Unusual to hear someone expressing an opinion that I share and wish was more widely expressed: we are only the custodians of our collections and should endeavour to keep them in good hands. Thanks
Very helpful, I service binoculars & this model is a difficult one to disassemble. I will be using the heat technique you have suggested to remove the occular holders. I have one of the same "Strap Spanners" that you use (identical) This will not budge the thread & this has stopped my service efforts on this model of Zeiss 8x30 !
Hello. I have just purchased Hensoldt Wetzlar 8 x 30 Dienstglas binoculars. They have some sort of graticule and are well used. There appears to be fungus within the lens on both sides. Is this something that can be rectified. Thanks.
Do you know of a source for new screws, just bought a dienstglas 6 x 30 and a couple of the screws are mangled. Thanks for the excellent video now I'll have to give it a try.
i have a 7 x 50 dienstglas set with the left eyepiece adjuster loose. If you press down it will enable you to adjust focus. How can I properly seat it to fit snug? Looks like it was dropped on that side. Bakelite cup is cracked missing a piece. However, the optics are clear and I use these often. Any source for the Bakelite eyepiece?
Hi. Yes the 7x50 dienstglas are nice.any maker but Zeiss particularly, first the eye pieces if you look on eBay you should get a plastic set there.if you are looking for a bakelite set, there is an optic forum on whermacht awards you may get a set there if you ask the collectors or buy a wrecked set of binos on eBay even the civi versions of that era are the same thread as the military version, now in think you mean the ocular, when you speak of pressing it down, this is easy fixed if you undo the eye cup take it right off underneath it you will find 3 tiny screws tighten these and you should be sorted I hope that has helped let me know how you get on. Will
