  • Compressor went down because it ran out of engine oil. The standing tank is supposed to stay filled by the compression company but apparently they forgot.

Rocking the annunciator. There still a few of those 3516s with tattletale setups in Carlsbad NM. Talk about a nightmare.

I actually worked on them , was a night pumper and did the same thing in 2019 out in Carlsbad

Stuff like this is my childhood.. lol.. back in the 90s when i was a kid this was a familiar thing for me. use to always go with my dad when he worked for the gas companies.

Do you have to close off the gas that's being compressed then start it

How come you dont close the dump valve before restarting

Guess ya didn't see the message, " idle down before starting", written on the panel.

Limited down time they want these running 24/7, nobody that’s anybody gives a shit about those directions.

@@natekerbow6825 it will not be running at all when you destroy equipment. 10 minutes of warmup saves hours of waiting for parts. Be smarter

The safety police will get you for not wearing your ppe! :) No FRC for you guys? I miss those days in the summer when it is hot. Hate Superior compressors too. lol

Cool video, any chance of having commentary added to it to describe your steps in restarting?

Never heard of anyone blowing down before Turning off the suction value. It's also really hard on the motor and pump to start it up at such a high rpm. I would like to know where this is.

Compressor went down, was down for awhile. Have to blow it dead or it will never start…

No building over the compressor eh? You guys sure do things different down there in the states. Is that a Diesel Motor?

nope natural gas caterpillar 3516. the coils for the spark plugs are underneath the valve covers

Are you allowed to simply flare the gas to the atmosphere? Here I would be fired if any HSE is around... better install a flare nearby, specially if you have a heavy s.g gas, that will accumulate near the floor...

They allow us to vent to atmosphere in my area also, lol not every where is the same

What is the purpose of blowing down before starting?

    • @ogie76
      @ogie76 6 лет назад +2

Matthew Green usually easier to turn the engine over and/or to clear high pressure alarms in the lower compressor stages.

ogie76 thanks! Im trying to learn all i can so i can hopefully get into the oil and gas industry.

Also if the compressor itself has been opened up for any reason like changing hot valves or overhauling then you’ll want to leave that blowdown valve open some so the compressor can purge and O2 out of it before loading it out.

Release the pressure so your suction line drops allowing the engine to start easier once to a certain pressure you can shut bleed off reset the panel turn engine over open your suction close your bypass reset high suction pin (depending on what you went down on)
