Repertoire: The BEST and WORST Glazunov Symphony Cycles

Why are Glazunov's symphonies so shamefully neglected? Maybe it's because they usually get played like bargain-basement Tchaikovsky, when in fact they are quite different--and very fetchingly so. For some reason, on records at least, it seems that non-Russian conductors appreciate these differences much better than the composer's countrymen, as you can hear for yourself in this survey of six complete symphony cycles.
