I appreciate that! Thanks for the note and for watching. I like the variety of the reels that come in my shop. It keeps me going and makes for an interesting diverse set of videos - Best wishes - Dennis
What would cause this reel to be difficult to turn with the handle, even though the lever drag knob isn't too tight? My free spool is fine. I just performed the disassembly, cleaning, lube, and reassembly just as you demonstrated.
It sounds like something is trapped in the reassembly. Take the gear side plate off and spin the handle. It it is tight, you can locate the issue. The problem should not be in the spool side - Dennis
@2ndChanceTackle Thanks Dennis. I tried that and the resistance increases with increased drag. I ordered new bearings 104JL & 104VH. Perhaps there is an issue there.
What did this reel cost brand new? I have actually seen a few two speed spinning reels though I’ve never used one. I have no need of such a reel. Of course my Shimano reels are mostly vintage ones. I do have a Sonora Shimano but it did not have a lot of different size screws that Shimano is infamous for. It appears this Shimano does seem to fit that description though. This reel would greatly intimidate me. It certainly has some impressive gears. This is the first time I’ve ever seen the insides of a two speed reel. You did a superb job on this one Dennis! This was fascinating.
Hi Dennis, l wrote the other day about if the TLD reel was similar to the Tyrnos 20 l have an issue with. This video is much more like the 20 and is a great help. It seems the last person to have serviced this reel ( a well known shop here in Florida) had completely coated all the inner gears/case with the wrong type of grease and in the heat it had melted and has destroyed the drag washer. I am just going to replace the washer and wondered if you might recommend a source or do you sell them? I am going to remove all the grease, clean and lightly coat the gears and shaft in Penn grease and oil the bearings. Many thanks for the great videos.
I don't sell parts. You should be able to get the washers through smoothdrag.com or southwestern parts.com - Thanks for asking and glad to hear that the video was helpful. Best wishes - Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle Hey Dennis, further examination of this reel of mine has revealed the Spool shaft bearing on the Drag lever side needs to be replaced...how should this bearing be removed? The housing is plastic so l want to be careful..any tips/tricks? Special tools?
Just figured out how to do it Dennis..l took a spring binder clip apart and it worked perfectly to help extract the bearing ..l can't seem to be able to attach a photo to show you but it is just a spring clip used to hold piles of paper together
Mr. Dennis what will be your labor cost on servicing this model fishing reel I just got finished cleaning one for a customer of mine and I have no labor cost for this reel that I can find thank you 🙏
Wow! Nice to see a professional make an "ohhhh boy" reel matinance look so easy. Thanks for the video great job Dennis! I'm still scared!
Nothing to fear but fear itself! Well that and a 2 speed lever drag. I hate that shift spring, it gets me every time! Thanks for the note - Dennis

Nice video!
Would you please do the 2 speeds TYRNOS 50II LRS? Thank you!
I do not have that reel in my shop. I have added the request to my list and will do a video when one comes in for service. Thanks for asking - Dennis

Puede ser que el Okuma Solterra sea SUPERIOR?? Gracias
Should I flip the drag washer on the service are both sides usable
You can flip it on most of these reels as the one side is help stationary and the other side is the one that wears with the pressure plate. - Dennis

The reel sells for around $350-$400 for the 2 speed model - Used they still command a price of around $250-$300 based on condition - Dennis

$20 would be a fair charge for a complete service of the reel
good day. my new tyrnos 30 ( 1 speed) have a little spool luft ( maybe 0.5- 1 mm). Its too bad ?
It should be OK. You may be able to adjust that by adding a tension washer to the axle shaft
@@2ndChanceTackle thanks for answer. Maybe I'm too worry about it, because it's my first expensive reel for trophy catfishing))

some of these reels have to be a little nerve tacking when you get the first one in your shop to work on
Yes - particularly if you cannot find a schematic! Those pesky little springs can make you more than a little nervous - Dennis
