  • "After the group was split up from the Governors attack on the prison, they all focused on trying to find a new place to live. The obvious candidate was this place called Terminus, which had tons of different signs telling people there for a sanctuary for all that arrived."

    This is probably my favorite episode of the series and I think it’s because there’s so much unexpected payoff. We get payoff to Terminus, the Carol/Rick storyline, our crew meeting up after 8 episodes apart, etc. This episode also cemented Carol as my favorite character in the series.

      @KingSchafer1 Год назад +31

      This is where the comic Carol and the Live Action Carol deviate. Carol kills herself in the prison by going crazy and letting a walker that they had caught to try to study eat her alive... Womp-womp.

    • @primroseprom
      @primroseprom Год назад +31

      We also get payoff for smaller things. For example, in S4E4, Carol and Rick come across a couple that clearly have no survival skills and have only made it thus far because they got lucky. In the episode, Rick wants to take them back to the prison but Carol has them go off & scavenge before they leave.
      Later on into the episode, Carol & Rick come across the corpse of the girl. And the guy is no where to be found. Rick wants to keep waiting for him, but Carol insists they leave. We don’t see the guy again until S5E1 where he’s almost immediately killed by the cannibals.
      It’s such a small thing but I love it so much. Like, they didn’t have to finish up that small, almost completely inconsequential storyline, but they did, and the episode is all the better for it.

      Agreed. I feel like the impact Terminus had on our group was greater than the impact the entire Saviour arc had on our group. Which is odd considering terminus arc lasted a whole 3 episodes, while the Saviours arc was a whopping 2+ seasons.
      I personally think that speaks volumes as to how little this show is character driven compared to how it used to be back in the earlier seasons. The show used to really dive into the characters and how they developed and how they were impacted by certain events. Hell, remember Daryl being hesitant about following the train tracks in Season 6B. A clear call back to the group's journey to Terminus and how Daryl was still haunted by how that all ended.
      I get that there was a time jump, but post All Our War... I don't really feel the weight of everything that happened with the Saviours, the characters don't feel like they changed as a result of what happened. Just kinda felt like they slapped on some new make up and got on with another day. Might have something to do with the fact that the show now has a cast of about 100.

IMO if they focused more S6 onwards and truly perfected and compressed the saviours arc this could've been a magnum opus. I still love The Walking Dead because it is one of the only contemporary zombie shows with solid world building. Despite the differences the graphic novels are worth checking out (if you haven't already) and Kirkman frequently discusses his own ideas within them. What I also appreciate from this whole larger storyline is that Rick was right. He wanted to go back to kill the survivors - knowing that there would be some and that they would cause trouble, maybe not for *them* but for someone. The group talks him out of it and as a result the surviving Termites proved to be threat later on.
    This feeds into Rick's conclusion later where he calls for a pre-emptive attack of the Savioar satellite station, I think.

      Negan's uncensored introduction is the perfect example of how NOT to use expletives. I'm actually glad they censored Negan's language in the show, ESPECIALLY his introduction. I get that the uncensored version is more faithful to the comics, but Negan's use of the F word every other word REALLY kills all tension and what he's saying completely loses weight.
      The censored version we got was far more intimidating and unnerving. Someone saying "Fuck" "Fucking" "Fuckety" "Fucks" every other word sounds like a child who has just learned the word "Fuck". At that point, it's just embarrassing and not imposing at all.

What a large portion of men are not understanding about her is that she does nothing by Brute Force. No one thinks that this small woman could win a fist fight. It's her strength of character and her sharpening of her Wiles. She thinks things through, and she uses strategy. I hear a ton of our male fans say she's not all that. You obviously are unable to see the cleverness that was used by The Men Who developed this character for us. Never pretending that she was some physical powerhouse. Every character in this show, Bar None, had their strengths and flaws. I'm so happy that Sarah Wayne Callies fought for this character to stay on the show.

    You can really see how terminus effected rick later on when he gets to Alexandria and tells them to keep their walls closed as the terminus people used to welcome people and were invaded, rick not only doesn’t trust people at this point but only sees people as potential threats. It’s kind of like how after the ocean side people met the survivors they chose to kill anyone on sight as they couldn’t risk the same again, rick was warning them ass he’s seen what kindness has led too

    Yup. I remember on premiere night. So satisfying. Not 1 disappointing stone left unturned. It could've been a finale. As u said. Even if it was released as a mini in between seasons 4 and 5 movie it would of worked. 3 full acts. With the Tarantino style flashback story telling.

    I really love this episode and season 5 of TWD especially because they get rid of the antagonist very quickly, I found it more interesting when post apo zombie type of medium doesn't really have a main antagonist, just the permanente threat of the walker... Because most of time these arc are more centered around about making you question your humanity and give you moral dilemma to deal with, and they usually have a daunting ambiance (especially in TWD). Season 2 was the perfect illustration of that, the rivalry between Shane and Rick while they are both in there own right, the choice to kill or spare Randal, should we treat the walker the same way we treat our deads or just as threat and massacre them...
    My favorites episode of the show are the one without real enemies , season 1 and 2, the two episodes where Morgan has to clear and is at eastman's, season 5 as I sayd earlier or that arc of the massive herd in season 6, sure there's the wolf but Carol destroy them pretty quickly, all of these are always tension packed and I loved them, the no sanctuary is the perfect start for a season like by just destroying the enemy...

    So about a year ago, Me and my boyfriend decided to binge watch twd. He had never seen it before, other than a few episodes from the first three seasons when they came out. He had no interest at first when I asked him if he wanted to watch it with me. Later that night we could not figure out what we wanted to watch so he started falling asleep while I was surfing Netflix. I decided since he was going to sleep that I would just put this episode on bc I hadn't seen it in a while and it was one of my favorites. I realized about 10 mins into the episode that he never actually fell asleep and he was actually watching it very intensely. I just looked at him like???? and after the episode ended he took the remote and started 1x1. We watched the whole thing after that and I was so happy.
