The noise is so loud at times, drowning out what little happiness that we have, thank you for the reminder. If action figures help reduce the noise then play as long as you can. Ninja, your playing brings us joy as much as it does you.

My favorite action figure of all time is Fright Features Egon Spengler from the Real Ghostbusters line. By the time my brother and I got into Ghostbusters, RGB had been canceled and was on syndication on USA Cartoon Express. My brother went to a garage sale with our grandmother and great grandmother and found that Egon figure. He demanded that they get it for me because Egon is my favorite Ghostbuster. I came home from Story Hour at the library (I was 3) and my brother thrust that figure at me as soon as I came in the door. Whenever I see that figure, that's what I think of.

I'm pretty damn sure there's a great many of us that feel just like you brother.
Growing up dirt poor, I cherished what toys I would get on my birthday and on Christmas morning. As a 50, yes, a 50 year old man, my collection brings a moment of peaceful tranquility to a life that can be chaotic at times when I really need it.

Right with you. 48 here. I remember one time mom got me a bootleg He-man. I was clowned for it... and back then disappointed. But no, just one more time to tell her thanks mom, and look, I'm doing alright .

The older I get I have to constantly remind myself to be happy with what I have and not what I don't. That negative feeling can throw your whole day off. Focus on what you can control and focus on the present, not the past.

This is exactly why I collect. The noise gets deafening, but gets quieter when I look at my figures.
I never had a good way of describing it before, thank you

  • @AllBreaksLoose

Well damn.... A friend asked me awhile back if I'm content with life. I said for the most part...yes.
I appreciate what I have. And I appreciate that Im aware of knowing what I don't want or need. Including collecting action figures...
I remember what action figures I had as a kid too...and I enjoy them then as I enjoy what I have now. And now as a 52 year old, 80% of my collection are all customs I made. And I enjoy doing that. It helps relax and unwind a bit.
Block out the noise as you said.
And life is noisy. Find that quiet time when ya can everyone... Great video ninja. Keep it going

I grew up remarkably blessed to get alot of stuff every Christmas or birthday. After hard times came and my family split I had to sell a majority of my collection I've become so much more appreciative over what I do have. I'm not complaining about my circumstances, and as difficult as it is to make ends meet has made me more appreciative for what I have no matter how big or small my collection is.

"My minds a machine and its always in overdrive" I'm an over thinker, and a planner. Just how it is. Taking a minute to handle action figures, kills it. It's the only thing. Im so happy to be where I'm at. It's touch and go. But I have a roof, I have a car, I have a dog. Shit gets loud. Being able to turn it down once in awhile is nice.

This hit too hard! Just lost a friend that got out of rehab, borrowed $20 bought a pill and never woke up. We can’t blame the borrower…we must blame the companies profiting on the deaths and pain. Keep this up! We all need this, even in our brightest moments! ❤️

14 - 19yr old...during these yrs I wasn't collecting really. At 14 I gave most of the figures to my baby brother but still kept a few. So me during these yrs to see my collection now. I would be like oh cool, but inside be secretly excited 😊

Thank you… thank you so incredibly much… I sincerely needed this given my profession and all I’m currently caught up in at the moment. You’re 100% right, I need to enjoy what it is that I love to silence the noise and that most certainly is my collection. My collection of action figures, my collection family and loved ones, and collection of accomplishments I’ve been reminded of to have made it this far in life. Thank you so very much, I really needed to hear this. I was sinking these past couple of days but I just needed to be given a little perspective 🙏🏽🙇🏽‍♂️

I remember many xmas things were canceled or couldn't be afforded that you "wish" for or others had. But my guardians did their best. Now i look back and remember my mom got me the og VAMP. Or my dad scuffing me up because he found out i stole joes. Taught me to earn stuff the right way. Or almost 50 blessed with 20 years of mil service to have 2 boys and a little girl. I walk my basement with them and hear the smiles and imagination coming from them. That's my new silence.

This video broke me, especially at the end. We're all going through stuff, bad stuff, some worse than others. But I find some comfort knowing that all around the world there is people loving the same hobby as I do, that even if people close to me do not understand it, there is people that do. Im Brazilian and i got to connect with some many people from other countries because of this hobby, I’m really grateful for it. To all you collectors out there, i wish you all the best there is in this world.

I think we had more appreciation as children because parents had us wait or work for those gifts. They were gifts given with love. People just buy things now not for love but validation or bragging rights. Its just as important to share, instead of buying for ourselves buy more for the people we love/ like/ friends etc.

  • @KeyzCollects

This one hit hard. Years ago my escape was drinking. I didn't like the way I felt after. I didn't always like who I became. Then one day, I randomly ran across one of Greg Cook's videos. I instantly felt connected to the child I used to be and the part of me that still is. I thought about the money I spend to escape and look around at nothing to show for it. I thought about what it was taking away from me on top of that, and I made a change. I still drink occasionally with friends etc, but I don't feel like I need it. I'm not abusing my body like I was. I'm not taking the potentially destructive risks I was taking. I'm simply much more whole and I'm sure more healthy. I'm not sure anything has affected my life as much as this crazy hobby we're in. Thank you Ninja for being a part of this journey. You help put things in perspective even more and let ones like me know we're not alone.

I don’t know if what I’m feeling is exactly like you mentioned, but I’ve been pulling figures out of the case that I haven’t posed in months. Even years. I feel last year I was so caught up with accumulating characters that I wasn’t taking the time to sit back and realize “You know, I have a lot of cool stuff here” I forgotten how happy I was that I received a certain figure or haven’t really noticed how beautiful certain figures are. I recently been pairing up different characters with each other and creating fun displays. I’m at the point where I’m not even thinking about what to buy next. I’m just really happy with what I have. I’m sure there’s more I want to get but for this year, I’m going to enjoy my current collection a little more.

I love this video, its a great message ninja. I think we should all take time to reflect and give thanks. We should all learn how to control our emotions and reactions to the nonsense. Its only there to divide people, most of it manufactured to distract us btw.
I have dreams of eventually owning a home with my girl out in the country and having that display cave kind of like ninja's but idk if it will ever happen the way things are looking. My small rental has all my figures in boxes, its kinda sad lol. I do have a real nice shelf in my closet dedicated to current favorite figures tho lol. I still have great people and opportunities around me, take care of eachother out there. Much love from wisconsin

Younger me would look at my collection and freak out big time, my main collection is everything I loved as an 80s/90s kid, adult me looks at my collection and some times I ask myself what’s the point in collecting at all and I think about all the money I’d have in the bank had I not bought everything, would I be happier or would I still be in that dark place I find myself in some times….the answer is who really knows so I keep going forward and buying and adding things to the collection.
Those dark places where the noise is crippling often subside when I go into collector brain, when I’m hunting down a figure in store or I’m sitting for hours refreshing EB games (game stop for you Americans) site looking for that damn dc multiverse star fire PO hahaha or when I’m simply posing up a new figure…
Life is too short to not embrace the things and hobbies we love and life is just a little bit better when we have people we can share those things with it, in person or on here…
Way to go ninja…got me all in my feels hahaha 🤘🏻🇨🇦🤘🏻

You know? I think that collecting action figures, the stuff that I like, and the stuff that I liked as a kid are part of who I am now, this is the shit I want to do, I want to dedicate MY LIFE to this and make people happy with what I do.
In the second keep it real I said that I wanted to learn how to model and 3D print to share all that stuff we used to enjoy as kids. To this day, I´m still working real hard to get to that point. Currently, I have half the budget I have in mind to buy a new computer that can support the programs I need to learn to use to get where I want to go, because I´m dead serious with this.
This is for y´all guys, NEVER give up, remember that good things always take time to come, and if everything goes wrong, it´s because we are not at the end. I hope y´all doing great, and as always, be safe.

She also has said she ups it to a hour if I sit down in the floor to do it apparently I revert back to being 8. Thank you for this video man. I may be only 15 but I too use action figures to quiet noise but recently they are starting to become the noise a bit because I keep rushing to try and get the next one and fill my collection, fill my display, yet I haven’t just sat for a bit and truly appreciated the ones I got. My collection has come a long way since I was young, I used to not really collect but just get loads and loads of the same 4 characters, those being the TMNT. Whenever my mom had extra money to spare on me she used to get me a new turtle and that would keep me occupied for days. Due to circumstances I won’t get into (She is not dead and I still see here semi frequently) I ended up moving in with my aunt but to this day the turtles are a big part of my life, sure I gave away my Playmates toys turtles to my uncle (he was having a child and also loves turtles so I wanted to give him my collection from childhood so his child could grow up with similar fond memories of the fad 4) but even my first figures that started my new era of collecting (which I now only get 1 version of a character, with only 2 cases of me replacing figures because they weren’t all I chalked them up to be) were the brothers (specifically it was the Batman vs TMNT figure line) I have started to move more towards a focus on Marvel, another huge part of my childhood (my mom was a huge nerd so she introduced me to the TMNT & Marvel at a young age as well as some other stuff but those 2 stuck the most) but with every display I make I always throw in at least the brothers (sometimes I squeeze in my Casey too) but with Marvel there are so many more great characters that I want that it’s starting to get noisy trying to collect them all. So thank you for forcing me to reflect, be grateful, and reminding me what it’s all about Articulated Ninja.
