Her all nighter is so different to mine. In general, she was doing small changes and rewriting a few things whereas I would have been trying to research and write from scratch the three essays in the same night while slowly going into a mental breakdown

I did like 2400 words in 18h like I spent all night in the library working on my last essay, I had the research but I still had many thi gs missing, plus half of the writing and bibliography, edit.. After 3 evening in a row working in the research.. I had a mental breakdown as well and next day I wasn't able to do nothing at all😅

As a professor, I can tell you that the thank you notes are a great idea. It brings me so much happiness when one of my students does so, or verbally tells me that he/she appreciates what I do. It is really helpful to have feedback from our students (even negative one)!

Ill be honest, when i saw that you submitted your essay at half 3 i was like... thats an all nighter? thats like... the time i usually go to bed on a weekday lol. but then when you said you didnt sleep and got up again at 6 i was like ohhhhh fair enough, yeah that counts.
Past few weeks for me have been rough with my uni english coursework- been alot of staying up till 6am writing. Your videos genuinly have helped me tho and made me feel more motivated. Your how to cut down essays one really helped me out yesterday- i was struggling lol.

Amy D oh that wasn’t bragging in the slightest, this is a genuine description of how tough uni has been for me recently. If anything, it shows how bad I am at time management that it’s gotten to this point.

As ruby grows up its almost like she's becoming a lot less robot like and more like n o r m a l. I understand that work is a necessity but spending time with friends and hanging out with the people you love is too.

A great tip my lecturer gave me was to print out your essays when editing them. I didn’t think it would make that much difference, but reading the essay on paper and physically editing it before typing up the edits really helped me see things I would have otherwise missed if I’d had just proof read my essay on my laptop!

I'm a senior in high school and I'm in the same boat. I have an essay for English and four papers for Creative Writing. Not to mention, I am neck-deep in Calculus work as well... The end of the semester is the 27th...
For anyone finishing up the semester or term, or who just have a ton of work in general, you got this! We can all get through this and come out stronger on the other side!
I loved the dramatic music you put in when you were pulling an all nighter. I'm a HUGE procrastinator and I'm in high school in the US and I have had to pull SO MANY all nighters... man I never learn my lesson...
That TROLL ANALOGY is so true! I did a “well-being wizardry” series on Instagram last year, using HP analogies to raise mental health awareness and one of the metaphors I used was “troll in the digital dungeon”, essentially internet trolling. So thsi was SIRIUSLY amazing to hear. My other one is “mind muggles” for anxiety! (And yes I am a potterhead) 🥰

I am always impressed with the ability of studytubers to go out even though they have to submit three essays the following day, whereas I am anxious and dedicating all my time to the essays until they are done. It is also interesting that you send the essay at 3.30am whilst even if I finish them at that time, I wait until the following morning to submit them.
I live for the the music choices!! :D But more importantly: I love how you, Ruby, show us that you are, as awesome as you are, still a human being like all of us!

I love the subject of you essay, Ruby. As a second year literature student my eyes widened when I saw "Saussure", "structuralism" and heard "othering". Fun to see how different school over the world use the same concepts to study literature
Wow ruby, thank you for also showing us that you struggle sometimes and struggle with deadlines. But in the end if you work hard enough you can still accomplish everything

As a trainee teacher, can I just say that I wish I had appreciated my teachers & lecturers (especially those lecturers who really cared and put the effort in!) because this job is soooo hard! It's so heart-warming to see you writing those cards from them :)

i think it’s nice that your essays were due before the holidays. when i did a semester in a uk university, as an exchange student, our essays were only due in like mid january, meaning we had to work on them during the holidays. it was so annoying D:

I've never pulled an all nighter except possibly when commuting on a long airplane flight
When I was in uni I could never do an all nighter! Instead I would work until 1am and then wake up at around 6 and work till my morning lectures. Thankfully I didn't have to do this that often but sometimes you get feedback in college with little time to fit in the changes to your work! (I think lecturers forget that we have family to see at the weekends! 😆) I've just enrolled today on an Events Management course through an Open College program. I'm going to do this alongside my Marketing job, which will be a challenge but I'm looking forward to it. 😊 Your videos will help keep me motivated throughout 😊

This is really interesting to me. When you said you finished the essay but wasn’t really happy with it, and then you kept working for a few more hours, I was reminded of myself! I would have just submitted it because I had actually finished it. I can be lazy sometimes and you are really inspiring!

Hey could you do some videos about english at university; what kind of essays do you have, how do you prepare for them, what kind of subjects you study etc! Im about to study english here in finland and im so curious about the british educational system, especially regarding the english subject
Uhus Hahas it varies for everyone. I go to Goldsmiths in London and study English literature and our syllabus seems to be a little more focused on the controversial or unconventional within the literary canon compared to other unis that I find study the very typical canonical stuff !!! English is a really rewarding subject

It is so amazing that you have so interesting essey's subjects! In Poland, at my university, we didnt have esseys at all. And if we had the subjects were much easier, nothing aroud "critical writing" .

As you’re not allowed candles/flames in uni i recommend putting a couple of drops of lemon essential oil on a cotton pad then wiping it on the lamp lightbulb. The bulb warmth will release the oil which can help keep your brain alert and scent the room.

Omg finally found someone who also gives gifts to their teachers every Christmas. Other kids usually find it weird and ask me why because I give gifts on Easter and at the end of summer too. It is too thank them for everything

I am a bit out of my league here. I graduated college in the USA in 1991. I had the privilege of doing just one all nighter. I was very schedule oriented and always had my assignments finished a week or two early. I did learn from my essays under pressure. My best work was these last minute ones. But unfortunately i could not mentally work this way even though it was some if my best writing at the time. Love your channel Ruby!!!!
