That scene with the slow reveal that Carl was shot and then Rick & Michonne leaping into action to get him to safety was truly badass.
Their love for Carl was so evident in those moments…especially on Michonne’s face.
    It really was great.
We always knew Rick loved Carl, but we got to really see how much Michonne had grown to love him, too.

I don’t think the Wolf’s last scene is supposed to show that he’s a changed man, but just that he is CAPABLE of change, proving Morgan’s “where there is life, there is possibility” correct.

Sounds about right. But also I legitimately don’t believe the guy would have ever fit into their group he’s still too much of a risk. He thought murder was “saving people” he also had zero emotion whatsoever which leads me to believe he’s a sociopath and there really is no coming back from that, just glimpses of humanity.

i think the b plot does make sense for the story, morgan has learned that no one is truly 'too far gone' when eastman is able to help him, but carol is also right in that it's not necessarily worth the risk to help him when there's other people who may be hurt in helping him, when he helps denise that of course doesn't absolve him of everything bad he's done but does prove hes not just evil through and through and has the potential to be better, rick later agrees with this thought process in s9 when he tried to help the saviours integrate with the rest of them

I think some people were definitely too far gone, but Morgan was right about this particular wolf.
People from the show that I would put in the too far gone category are as followed.
Dave. Tony, the Governor, Terminus group, most of the dead cops from Dawn's group at the hospital, Simon, the savior that killed Henry's brother, and the one that intentionally pissed his pants when Jesus caught him, and of course the claimers, bad guys from the prison group, and most of the whisperers.
Those would be the main ones that got air time that were in the kill or be killed category. Definitely some of the background Saviors, and Wolves, Nebraska group characters as well.

Idk man, the wolf was too far gone imo. Just because he saved Denise (and inadvertently saved Carl) doesn't mean much because he never would have done that if he knew he was going to get bit. He probably just wanted to take the doctor with him for selfish reasons... and when he saved her at the end he was really already dead - so that's great and all but if he was alive and well I am certain he would have been a dangerous psychopath... if they did save him there is no way he wouldn't have done some super fucked up shit later.

  • @jwaximus1113

The B plot with Carol killing the Wolf was important because if he hadn't died, the resources wouldn't have been available to save Carl including Denise.

    • @mace3632
      @mace3632 10 месяцев назад +6

Agreed - in the video he says that "it's made out like we are supposed to feel bad for the Wolf" but i don't see that at all. From what the show has depicted I think it is pretty clear that Denise has very poor judgement - and Morgan is fanatical about the ideology that saved his life... no one else in Alexandria would have even thought for a second that the Wolf is worth saving - I don't think the writers really expected us to agree with Morgan or Denise here.
Although there is a good chance that Denise only said what she said so that Wolf would bring her to the infirmary where she would be safe - and she probably did intend to honor her promise to save his life (by cutting off his arm) - I really don't think that she believed he was redeemed. At least I hope she isn't THAT naive, but it is Denise we are talking about here so maybe she was that niave.

Anyway yeah they do that all the time in the show, they’ll substitute one person for another and in some ways it has made some situations more interesting but I still think it was a mistake to kill Carl off and I swear from like season 4 from when she killed Lizzie and Micha (Mika?) on I thought they were building up to her death cuz I remember thinking oh well I guess they decided to re write it, who knows but I’m glad Carol made it, she’s one of the better characters barring season 10 in my humble opinion

I have to disagree with Rick forgetting about "The New World" This was a reference to TWD comics volume "A Larger World" and a hint at us entering that chapter, and we can see Rick chasing after the new world by working with the Hilltop. When Rick brutally slaughtered the Saviors, it was to protect the Hilltop, and be in good favor with them for the future of Alexandria. In his mind I'd imagine he thought he was doing the world a favor by taking out people on the same level as the Governor or Terminus. I will say though, after losing Glenn and Abraham, and watching Negan suck the life out of his community, he completely forgot what he said to Carl and saw red, and it took losing Carl for him to realize he needed to stop and set a good example to the communities for the sake of their future.

    - Abraham in uniform (he was my favorite character whenever he came around and damn it really developed his story)
    - the eventual foreshadowing to negan
    - Daryl with the rpg
    - what actually happened to Carl and how it eventually shapes Rick
    - the merciless rick grimes killing spree. which it still proves that he could be as much of a killer as negan was, but never tapped into that again whenever he saw Glenn and Abraham die

My personal favourite of the entire series. TWD was at a really high point, at this episodes has everything that I want from a TWD episode. It's a great climax, with shocking moments, action against human and walkers, crazy rick and having all the cast together fighting.
About the wolve and denise storyline, I find it to be great, one of those moments were I felt that Morgan way of thinking made sense and about Rick's speech at the end, I don't believe that he went against what he said to carl but that the whole all out war was overwhelming and rick just did what he had to but in the end he wanted to build a good world for carl. I still believe carl was not the one who would make rick change, Morgan will always be the one who had that job

My favorite part of Season 6 was Carl and Ron’s beef over Enid. Enid became attracted to Carl and him putting effort to keep her from going outside Alexandria showed that he actually cared about her. Both of them being young but skilled enough to survive on their own was what made them ship, it’s especially shown how strong Enid is when she says to Carl “It’s their (walkers) world, we just live in it.”. Ron on the other hand, who is obviously not prepared to survive in this world, combined with the abuse he suffered, Pete being executed, suicidal attempts, and blaming Carl for “stealing” his girlfriend who obviously doesn’t want to be with him. He starts noticing that Carl and Enid are spending time together and alone more often and gets jealous. Carl tries to comfort him but Ron declines, and when Carl tries to recruit him to go after Enid, he is too selfish to do so. He gets even more pissed off when he refers to Enid as Ron’s “friend” which Ron quickly corrects him. Jealous of how compassionate he is, Ron tries to stop Carl but fails. Then he threatens to tell Rick. After telling Rick, he asks if he can give him lessons on how to use a gun. Here we can all assume he wants Carl dead.
During all of this, Ron also expresses his hatred for Rick towards both Carl and Jessie, who had fell in love with him. Saying that he is dangerous and is just going to get more people killed.
Before the Wolves attack Alexandria, Ron stole a gun from the armory and sneaks behind Carl in an attempt to kill him before the attack. During the raid, Ron is attacked but saved by Carl. Seeing Enid behind him, Ron held onto his ego and refused Carl’s offer for safety in the house.
When the walkers break through, Ron becomes even more hostile towards Carl directly when he attempts to lock him in the garage and kill him. Carl tries to calm him down but quickly realizes his plan. The two fight leading to walkers breaking in while Ron waits for the end. Rick and Jessie manage to break the door down. After hearing the fight the two demand to know what was happening, but Carl lies and says it was the walkers. They head up stairs but Rick and Jessie remained unconvinced. Carl holds Ron at gunpoint and orders to give him the gun and says that he understands Ron’s pain but gives him a reality check and tells him that Pete was an asshole. Ron argues that Rick is a killer, but Carl counters and says Pete isn’t different. The two uneasily put aside their differences and later hide amongst the walkers with Rick, Michonne, Jessie, and Sam. Sam has a panic attack, despite all of them trying to comfort him, he is devoured by the walkers. Jessie also loses it and is consumed as well. Rick, slices her arm off to save Carl. But Ron aims his gun at him. Blaming him for his family’s deaths, but is stabbed by Michonne. Causing Ron’s hand to clench and he misses Rick, but shoots Carl in the eye. I like this because it mirrors the Season 2 conflict between Rick and Shane. It sets up the story of new Carl before the war with the Saviors and establishes his relationship with Enid. Enid is convinced to stay and has someone that actually loves her

Most of the time in the season I was mentally checking out because many parts of the show felt like it was repeating itself from previous seasons. The many losses incurred during the show was mentally draining and honestly left me depressed after Ricks’ recent love interest died. It was however very inspiring seeing Rick and co. along with the citizens of Alexandria fight off the walkers to defend their homes. Why just dead stop.3 I know Alexander Breckenridge said she wanted to stay, but they didn’t want her to. People can say what they will about everyone's "arcs" but the biggest themes than transcend any one character, episode, or even season was graciously addressed by the end here. The "gang" proved itself to be a community. Every single person, even the cowards, earned their right to live in peace. Glenn and Maggie get to live happily ever after.
