in this video, what kind of DSLR camera he has. He bought it after all the problems I had with the Canon 7D. Frank's comments: Mine is the Rebel t3i, and other than the stop/start, i've run it for shows and never had a problem, as long as you have enough batteries or an external source of power. And the kind of great thing about the t3i is if you have the money to buy the 7D, you can save a ton by getting the t3i and put that saved money back into it, in the form of different lenses and accessories.
Finally someone actually shows us not only tells us. Thank you sir !
