I've Had my a40 for about 3 years and they still work even though I am very clumsy and keep dropping them from my desk. They went from Xbox one to PC, boy astro headsets are really durable. 10/10 I like that new headset.
Had the arctis 3’s and loved them. I still use them as regular headphones, but I’m getting the a40s. I would love the arctis pro, but of course its pc and ps4 only, and I’m an xbox user.
Kojoizfreshz they did but it doesn’t have a mix amp or anything, just a dongle so it’s not as good as the Arctis pro wireless. It’s preset much a higher priced Arctis 7
I bought mine in 2013.. My headset is still superB.. the original mixamp hisses now so I bought the new mixamp Pro TR... This mixamp is really bad.. the sound is very tinny and I do not enjoy it as much as my originals... I just received these today from astro.com and I'm returning them tomorrow... I am very disappointed... after 6 years of greatness i've been let down... what direction to go now?
Purity262 mine still have the original mix app and it still runs and sounds great. All I’ve done is updated the software and bought a new cart cable. I’ve had them sense 2013 too.
I have the white Astro A40 with Mixamp Pro TR for Xbox One. I also have another Mixamp Pro TR for Sony Playstation. One day I noticed a loud static noise coming from the headset on my White Mixamp Pro TR, I then pluged it into the black Playstation Mixamp Pro TR and there was the same noise. I came to the conclusion that my inline mute cable was causing this noise so I just purchased 2 inline mute cables for the A40s TR. With the one of the brand new inline mute cables the static noise is still there the only way it goes away is to hit the mute button on the cable. When muted everything works as normal but I cant chat with anyone. I know it must be the headset now that the cables are fine and both Mixamp Pro TRs do the same exact thing. I forgot to tell you in my previous request that this mic static comes and goes I would say about 70 percent of the time I can chat and there isn't any static/noise. I would like to get this problem figured out wo sending in any of my hardware, due to the fact that I rely 100 percent on this headset for my Xbox One, PS4, and PC audio. If your wondering why I have a black PS4 Mixamp Pro TR as well it is because I bought the Mixamp for PS4 wo a headset for 130 and then the price of cables. So I have a fairly large collection of Astro products/wires.
Reynard Dingle can’t see anywhere on the website on what “V2” audio actually is so that being the only difference with the headphones I wouldn’t upgrade. With the new mix amp it looks like they made it to where it’s easier to do a stream setup but other than that if you own TR’s now I wouldn’t spend the money to upgrade. Not ground breaking enough to upgrade. Hollow will say otherwise because he’s sponsored. Gotta make that dough lol
I purchased the latest A40 and Mixamp Pro TR on the 15th and got them yesterday. One huge oversight that I found with the Mixamp Pro TR is that it’s missing a power button. If you’re using the Mixamp attached to the Xbox you need to turn on the Mixamp after the Xbox in order for the mic to be used. The workaround for not having a power button is unplugging and re plugging the Mixamp into the Xbox every time you want to use it.

Idek why headsets do this because footsteps don't have are heard in the high end. I guess they only do this so explosions can sound better, but that doesn't make any sense for someone that plays more competitively. Sound stage and imaging are also bad on Astros. for the price of A40 or A50 you could get much better audio. The plastic feels cheap too imo. The mic is also ehhh

Sleeping Mike, what kind of high res audio files you listen? I have Audeze Mobius which is kinda decent and supports high res, but i have no idea where can i get actual high res sound to listen?
It would be nice if they added a headphone cable that connects to your headset (without the mic input) and the other end would connect to a professional mixer (again without the mic input) for a hard crystal clear connection. If you have ever tried this, you know with a regular Astro headphone cable when pushed all the way into an AUX connection that's connected to a professional mixer, the audio gets messed up. Now you have to play around and somewhat pull out the cable plus twist so the audio delivers a clear and loud sound. Another thing I don't like is the location where the cable connects into the headphone. The mixer though I'm liking a lot. Most likely it's still the "same" mixer from previous models. Personally, the price and the tiny little changes are not worth it to me. Is it worth getting one if you never bought one? Yes. I'll continue to wait for a model to invest in at a later time. Overall looking nice.
OK it look better tan the old version BUT I don't understand that the older version of Mixamp TR does 10Hz-24,000 Hz and the new one (2019) does less better 20 - 24,000 Hz. The low frequenties are better on the old one. Hope the result of the new A40 goes well with the new mixamp. I've got the Mixamp TR older version with MMX-300 2nd Gen, must I change for this new feature??? Anyway thanks for your great video.
My experience is the A40s have always been junk (haven’t tried these but they haven’t changed much) the mix amp on the other hand is everything. Don’t get sucked in to buying the A40s just because they can come as a combo

So I got these and just wanted to share my thoughts.... By far the best for gaming, I could hear everythingggg even at a distance, also the best as far as directional audio I knew what was coming from where at all times (gunshots, explosions, footsteps). Mic as well as headset audio is a step up from the first generation. Now the mix amp, which is not so great :( one thing I hate is that the mix amp has no power button so it stays on no matter what (even when you shutdown the console)! That's a big no no for me especially at $267 taxes in. Weird part about it it's actually a step backwards since the previous generation amp does have this feature (scratches head). I firmly believe that at this price point the product should be perfect, and I do not want to be forced to plug/unplug the flimsy USB cable every single time I turn on/off my console. Secondly I was having trouble joining party chats and my headset couldn't be found.... So back to my previous complaint I found myself having to disconnect and then reconnect the USB on start ups regardless which is pretty sad. I returned mine, however if Astro come's out with an updated version of v.2 I would purchase it with my eyes closed!
Cool design to the mix amp but not something I would upgrade anytime soon I enjoy my Neon red Astro A40s had them since 2013 and they work pristine clean
They are awesome headsets to get...if you can afford them. Most of us are not RUclipsrs who get them for free. I paid a lot of money for the ones i have. They have their flaws also but still love them.

Genuinely no joke my Astro A40s halo edition have lasted me 7 years, only in 2020 was there problems with the cushions etc, I can genuinely say that the headset for me has been incredible it’s just the price of the headset tr edition with the mix amp pro is quite expensive, However, thinking about it, the headset I have now being the 2014 halo edition astros were gifted to me and priced at £150 (Astro A40 Halo Edition with mix amp m80) and has lasted 6/7 years which is basically 26 pounds a year assuming they have gotten better from the 2014/15 model it’s worth it. However is the Mixamp worth the additional 100 pounds

Nyx Pigeon you could get a pair of Beyerdynamic dt 990 pros and a Schiit Magni 3 for less and that’s cheaper than a pair of a40s. Unless you’re on console, (which if you’re on console you shouldn’t be spending this amount of money on headphones anyway) it’s not that good of a deal

A40 are garbage period. There is no sound stage whatsoever. Imaging also sucks. These headphones are filled with bass which just destroys the mid and high which is where the footsteps are. Astros are also terrible for music, vocals aren’t present and the the bass isn’t quality it’s not punchy at all. Astros are the beats of headphones. They charge an enormous amount of money for headphones that suck. A40 should be $80 max. RUclips usually gamers don’t know what they’re talking about in terms of sound.
I might have to buy another pair of them. Got the 10th edition ones. And there still good along with the mixamp. It’s helped me a lot with cod or Apex Legends?
Is there any difference between the two console-versions aside from compatibility? Don't have a console, not planning to get one anytime soon since I'm full-on PC. Bought Arctis Pro's (wired) but they're too small for me, so since I'm familiar with Astro A40s (got the 2013s rn) I want to try these out.
Questions: do you have access to the command center software without the amp? Example, if I just got the a40 tr without the amp is there any custom software or do you only get the command software when you buy the mixamp pro? What about the amp that just plugs into the controller? Does that give you access to command center? Or do you only get command center customization with the mixamp pro? Also do V2 improve sound awareness like footsteps?
Hope they make a new a50 set, primarily because of the issue the base station has with WiFi channels using AC. I had to lower the channels to not go above 80 because the headset was cutting out constantly from the interference.
Have you tried the Arctis Pro's? I just got them and after playing with the EQ and settings for a bit they really blew me away. The two batteries it comes with is far and away the best feature.
So I went to Best Buy to get these after seeing your video.... the person there ordered them for me because they didn’t have em in stock. Come to find out she ordered me the PlayStation version but I need to Xbox one version.... do you know if it matters which one you get? Will the ps4 version work on my Xbox? Shouldn’t it not matter since it’s not connecting to the console via Bluetooth but instead just using a fiber optic cable?

I’ve just got these working lol, I first got them a couple of weeks ago now and the mic was awful. I changed my noise gate to streaming and then it was fine. Best headset I’ve ever had

Genuinely no joke my Astro A40s halo edition have lasted me 7 years, only in 2020 was there problems with the cushions etc, I can genuinely say that the headset for me has been incredible it’s just the price of the headset tr edition with the mix amp pro is quite expensive, However, thinking about it, the headset I have now being the 2014 halo edition astros were gifted to me and priced at £150 (Astro A40 Halo Edition with mix amp m80) and has lasted 6/7 years which is basically 26 pounds a year assuming they have gotten better from the 2014/15 model it’s worth it.
However is the Mixamp worth the additional 100 pounds
Quick question, can you setup up the Mixamp to use both your PC and the Xbox at the same time? I used to be able to do it with the older model, so I was wondering if its possible with this one as well, thanks!
I have the old version and they are not loud at all but i just got there controller I also bought the turtle beach pro headphones You can use on playstation xbox or PC the sound is amazing the best pro gaming Head phones to date.i will wait I don't know about them I will wait and see what other people have to say

I just bought the Astros A40s with the mixamp Pro just a few weeks ago. I beleive they are the 2015 ones in white. How much different are these new ones compared to the older versions? Kind of pisses me off that they made these since i JUST bought mine lol

Guys you do realise this is the same price as Audio Technica AD700x, a Yeti Nano mic and a Fiio E10k amp/dac. The same price, but WAY better quality than the Astros. And upgradeable xD
Nyx Pigeon you could get a pair of Beyerdynamic dt 990 pros and a Schiit Magni 3 for less and that’s cheaper than a pair of a40s. Unless you’re on console, (which if you’re on console you shouldn’t be spending this amount of money on headphones anyway) it’s not that good of a deal

A40 are garbage period. There is no sound stage whatsoever. Imaging also sucks. These headphones are filled with bass which just destroys the mid and high which is where the footsteps are. Astros are also terrible for music, vocals aren’t present and the the bass isn’t quality it’s not punchy at all. Astros are the beats of headphones. They charge an enormous amount of money for headphones that suck. A40 should be $80 max. RUclips usually gamers don’t know what they’re talking about in terms of sound.
The amp that Astro makes is the only good thing that they sell. It’s actually good

Bought Arctis Pro's (wired) but they're too small for me, so since I'm familiar with Astro A40s (got the 2013s rn) I want to try these out.
Questions: do you have access to the command center software without the amp? Example, if I just got the a40 tr without the amp is there any custom software or do you only get the command software when you buy the mixamp pro? What about the amp that just plugs into the controller? Does that give you access to command center? Or do you only get command center customization with the mixamp pro? Also do V2 improve sound awareness like footsteps?

Hope they make a new a50 set, primarily because of the issue the base station has with WiFi channels using AC. I had to lower the channels to not go above 80 because the headset was cutting out constantly from the interference.
Have you tried the Arctis Pro's? I just got them and after playing with the EQ and settings for a bit they really blew me away. The two batteries it comes with is far and away the best feature.
So I went to Best Buy to get these after seeing your video.... the person there ordered them for me because they didn’t have em in stock. Come to find out she ordered me the PlayStation version but I need to Xbox one version.... do you know if it matters which one you get? Will the ps4 version work on my Xbox? Shouldn’t it not matter since it’s not connecting to the console via Bluetooth but instead just using a fiber optic cable?
