Its good to see someone repairing damages instead of arbitrarily swapping lightly damaged parts out because they don't want to put a little bit of time in to repairing them. Body shops have become too dependent on the insurance money tit and have forgotten what its like to put a little more effort to repair something, unless they can make a ton of money on it!!! keep up the great work and look forward to the next video!!!
Yeah, body shops charge so much for labor that it's cheaper for them to toss a lot of these parts and just replace them with new ones. On the other hand my labor is free to me :-) so I try to fix just about anything that could possibly be salvaged, not to mention that it keeps me occupied while being quarantined :-)
Dude I just found your channel and with quarantine I watched almost all of your videos! You are the real deal of teaching us how we do shit ourselves not like others.
You would have done well in the "old days" when panel beaters really did beat panels instead of replacing them. A body shop would have replaced the fender, both doors and probably the rear quarter as well. As soon as I saw that broken airbox, I knew you would repair it. Another item that would normally be replaced at a body shop. Having the right tools (even if you have to make them yourself) and knowing how to use them means you can repair these panels instead of replacing them. I had to laugh at your comedy start to the video. Sure would have lifted the spirits of a lot of people stuck at home due to lock-downs. Stay safe and looking forward to more of your informative videos.
No wonder insurance company totaled out that rig, there was too much stuffer for them to replace :) I guess that was a win for me since I could fix just about all of it 😊
Awesome! Thank you Juan !!! I love sharing the things I know so I'll be sharing them with you through my videos for long time :) Thanks for watching my friend !!!
All is good here, the grind never ends. Just finished another project. Lot's of work/filming/time invested, think altogether between all of the projects that I've done since last may I got enough footage for 25-30 videos, maybe more. I really want to start posting, not a day goes by that I don't think about it. But I got three more cars in the driveway that need to get done, two of them Will be going up on the frame rack here pretty soon to get some framework done. And at the same time I'm working on a couple of products that I will start offering for sale here pretty soon, lots of R&D went into that . But I do promise you it won't be long until you'll see me posting again 👍
@@fix206 👍🏻 Good! I am glad to here things are going so well! Your frame machine is really nice! Work has to come before videos! Keep up the good work!
Awesome stuff man. Really impressed with your DIY spotter. Can you give me some more info regarding the red tool on the end that actually does the welding and pulling please?
Great video. I have a question do you do plastic welding like on front bumper and the holes that the clips go through to hold the bumper to the car I have seen them tare and plastic welding can repair that.
Absolutely fantastic video I have a challenge for you can you make a how to build one of those spotter lifters I’m 100% sure you can but still I’d love to see your build as I’m positive you’d make improvements
I've already started planning that video out, just need to figure out how to make all the components to make it work including one little part that would have get machined on the lathe...
@@fix206 I’ve looked all over the internet and absolutely nothing for the gun on its own you can get it with the welder but just can’t justify the cost £900 gbp 🇬🇧 and around $1200 usd 🇺🇸 when I might be able to make something like what you’ve done for less than £100 all in I just have to talk the wife into adding another tool to my collection Hahahahah I’ve been subbed to your channel since the frame pulling machine so I know that you’re going to do extremely well on RUclips!!!
I know that this is an older video but I’ve got to ask what is the orange spacer off on the puller I’d really appreciate if you could find the time to answer I’ve been looking for ages and can’t find anything like them
That entire black puller handle with the orange base I purchased together as a kit from Russia. I've had quite a few people ask me about it, little bit down the road I will be making a video where I will be reverse engineering it. Stay tuned, promise I won't disappoint :-)
I don't have a source for the same exact gun that I used in the video, but there is a link to a similar gun that others use with this type of set up. Here is a link to where you can purchase it amzn.to/2CDolZz
@@fix206 thank you so much. I send msg to the seller. And they gave a contact in millsboro de. But they just have the gun. Not the rest of the piece. I’ll wait your video. Thank you. In the meantime I’ll try to build and then check you video. Thank you so much for your help.
You should definitely build one for yourself, it's really not that difficult. Here is a detailed video that I made some time ago, here is a link ruclips.net/video/j6UgtCN5vzU/видео.html
That tool is called "Spotter" I built it myself, I made a video about how i built it, it's actually not very complicated. Here is a link to that video: ruclips.net/video/j6UgtCN5vzU/видео.html
Acura RDX that I just finished a bit over a month ago is basically a CR-V, same Unibody, drivetrain, etc... Great rig, wife loves driving it, and so do I :)
The Bricklayer called. He wants his hammer back. I'm waiting on a trio of transformers to copy your spotter. If you haven't found Trevor in the U.K., here's his latest ruclips.net/video/AuM3zJbWTCk/видео.html He's a very humble guy with a lifetime of knowledge and experience. In his earlier videos, he goes through a lot of hammer and dolly metal shaping technique. He's a big fan of doing more with less. Sound like anyone you know. Also very chill if you're feeling a little anxious these days. Thanks for the content, informative as always. What are you using for a camera? Go Pro?
Lol, I actually found that hammer at a junk yard last year and I've got to tell you, that thing works great as a body hammer :)))) I've also came acrross Trev's channel last year and I've subbed. He for sure has some good content, I very much enjoy watching his vids !! He has a lot of old school bodywork/metalwork knowledge, it's sadly in a way becoming a lost art with less and less people practicing it. A shame really, good thing we have folks like him to lear from ! For camera I use Ipnone 10 and a GoPro 4, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done 👍👍👍
Collectively you guys inspired me to pick up a project car for my 17 y/o daughter at an IAAI auction in Portland three weeks ago. It's a 2011 Volvo C30 "Polestar" edition. Polestar is like Volvo's AMG group. It's not really a Polestar, there wasn't one for this car this year, but it did center punch a pole. I had it dropped down to my company's work yard, before sneaking it into my one car garage at 2:00 a.m. to avoid the prying eyes of my crazy neighbors and their Home Owner's Association rules about no working on cars in your own damn garage. I removed the bumper cover, swapped the spare tire for the cracked right front rim, and pulled the upper radiator support forward with a winch to open the hood before shooting this quick walk around at midnight. In addition to the obvious, it needs a piece of a motor mount (cracked), starter motor (cracked), right front control arm, spindle, steering end link, strut, right cv shaft, and Airbox. photos.app.goo.gl/RKsSFEcim6aSX9SV9
That's cool Brian, that damage doesn't look to be too bad, and id say with the right tools the passenger side fender is fixable, but it might be easier to just get an aftermarket one and save you the trouble. Are you planing of tackling the repair yourself 100% or will you farm some of it out?
Haa haa, your sweet wife is spoiling you.. I bet you are doing the same off camera. lol Congratulations on your marriage! I wish you both a life time of happiness. Now, back to the video. Phillip .
