    Welcome to the classic VW owners club, Adam! Slade wasn't kidding when he said that's a solid classic Bug to find up in your area. 👍

    The key to keeping your sanity is take your time. Don't get overwhelmed by fixing to much at once. Great looking solid car. "Sweet Pea" 😀

    The funny thing about VWs is how they speak about all the one year cars and cross over type stuff and the ‘71 SB is a cross over from the late 1960s cars with the carpeting and smaller rear window and heater control knobs plus steering wheel and wiper switch position on the dash. Kinda the best of both worlds

    One thing to keep in mind about super beetles and perhaps the reason that have a less than desirable rep in the VW world is because that front end has to be in top top perfect shape to be appreciated. The bushings and that U joint in the steering column are the main weak points.
    It is a lovely ride when it’s correct.
    Monitor those strut towers man

    And by the way the first 2 years with the flat windshields were probably the best cars. Especially the ‘71 in my experience. It seems to me like the very early ones didn’t suffer as much from that inside out rust around those doggone vents behind the windows. And don’t forget the the ‘71 dual port engine purportedly had the most power at 60hp

    Look into getting the Birth Certificate and Data Sheet from the VW Museum in Germany. A little pricey but very interesting. You'll learn where your car was made and when, port of entry and interior and exterior color codes. The exterior looks great and tells a story.

    Cool
    Elm Green
    Car would have had the two sets of decklid vents instead of four but who’s bickering.
    The interior color was called cork

      @adamgrogan8279 Год назад

      Thank you, I recently confirmed the color and interior actually! I haven’t been able to find cork upholstery anywhere online though sadly

    Nice bug. Of course the color is wonderful. I have the Delta Green. 68 color looks nearly same shade of green. I would like to know the rustoleum color he used in roof. I think he said canyon green. So Adam if you see this let me know. Thanks. Nice SB

    • @adamgrogan8279
      @adamgrogan8279 Год назад +1

      Yes! It is canyon green! Good eye. I just grabbed it off the shelf and somehow it was a near perfect match. That’s only one coat though, once I do a second it’ll look better! Plus the 2K!

    Where are you located that you have super beetles that you can go and get parts all at the salvage yard I haven't seen the old VW in a junkyard in these parts for many
    years
