Yo broski! I'm a pro woodworker and amateur plumber. I've always done my own plumbing since I've been too poor to hire a pro. Over the years I've installed 4 water heaters, replaced all the galvanized pipe in my basement in one day, several remodels, and lost track of how many times I've had to pull a toilet to get a toy that's been lodged in the bend. Sometimes I've wanted to jump off a roof mid-project, but turning the water on with no leaks at the end is so damn satisfying. Your videos are great. I love watching a master do his trade. NYC plumbers have to be the best of the best since you guys are working on all kinds of jacked up stuff going back well over a hundred years sometimes. I know it's hard work but you make it look easy. Props to all the hard working tradesmen who keep the world turning. Peace broski!
Wow! I worked for a water utility 22+ years. They would often host "tapping contests" where teams would add a valve to a large pipe under pressure in the shortest time possible. Some clever engineers manages to adapt this technology for the plumber. Outstanding.
thanks for your comment the EasyFit is a patented product with dual seal technology it was designed in the UK and has been sold for just over 10 years.
The Easyfit seals on the ends of the pipe as well as the sides unlike a saddle valves and is classified as a ball valve and has a 12 month guarantee in the US@@aquaphobicFish
@@aquaphobicFishYes true but saddle valves are extremely flawed in design and have a very high rate of failures. Most plumbers won't install them because of this fact.
I am a retired plumber. That valve is a life saver.I own several rental properties with older mains with a few old gate valve that I dread having to open and close if needed.I am gonna install a few of those.👍👍
If the EasyFit ever stops working you can replace the valve core without shutting off the water by using the EasyFit recore tool. That alone makes it worth the money.
This was amazing to see! I've been asked to fix plumbing things before change taps, fix a leak, etc, but never touched the jobs for fear of making it worse (I'm a welder, not plumber). I never even knew it was possible to do plumbing on pipes that are still fully pressurized. Very educational in more things then just plumbing (I never knew why things lined up easier when going diagonally for screws). I also like the way you gave the information, it was professional and well thought out~
Dude amazing video. best one of this valve ive seen. Your NYC cadence makes your videos masterful. If radio was still big id say you could make it big on the radio lol. You got a gift plumbing and that voice.
"Hey ya, so I need content and I want to show off my easy fit isolator valve, can I install it temporarily at your facility?" This is how I imagine those awkward phone calls went 😅
Omg!!!!!! I needed this so bad years ago!! All 4 of the water shut off lines from the main though the water meeter all failed and could not turn off the water. This would have saved me sooooo much trouble that day!
I'm always amazed by the difficulty of simply turning off the water in NYC and the fact that inventions like this get people so excited. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool product and great review!
This is why I love engineering. When I bought my starter home which was built 100 years ago I was concerned about the old shutoff valve which looked corroded and flimsy. I imagined a product such as this which I could put in front of the existing shutoff and not have to mess around with the old shutoff. Engineers see a problem and find a solution. Seeing how often the problem is getting supers to agree to a shutoff, this product alone will make plumbers job so much easier.
Really just a bolt on line stopper fitting for copper, like a Mueller or TDW used in the gas distribution business every day. A good adaption for a very old product. Pricy but worth it for leaks, like the pro-press.
That's pretty good. When my mains tap started leaking I thought it'd be a big thing to replace it, but the guy who came out just unscrewed it and screwed the new one on. Because he had the tap set to the open position, it went on without any resistance. Makes a bit of mess but it works
This solution can actually save you valuable time and allow you to make more money. Instead of waiting for a water shutdown, you can install this in 5 minutes and get on with the job! Impressive.
Good innovation from UK. Definitely handy to have to for when things have gone south im a hurry. They also make auto bleeding radiator valves that can be handy.
Hey bud. Love you and your videos. Great content every time. That valve wouldn’t work for me in NJ because you’re not allowed to drill into a water line to create a valve and also we aren’t allowed to have needle piercing valves on water lines. Ty for the video on the product
Thanks for the video! Now I knkw these exist and don't have to call the water company now! Appreciate it, bud! Keep up the awesome work, my dude! Love your videos
If you need to do this a lot a water freezing kit is cheaper those valves are 150-500$ a valve also I use to think you were air sealing those o rings so even if they got old the would still be functioning I changed that option for these and pro press fittings when I couldn’t sleep one night and went down a rabbit hole watch watch repair videos
It's a sick product, but dang is it not cheap! Also, it does limit the shut off point to the existing pipe network, but I guess that can be worked around...
@@DinDooIt if you own a plumbing business in an expensive area, there’s no way you wouldn’t charge that at minimum lol. Total profit for this at $1500 is $386.00 after all overhead costs and taxes and paying your employee to install this. Oh and we have to legally warranty this item for 2 years cause it’s a permanent and it malfunctions? You now just lost all profits. But if you’re a small company or a solo plumber and don’t have any employees you make around $521. “It’s a 5 minute install”, let’s get real here, you take your time to investigate issue needing this device and driving there and diagnosing exactly where to install this probably took you minimum 2 hours, then you need to order this item and return which is another 1-2 hours. 3-4 hours of you or your employees time invested. I’m now thinking this should be closer to $2000.00.
IF YOU DON'T CLEAN THE COPPER FIRST WITH A CLEANINGPAD WHERE IT'S SHINY, YOU'LL HAVE TROUBLE FREEZING IT. WHEN YOU CLEAN THE COPPER A CONDUCTS BETTER AND FREEZES RIGHT AWAY. THAT MOST LIKELY WAS YOUR PROBLEM.
I needed one of these recently. The customer was stealing water. He had two meters at the sidewalk. One for his shop and the other for his restaurant. He poured cement into the meter box and smoothed it level with the sidewalk. He then convinced the city that the shop meter was the only one for the whole property. when i had to rebuild a bibb faucet I couldn't stop the flow.
Great for if a stopcock is seized or broken and the pressure is too high to freeze the pipe, can put that on upstream, now possible to remove that old valve entirely, just put in a straight.
Hard to believe there would be no debris inside the line but this valve is hard to believe in itself to begin with. Must be expensive but invaluable when needed.
Great job explaining the install and this product in general, instead of bloviating about yourself like everybody else does in these videos. I do however wonder if this valve creates some type of a restriction in water flow
I have used these they aren’t too bad they cost 50 quid in the Uk which is a bit steep for a isolation valve. The problem which them is what they do to the pipe I have seen it crush the pipe or have seen a seal leak which isn’t too bad because you can tighten up the screws. Plus they only seem to come in 15mm versions. Personally I prefer a freezing kit some problem can destroy the pipe but it is more adaptable. On steel it never goes wrong from my experience. Personally I prefer an isolation and a drain down.

this is probably the only commercial thats worth watching
Any chance we have a next update like a year later or something?
This product is not new. It’s came from Europe, like propress and pex .
City’s also use it to tap mains.
Yep, products like these been in use in Europe for like 50 years
I've even used these one 2,5 inch steel pipes
I fitted one 15 years ago in the uk. And it still works well with no leaking.
7 years or more with no issues on hot and cold pipes in the kitchen. Very useful.

The great thing about this is that you don't have to install it until you need it.
This is wild. What a great product. I'd love to see one disassembled after an install. See what shape the pipe is in that it cut.
Silver Cymbal has shown how these work aswell

Bless you for referring to the instructions, good man!
I've looked these up in the past even with them being around 100 bucks the amount of time saved makes them totally worthwhile.
I see them now from $300 - $500 depending on the pipe size. When was it around $100?
"Hey ya, so I need content and I want to show off my easy fit isolator valve, can I install it temporarily at your facility?" This is how I imagine those awkward phone calls went 😅

Made by the same company which produces the Aladdin Valve in Britain. Great Product. Glad that they brought it here and sized for our systems.
That is important - sized to pipes used in the target country.

Used these on a hvac system 22ish years ago. We had larger ones 1-1 1/4" pipe and if I remember right they were all brass and cost around $400 each.
Where can you purchase these valves? There perfect!!!
