Michael Winslow (Jones) was recently on “America’s Got Talent” doing all his sound effects. Apparently, he stopped acting in the 90s to raise his kids after his wife passed away. He appears on AGT last month because his son asked him to. He’s still funny as hell.
Wow, I never heard that. I was always wondering where he ended up, thanks!
😱😱😱 OMG!
@@OnceUponaReaction Hi Vanessa!
Funny and talented. This was not funny, but it was great! ruclips.net/video/1HHMA1Dpo5M/видео.html
I'm sure he is almost EVERYBODY'S favorite in these movies.
"Is that the walk of shame?"
No... that is the stride of pride! 🤣
"[The wife] should join the police academy!"
You are now obligated to watch Police Academy 3.
not before PA2
@@matthewboreham2001 tbh the first 5 are hilarious. they lost it after that.
@@coachmikesfilmroom3111 yeah they jumped the shark after part 5
@@antoineporche-rideaux4841 they made more than 5?
@@coachmikesfilmroom3111 to be honest I like the 6th one!
I love that the guys at the gay bar don't actually do anything mean to them. They just make two a-holes very, very uncomfortable by...dancing with them. And that's it. Which makes it much funnier.
Homophobia ran rampant during the 80's
I don't know. Copeland told Harris that they were "mostly dancing". That tells me something else happened that wasn't shown.
Bubba Smith (Hightower) was an All-Pro Defensive End with the Baltimore Colts from 1967-72 playing in 2 Super Bowls. He passed away in 2011.
He said that he never got over losing Superbowl III to the NY Jets.
You can see him in the NFL films documentaries.
Fun fact: Michael Winslow (Jones) would be the only actor to appear in all 7 Police Academy movies, the cartoon show and the short lived TV show. David Graf (Tacklebury) and George Gaynes (Lassard) would appear in all 7 Police Academy movies.
Correction: Michael Winslow did not provide the voice for Jones in the cartoon. It was a different voice actor.
@@Thundarr100 OK. I stand corrected on that.
Did anyone notice that David Graf played a cop on Seinfeld?
Not sure if anyone mentioned it to you, but Hightower wasn't just defending Hooks. He had finally had it with Copelands racism. He heard him call black people spades at the beginning, and he damn sure didn't forget that. So when Copeland got really racist really loudly, especially against the sweetest person there, he wasn't letting Copeland get away with it.
I watched another reaction to this movie and it was a young person reacting and she didnt realize that "spade" was a derragatory term for blacks....Im 44 and havent heard it used since I was a kid
@@paulgardner5079 I wouldn’t have noticed because I was born in the 1990s and grew up only knowing the word “spade” as something in card games. Until now, I wasn’t aware it was used like that.
@@Powerranger-le4up My grandfathers favorite one was "Moolie"
@@paulgardner5079 That figures. That seems like an abbreviated form of mulatto. An older term related to biracial people in Spanish speaking countries. While it's an older term, it wasn't necessarily used offensively in those places. But, having traveled and lived in some English speaking countries, I came across it as an offensive term. Or rather, it was used and also taken, as an insult to my surprise.
In any event, I am only guessing at 'moolie' = mulatto. I would be curious to know if you ever asked your grandfather about the word and where it came from. Just wondering.
@@therewasacrookedman5892 he was from Kansas city and picked up the term from Italian-Americans
Michael Winslow was added at the last minute after the director saw his performance in a comedy club. His sketches are all based on his ability to make those sound effects with his mouth. You should react to him performing Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.
It's unbelievable!
The producers also saw his scene in Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, where he was making a bunch of noises in the welfare office
Nice!
I saw this as a kid in the 80's when it came out to VHS.
It was funny then and even funnier now because as an adult, I get more of the humor than I did when I was a kid.
I like that younger people watch and like 80s movies that came out before they were born 🙂
Alan Ladd was a movie star in the 1940's. Alan Ladd Jr. was a movie producer in the 1970's. Police Academy(1984) is about misfit police officers upholding the law. This film spawned several quickie sequels. There was a Police Academy cartoon in 1989 on TV.
The cartoon was actually my first experience with the franchise.
The movie's director also created a very funny TV show: "WKRP in Cincinnati"
I'm a former Correctional Officer from Wisconsin, and our training at the academy was only seven weeks.
...that explains a lot about USA police and itchy trigger fingers out of fear. You'r a bunch of untrained morons playing "cop". In any normal country, you wuldnt even qualify as a security guard w/o half a year of training. Make that a year at LEAST, for a police officer.
Idk who I feel sorry for more. You or the people you'r supposed to "protect". What a mess of country.
Fun fact the actor who played hightower used to play football in college in America and he was one of the nicest guys in the whole world sadly he passed away about 5 or 10 years ago and his name was bubba Smith
The song in the Blue Oyster Club is "El Bimbo" by Jean-Marc Dompierre.
I've always wanted to know what the song was. Thank you
Change one letter for...Blue Oyster CULT
I'm gonna be 33 in 2 months you don't understand how many times I have seen this movie since I was a kid and still till this day I find this movie hilarious my favorite comedy ever seen it probably over 500 times no bs
Nice reaction! :-) this is one of my favourite comedies of the 80's! :-)
It's still a fun watch, to this day!
And yeah, I agree, Jones is one of the best characters :-)
And Hightower is so sweet as well; not only a good police officer, but also a great florist, apparently! ;-) that promotion was well deserved :-)
17:25 several reasons
1 - if people find out there’s boobs shown in the movie…in theory more will go see it and more money - sex sells
2 - it projected the notion of sex positivity in society, that the awesome parties had this happen…
3 - in universe explanation…it was the early 80s…the notion of the free spirit hippy movement hadn’t fully been killed off yet, the combination of being in uniforms learning and strictness…the party as a whole was seen as a cathartic relief, and in this era, add some beers and good vibes and music, people were less ashamed and uninhibited…what many mistake such things to mean, is just cos it’s the middle of summer, a hot night and everyone is feeling relaxed and comfortable enough to go topless or such, does NOT mean the party becomes an orgy…
4 - It was fun. =)
@@Xoferif 👍 part of 3 haha 👍✌️
Finally! The movie reaction video I've been waiting for. Hopefully you'll see the entire series of films eventually. Have fun...
The guy doing the sound effects was also in Spaceballs lol
the look she gave saying "smooth" I almost peed myself laughing!
The prostitute was perhaps the must funny passage of the show, it would be inconcevable these days now in any film... The look and acting of Mahoney looking back and discovering is so good
The only thing that can make me smile more than watching Police Academy is watching you watch it! Also, hi Petunia 😉
This movie is 1980s comedy in a nutshell! We all wanted to be Jones as kids, and dammit, George Gaynes deserved an Oscar just for the podium scene!
I kinda loved how your face fell when you learned that George was faking his Spanish accent to get girls. But hey, to Americans and Canadians there are few accents sexier than the Spanish accent. It's one of the reasons you're so popular on RUclips.
I have to agree on the accents. Spanish and French are both at the top of my list too.
I will say though that her personality is the key to her success on here. The accent is just a nice bonus.
@@MrKeychange I said that it's one of the reasons that she's so popular, not the only reason. I LOVE her energy and enthusiasm. And her not being as spoiled by American pop culture as some other reactors is great too, because it helps to reduce spoilers for some movies and we get to see her genuine surprise/excitement.
@@MrKeychange Im a native Texan, and to me this lady's accent sounds a bit more eastern euro(polish, russian romanian etc) than spainish
give Romancing the Stone 1984 a watch , it is from Robert Zemekis and it is in Colombia
If you want to see more of the guy who does the sound effects he is a contestant on America’s Got Talent this year
"You don't fool _me,_ Mahoney. You're the Devil."
These are the words of a man who takes himself _way_ too seriously.
"Hightower" was Bubba Smith, a former American football player.
I highly recommend “Porky’s” from 1980 as your next 80’s comedy reaction.
It's actually from 1981 and another hilarious performance by Kim Cattrall
Ahhh, yes. Her staring role as Lassie. 🐺🐩 Should have gotten an Oscar for that alone.
@@keithmays8076 actually she only appears in a couple scenes including the infamous locker room scene 🤣

"Could you get the cat?" No problem :D
Great reaction police academy movies are funny as hell please keep going with the franchise
Oh my God. You’ve opened Pandora’s box. Now you gotta watch all of them. At least Police Academy 2 and 3 for Bobcat Golthwait. Maybe 4 for Mrs Feldman. These aren’t classics but I did grow up with them. Enjoy!
Zed & Sweetchuck were amazing in four too! The scene in the hot air balloon kills me. 🤣
YAAY! This is my favourite comedy series of films. So easy to watch anytime i just want to relax. I love your reaction.
13:38 to answer your question, that was a *.44 Magnum.* Good stopping power 😎
For a second I thought you were wearing no top. Not that I would complain. LOL
Those camera shaped photo labs used to be everywhere. 🤣
Petunia is fluffy and cute 🤗
I'm so glad I can share this classic with you ❤️👍
Great reaction! Police Academy 2 is just as hilarious as this one so I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to that XD
At 22:17, the car that Harris crashed the bike into was about to drive into...a building!?
Took me years to notice this 'WTF' moment. 🤤😎🤣
Great reaction. You're too funny. 😆
I remember watching this movie for the 1st time back in 1986 when I was 12 years old. Been one of my favorite comedies of all time.
Actually there's 7 "Police Academy" movies, and Michael Winslow(Jones) is in all of them
He's the only actor to appear in all 7 Police Academy movies, the Police Academy TV series and The animated series
25:50 although if we wanna get technical…Barbara only made the first attack by hitting Copeland with the tray…but he didn’t throw a “punch”
First lesson of answering questions from police officers and lawyers…PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THEIR EXACT WORDING, AND ONLY ANSWER THE SPECIFIC QUESTION THEY ASK…
In school someone I knew was trying to pick a fight, they threw a punch at me, I dodged it easily, then uppercut his jaw…everyone tried claiming I threw the first punch…I then suggested they check the security cameras, and then pointed out that I did NOT throw the first punch…but mine WAS the first that connected with its target and caused damage…subtle yet highly important difference
Movies were a lot funnier back in the day when they didn't have to be politically correct.
I love your laugh.
When people say a movie didn't hold up over time, I say "The movie did, society didn't. "
She does have a great giggle
The late 70s and 80s had the best movies
If your definition of political correctness means "can't open fire on minorities because they have agency nowadays" then I'm glad it's here.
@@sephjnr It doesn't mean that. Nice troll though.
this was why i love movie an 80s classic i am glad you liked this movie so funny
She made the reaction!
Your giggles are Jedi Master level ! haha LOL I like them
Is Petunia haunted 110% sure it moved......... 🤣🤣
So Arnie's Running Man next, since it was 3rd in the poll after this? ;) It's also a comedy.. of sorts, lol
Boobies usually do attract more audiences back in the day, especially teen boys and this was before the internet ;) Bubba Smith (Hightower) was originally a football player before he became an actor and he sadly passed away in 2011. Most of the actors from this franchise have sadly passed away, like Marion Ramsey (Hooks) passed away this year, David Graf (Tackleberry) in 2001 & George Gaynes (Commandant Lassard) in 2016. Before Steve Guttenberg got cast as Mahoney, other three actors were considered for the role - Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis and Judge Reinhold.
I could actually see Tom Hanks or Judge Reinhold as Mahoney, but not Bruce Willis. Guttenberg killed it though.
@@flybriur I didn't knew this at the time, but also Michael Keaton, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Rick Moranis, John Travolta & even Jerry Seinfeld were considered for the role.
Im suprised and impressed you reacted to Police Academy. It was my dads favorite movie, thanks for taking me back to the good ol 80s.😅
"When Marge said she was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and exciting, like that movie Spaceballs. But instead, it's painful and disturbing, like that movie Police Academy."
Also, the stereotypes in this movie I’d say they are
Mahoney the wise ass.
Tackleberry the intense goofball.
Hooks The Shy and Quiet one.
Jones the Cool sound effects guy.
And Hightower the muscle.
Omg You're right. The theme music builds up a superhero feel (bc: Police are suppose to be superheroes) only to subvert those (subliminal) expectations with slapstick baffoonery 🙊
I love police academy
The actual quote is "the customer is always right ON MATTERS OF TASTE."
Awe your doggy is cute but you're cuter 😃😊Great reaction you're too funny!😂
Pat Proft, the co-writer, is also part of the writing team of The Naked Gun trilogy.
"Dancing Sir, mostly dancing"😂😂😂.
This movie was filmed in Toronto, the " Academy " is the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital. That's my old neighborhood, the hospital grounds were a favorite make-out spot when I was a teenager.
The Ladd Company was a little production company founded by Alan Ladd, Jr. who was once a major guy at 20th Century Fox back in the late 70's and was one of the only people to believe in Star Wars during its infancy. He went out on his own in the early 80's with this company, but I don't believe it lasted very long.
Police Academy 2,3, 4 ,5, 6, ... movies are even funnier!
Agree 100%
The Blue Oyster joke appears in most of the Police Acadamy movies ...
Everyone knows the police force is the perfect place for people who have a problem with authority
Seeing you do classic comedy is terrific & this was the perfect movie for you. I'd watch you react to 80s comedy all day. 😁👍
These Police Academy movies are pretty funny up through number four. I think there are seven total, but after #4 too many important characters left.
I also loved #5, with the first four. Still liked 6, but it was pushing it. I don't acknowledge #7
One of the greatest funniest movies ever made very classic Police Academy directed by Hugh Wilson produced by Paul Maslansky starring Steve Guttenberg, Kim Cattrall, Bubba Smith, George Gaynes, G.W. Bailey and music score by Robert Folk. Thank you so much Once Upon a Reaction very nice excellent😊😊😊😊😊
7 Police Academy movies were made and an 8th rumored to be in production
i think u forget something like most "clients" usualy do . In most stores next to "the client is allways right" plate there is one that says "no shirt no shoes no service" (which eliminates his "right" if some conditions aren't met) and next to it is also one "the establishment reserves the right to not serve specific customers" and yeahh this one has said "client" name on it if u will.
Kim Cattrall, yes, and the reason why she's not coming back is because apparently her co-stars where bullying her. Actually, Michael Winslow (Jones), David Graf (Tackleberry) and George Gaynes (Commandant Lassard) are the only actors to be in ALL the movies, so if you wanna see more of Jones then you should react to the other 6 movies ;) =)
I don't actually believe that first bit for one second.
@@wedgeantilles4712 Google the article then!
wolverine wishes he was as badass as the late great Bubba Smith.
5:25 She did in the 3rd movie
omg my childhood movies, this brings back so much sweet memories like 12 years ago. My favorite character is Hightower and Larvell
"Blazing Saddles"
"Caddyshack"
"Uncle Buck"
"Who's harry Crumb?"
And of course "The Naked Gun" :)
"why is that happening?"...... Short answer is it was the 80s. People used to be much more laid back about sex (and sexual content in movies). Remember 80s and 90s in the US had high teen pregnancy rates.(though the highest rates were actually in the 1950s)
Yeah but the teens in the 50's were probably already married 😂
@@ckobo84 that the depends on the area of the country but If they weren't married when they got preggy the usually were when by the time the baby showed up.
Just a little odd American history they use to actually give prisoners a "second chance" during war here. They could get a massive jail sentence or join the military, my friends dad got this exact choice for Vietnam.
The second one is my favorite. I'm glad you enjoyed this one.
*Police academy 2* PLEASE! 😎
17:25 It is because parties used to get pretty wild before the age of mobile phones, with cameras and video capabilities to be easily upload all evidence to be stored forever to social media platforms 😢
"You can do that?"
"This ain't the Army, you know."
Not that there's anything wrong with a buzz cut. I mean if a man has a well-shaped head, there's no reason he should be compelled to hide it. 🤷
This is one of your best reactions ever! I was laughing so much along with you.
It always shocks me how short police training time is in America (at least in the shows / movies I've seen). They say 14 weeks in the beginning here and 24 later and in Brooklyn 99, they say 6 months.
As far as I know, where I live, lower rank police training is a 3 or 3.5 year apprenticeship and higher ranks (the ones that get appointed as detectives) are basically a university degree.
Academy training is short. It's followed by years of on the job training. Watch the Nathan Fillion show The Rookie, it shows what happens after the academy.
@@jeremyfrost2636 Thanks, that's comforting to know. I might check it out.
@@mak23686 It's mostly played straight, not a comedy like Police Academy, but it's funny every once in a while.
Police Academy is about the Police Academy, and equal opportunity.
Police Academy 2 is about a Police Station. 😂
That were the 80s my dear! You can´t compare this day and age with the 80s!
We wouldn’t think that Petunia was creepy if she would stop turning her head and looking into the camera while you’re watching the video.
Nice to se your reaction by the way. The movie is classic. Police Academy 4 is that last good one. Another good Steve Gutenberg comedy is “Three Men and a Baby”. I recommend it. See if you can spot the “ghost” in the background if that movie. October will be here soon . I hope you have some good scary movie reactions planned.
7:44 "Hoo hoo hoo. He's so frickin _tall."_
Yes. That's Moses Hightower. That's someone who's always wanted to be a cop before, but they wouldn't take him because he was way too _tall._ Nothing _else_ wrong with him. He's just really, really _tall._ The actor they _casted_ for the role, the late Bubba Smith, stood just over two meters tall. He was recruited from the National Football League.
And this man just used an _ethnic_ slur.
Petunia.. please tell her that I love her very much and she makes a time for all of us to laugh and smile. She's an angel❤
I cannot hear El Bimbo, without remembering the dancing!
Really enjoy the first 3 Police Academy movies some great characters like Zed get introduced in the 2nd one, the 4th was ok as well But they started to go down hill a lot from there as a lot of the best characters had left by 5
Part 3 is my favorite of the franchise also.
R,I,P.. Hooks, Tackleberry, Hightower and all the others who are no longer with us, thanks for the memories and laughter :):):)
@@kylereese4822 And Eric Lussard, of course. In my opinion, he was the funniest character in the film. Especially his acting in the bit at the podium. I was surprised to learn that he only died 5 years ago, but he reached the grand old age of 98.
You’re not wrong but I still think they’re worth watching. The final one just barely though (Lassard was still funny IMO).

The guy who makes sounds with his mouth also appears in a cameo in "Spaceballs" (which was called "La loca historia de las galaxias" in Spain).
Si quieres ver un auténtico ejemplo de "walk of shame" hay una película que te gustará y lo retrata bien: "Walk of Shame" ("La peor noche de mi vida" en Hispanoamérica y "Vaya resaca" en España)
Your evil laugh is so cute, I'd let you take over the world so we'd be covered in fuzzy stuffed animals..
And the 14 weeks thing to be a cop, it's only 16 weeks for Basic training for the military..
Loca Academia de Policia... A Great one among the most great ones. This is a movie that nowasays is so much polemic. But for us, who where born before the 2000, is maybe the best example as an international comedy for all people (not all ages). There are a few others, like Ace Ventura or The Mask (I personally LOVE Jim Carrey as a comedian and as an actor), but this absurd humor is the core of it all. The Larvel Jones fall with the glass guy greeting Mahoney is just pure cartoon in real life. Now that's talent.
I love this movie. Steve Gutenberg played in a movie about a serial killer with orange hair. It was pretty good.
A lot of guys ignore the laugh, and that's about standards. I mean, if you're gonna get into the Evil League of Evil, you have to have a memorable laugh. What, do you think Bad Horse didn't work on his whinny? His terrible death-whinny?
Police Academy 2 is Más o menos... 3 is pretty good. After 3 they go downhill sharply.
The Blue Oyster Bar^^ xD loooll
This wasn't the only raunchy comedy Kim Cattrall did before becoming Samantha on Sex and the City. Around the same time as this movie, she appeared in a movie called "Porky's" where she grabbed A LOT of attention! Check that one out sometime!
The actor who played Larvell Jones was also in : Spaceballs. And other movies
