Even as a male gamer, I can see why Peach is a badass. There is a reason why she is one of my mains in the sports games. It is because of her technical ability and underrated speed. Never underestimate a princess.
I would so like for Peach to have more games to herself, like Super Princess Peach. She deserves more roles beside being a damsel-in-distress! 🥰 In fact, I could see a second Super Princess Peach game for the Nintendo Switch!
I think that, instead of the vibe mechanic returning, it should just have four characters with different abilities: Peach, Daisy, Rosalina and a new princess.
Peach is always a strong girl. but usually, she is a gently strong, unlike the movie version in witch she is a tomboy. gentle is character, it is not "dont have character" But, I am not hating the movie. mario characters is always different person in each different titles. of course movie's peach is unique, but lets not jump into conclusion that peach would be changed into that way forever. mario's character is always different, so maybe it will be back in future title
I feel the exact same about Peach! I always thought that she needed to develop a better castle defense system in order to protect herself from repeat captures from Bowser, but the whole "look cute, act brash, 'don't underestimate me!'" is a very cliche "female badass" American movie trope at this point that's been done for years. And Illumination Studios is an American company. But, I don't think you and I should worry! This is just an American film adaptation of a Japanese franchise, and I don't think Nintendo HQ in Japan will let that alter their tried and true formula, which will not include changing the characters' personalities. From what I understand, creative heads at Nintendo intend for Mario characters to feel more like actors who are putting on a play for an audience rather than dynamic characters who grow from experience. Every game is a stage, and that enables the formula to work and not change too much.
I didnt see Movie Peach as tomboyish though? She's a strong leader and knows how to fight, but kept being cute and feminine even in her mannerisms. She doesnt behave boyish, but maybe that's just me haha
The name "Princess Peach" was actually first used in the U.S. in "Yoshi's Safari". But then every game after that and before "Mario 64" reverted back to "Princess Toadstool".
the movie shows that Peach was a orphan that entered through a pipe that led her to the Mushroom kingdom. where she came from she has no idea as this was when she was a baby. so this might explain the absence of Peach's father in the movie.
The Mushroom King appears repeatedly in Super Mario Bros 3. At each castle, Toad is crying that a different Koopa kid transformed the Mushroom King into a different animal and Mario has to get back the wand to reverse the spell.
Great video! I still have a volume of that Mario comic were Peach pawns lol! Love the panel with her and the plumber outfit on. Merry Christmas and happy new year man!
Peach is an icon and an intersection of femme and badass! I am so in love with characters like that so Princess Peach will always have a place in my heart💖
Ooh, you gave a marvellous backstory about Peach! She is my favourite female video game character ever, for being so gorgeous and kind! 😍 Of course, I'll want to make sure she is safe, but it's good to know she can defend herself at times, also has been pretty tough in the comics! 😲 I also really look forward to her preparing her kingdom from Bowser in the animated Mario movie! Nice step up for her character! 😃 I would so love a woman like Peach for a girlfriend, hence why she's my video game waifu! Yes, she's together with Mario, but I can't resist her, loving her beauty and kindness! 🥰
I think the movie is looking interesting in the dynamic of Luigi full stop, from the trailer it looks like he may have tried to stop Bowser first and gotten captured, since he seems both familiar with Bowser and covering for the fact he has a brother and Mario seems very unaware of the Mushroom Kingdom as a whole
I believe Mario RPG shows the Mushroom King. I specifically remember a scene where Mario sees Princess Peach from behind, but then she turns around and it is a mushroom lady relative that looks like her.
I'm concerned that Movie Peach will be too stoic. The Comic Peach was still feminine without sacrificing her badassery. I'd like to see more "Pink Ranger" for Movie Peach than the "Red Ranger" vibes she's giving off in the trailers.
Wait a minute, I never knew that the brick blocks were Mushroom Kingdom residents that were transformed! But does that mean that every time Mario breaks one of those blocks he's... killing that person?!
Ngl, I’m glad I’m not the only one who even aerially prefers the original designs of Peach and Daisy. However, with Daisy, I can tell Nintendo wanted to make her look more like Azalea in Mario Golf (I haven’t forgotten the Mario human characters! 😊) and herself at the same time! Whereas as for Peach, well, with yellow hair and a pink dress, while I don’t mind that on its own, Nintendo was less well-intentioned in that regard because they wanted to make her look and sound more like a stereotype of young women as an excuse to not make her live up to her full potential as a badass (and also with personality, where she grows from being always the one that needs saving, which would be a similar arc to Amy and especially Tails in the underrated (let alone the Dreamcast version) Sonic Adventure 1! But… well, she’s either a damsel or a badass)!
I miss Toadsworth 😥 He was especially cute in Paper Mario TTYD, those first two Paper Mario games really defined a generation. It's a shame they stifled the creativity in the more recent entries. Super Paper Mario is still very creative but gameplay is interesting... lol
Honestly, I am convinced that Princess Peach has the last name of Toadstool, thus making Princess Peach or Princess Toadstool as both being technically correct terms in regards for her name, despite it being unusual, at least to the rules of royal families in real life, anyway, to refer to a member of a Royal Family by their last name, which I would most likely chalk up to how the Royal Family is typically referred to in the Mushroom Kingdom by their laws, and/or royal traditions, or it could technically be acceptable for either term to be used for a member of the Royal Family in the Mushroom Kingdom, as the Toadstool Family is the current ruling Royal Family of the Mushroom Kingdom...these are the ideas that seem to make the most sense, given the evidence of her background. Also, Super Mario 64/DS was not the first time that Princess Toadstool was called Princess Peach in the West, as Yoshi's Safari also referred to her as Princess Peach in 1992.
When I was a kid I watched a Voice Over of that comic you mentioned at the end !! Like in 2011 or so !! It made me fall in love with the franchise even more !!
As much as I like (or at least respect) Peach for having her moments where she could fend for herself (Super Paper Mario is only one of the examples, but then there’s also older Mario RPGs (mainly Super Mario RPG. Very underrated game with its retro atmosphere), Mario Party, Super Mario Adventures and Mario Sports), what’s wrong with Daisy and Rosalina? (I guess it’s Deanna Mustard’s voice for the former, but I don’t see anything against Rosalina.)
I was one of the girls who had Super Princess Peach, used to play that game on my pink DS all the time at my bio Dad's. My DS got stolen, so I never got to finish the game itself, but that game's one of my best memories
List of tracks used in video? The last one was a banger through and through. Curiosity aside though, I really agree that Peach is a surprisingly good character, just like her abusive lover Bowser. They appear very simple/generic on the surface, but are actually fantastically deep when you consider what they've done throughout the series, especially in the RPGs.
The lady Donkey Kong Sr was holding was a lady named “Lady” and it’s speculated to be Mario and Luigi’s mother, as the original “Mario” is their father.
I nice little detail In Mario 3D Land (where peach is the damsel), I think the postcard you get after beating world 5 or 6, peach is shown beating the hell out of Goombas with her umbrella.
Wait, so donkey kong was originally a Mario villain? And here I thought Sonic is the only early gaming mascot who's lore is comparable to lord of the rings in size and had a rival become friend.
@@erikbihari3625 To put it simply, for example, if you assume that Sonic's old nemesis was originally Knuckles' grandfather, and later the nemesis shifted to Eggman, and he became a rival and best friend with the grandson of the original nemesis.
@@ドラゴンリュー-f1xNo, I meant did donkey kong start out like knuckles? I.e. an adversary to the main hero but for whatever reason specific for them become an ally! The only thing I know about him is the beam scaling while he throws barrels at you.
Mario and Luigi don't struggle to find it, since they are going through different locations rescuing the Mushroom Retainers and dealing with Bowser's fortresses along the way. Toadsworth is probably still around, possibly in the Bean Bean Kingdom, if you know you know. Glad you acknowledged Peach's levitation ability is magic. Too many people think she's using her dress to float. Also, Smash Bros is not canon to the Mario Games. Bonus fact, Peach's magic is Star/Wish Magic.
Peach is a better name than Princess Toadstool so I understand why the change is more accepted. However, I will die on the hill of Dr. Robotnik over Eggman. Robotnik is a better name, it's his original name (in the American version at least), it's his name in the movies, and "Eggman" just sounds like a derisive nickname given to him by Sonic.
When I was a kid I thought toadsworth was her dad.😅 they’re so weird with their lore. I felt so gaslit into calling robotick eggman, But I feel like eggman is cute. I feel like that was more cultural censorship when it came to Eggman. Peach’s personality was really really created in paper Mario. I feel like that is such a good game that really makes story and building so important. Even if it was a spin off? They respected her as a character!
I like to think that both Princess Toadstool and Princess Peach are both acceptable names for her. Kind of like Peach is her real name and Princess Toadstool is something like a title or something.
Dr Robotnik is Dr Robotnik. Princess Toadstool is Princess Toadstool. To this day I (as a "peach" main in Smashy Bros) I STILL call her princess Toadstool.
Great video, and I love to see video games impacting language (before Mario and Smash, no one pronounced the abbreviation Bros. as “broze,” it was read as “brothers.” Like “Nos. 2 & 3” is still read “Numbers two and three.”) This is not a criticism but a celebration of language, new generations, and being alive to witness language change. We all KNOW it changes by looking back at Shakespeare, etc., but to get to experience it is magical ❤ (old man points at cloud and says, “Cool, it looks like a bicycle”)
The fact that Princess peach got her own game and that was it …. A disgrace …. We need more 😭😂 I loved Super Princess Peach but it was really easy to beat and I wish they had given her the Super Mario treatment because shes badass on her own especially with how the upcoming movie represents her !!! ✨
I can't dislike this character. With her typical western, fair look that Japanese do admire, she owns personality. She not an empty "doll" and can speak her own voice without beign the usual female cliche.
I’m surprised the cartoon series were not mentioned here, to me she’s always princess toadstool. Same thing, for Dr. Robotnik for the sonic cartoons series. I guess she could princess peach toadstool with toadstool as her last name but eggman is a nickname.
Regarding the name Princess Peach being localized it was actually first introduced in Yoshi’s Safari on the SNES prior to Mario 64, as for why people were more accepting to the change I assume it’s because the internet wasn’t as spread back in 1995 like in 2001, that and you gotta admit the English name for the princess is kinda stupid, Frog’s Poop.

Exactly, we really need Super Princess Peach 2 to come out on the Nintendo Switch or whatever console Nintendo will be developing at the time.
@@SuperBloxTube Also it doesn't even has to be Mario or Luigi who need to be rescued, Princess Peach is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom and i think that puts her in plenty of situations involving other kingdoms, other rulers, magic and magic beings! If a person or magic being who's really important to her kingdom or all kingdoms was captured or in danger i think she would be a great candidate to go try to save them!
Super Princess Peach 2 could have a plot like Super Mario 3D World where pixies get captured, but instead of the pixies it could be something else
@@dandantsm6560 that sounds like a great idea
Dr. Robotnik is a much cooler name for a mech themed villain. Eggman sounds like some creepy pasta sh*t.
Critics: "Peach can't be a badass girlboss in the movie!!! That's out of character for her!!"
Super Mario Adventures comic: "Am I a joke to you?"
I heard the CGI movie had some ispiration from the Super Mario Adventures comics
First her father, now Toadsworth…. Why does Nintendo keep killing off her family
I mean, she still has Daisy.
@@HypercomboProduction They aren't family tho
@@jesusramirezromo2037 in a game manual for i think Mario Power Tennis, it states that Peach and Daisy are cousins. And considering that we recently had a minor problem with Daisy representation for Strikers....
@@HypercomboProduction That just sounds like English localization issues to me, or English language manual authors embellishing details on their own, but I could be wrong, too. Nintendo doesn't like to establish lore for the Mario universe, but we in the west love to do it!
@@jesusramirezromo2037 If royal families in the Mario universe are anything like royal families in real life than it's possible.
Now we need an video on the scared cat, green Mario himself....Luigi!
However, unlike Peach (depending on the game because sometimes she doesn’t prove herself to be a scaredy cat even when Luigi does), Luigi actually faces his fears making him even less of a coward!
She’s both of those things you said you know about her being damsel or badass she’s both video game and movie. She helps Mario on his quest.
Your right but She’s certainly not anywhere close to Woke Movie Peach and yet he never goes in depth why that's important which it is
Which is why I would consider her to be Nintendo’s Amy Rose (mainly in the 2000s) where there were times when Amy could definitely fight for herself even if she may be more dependant on a Piko-Piko Hammer, but there were also times when she would pull that hammer on her own friends (looking at you, Sonic Free Riders)!

Even as a male gamer, I can see why Peach is a badass.
There is a reason why she is one of my mains in the sports games. It is because of her technical ability and underrated speed.
Never underestimate a princess.
At least the Mario Movie is not gonna be another ‘Peach gets kidnapped’ storyline. I am genuinely looking forward to seeing it.
Ooh, brilliant idea! Peach and Daisy have a different ability in Super Mario Run, when it comes to jumping, anyway.
@@callum110597 We're getting a new Peach game next year! I hope Daisy and Rosalina are there along side an evil princess/queen as the main villain
@@mariajimenafigueroa233 I know that now, now that we waited a few months. And I'm thrilled!
Peach is always a strong girl. but usually, she is a gently strong, unlike the movie version in witch she is a tomboy. gentle is character, it is not "dont have character"
But, I am not hating the movie. mario characters is always different person in each different titles. of course movie's peach is unique, but lets not jump into conclusion that peach would be changed into that way forever. mario's character is always different, so maybe it will be back in future title
Are tomboys the only type of girls that can get tough?
Lmfao movie peach shows any kind of backbone and now she's suddenly a "tomboy" 😂. That speaks alot about how you view 'strong girl'.
The editor/Mentok making fun of the beard was so funny for no reason😂
Great video! I still have a volume of that Mario comic were Peach pawns lol! Love the panel with her and the plumber outfit on. Merry Christmas and happy new year man!

Hopefully the new mario bros movie expands on Peach's origin and if there's a sequel we can finally learn more about Daisy's past too
Ooh, you gave a marvellous backstory about Peach!
There's also yet another dedicated team completely reddubing the great princess rescue into English and that they are far from slacking
12:44 Indeed the movie Is inspired by super Mario Bros Adventure
Whoa 😮 this is pretty awesome. Merry Christmas

But does that mean that every time Mario breaks one of those blocks he's... killing that person?!
basically in the comics, they captured mario and peach flat out threatened
to nuke the whole place if they didn't hand him back.
If you look closer at earlier art of Peach she's was a strawberry blond for a bit. I wish they kept that.
And if you remember when they first reintroduced Daisy in Mario Party 3 and Mario Tennis, she was brown. Wish they kept that as well.
Super Paper Mario is still very creative but gameplay is interesting... lol
Peach just ate a fire flower and was about to escape herself in SMB1.
I always thought her full name was Princess: Peach Toadstool.
When I was a kid I watched a Voice Over of that comic you mentioned at the end !! Like in 2011 or so !! It made me fall in love with the franchise even more !!
Peach is a overhated character, i see alot of people hating her cause they prefer daisy... Peach deserves more love!
People...hate Peach!? What manner of madness has taken hold of these younglings!?

In the Super Mario RPG we get to meet Princess “Toadstool” reigning father figure…and I’m pretty sure we also get introduced to her grandma…

As a kid the King Koopa and Princess Toadstool name changes were weird but acceptable. To this day I call Eggman Robotnik, and will never stop.
For me having grown up with the Nintendo Entertainment System. The most surprising thing in this whole video was Peach actually has legs.
When I first played Mario 64 I always figured that was when we got her full name; Peach Toadstool
Thank you for the masterful telling of this. I really appreciate you and your time

The Mushroom King was also depicted in the Golden Books coloring books released around 1989.
I'm really enjoying your Mario videos. You've earned a sub for sure.
