Steps:
1. Hit window key+R to open RUN
2. Type some command (we will show you)
3. Format Step
Note: You may see a small switch near your card, push it up/down as per card design to unlock write protection.

This didn't work for me either...At first. However, after following these steps AND left clicking the button that reads "restore device defaults" it worked just fine to format.
it's "disk part" method. if u already tried then skip the video and save your time.

Guys, first just make sure that switch on your sd card reader (if any) is not 'locked'. If so, just unlock it and you're good to go!!

Sure, I will write it to you here (Please note that if your card is not physically damaged, it must work on your SD Type Card).
Steps are:
➤Hit window key+R to open RUN
➤type diskpart
➤ type list disk
➤ carefully select the SD Card Disk, if you mistakenly select the main system drive, it might erase your system. Here I selected Disk 1
➤ type attributes disk clear readonly
➤ exit, exit and then inside your PC (My Computer) right click on SD Card and select FORMAT. That's it.
Followed your instructions EXACTLY (Win 7). It doesn't work. Card is still not-formatable, no matter what position the switch is in.
Sorry to say but your SD Card might be completely damaged. You should go for brand new.

I/O Device error stands for input and output device error. We guess, you have problem with your USB port or USB serial Driver. Please check that out in your Device Manager. If this is solved, you can go to further step.

if its not working you can eject the SD card and then restart the computer , put the SD card back in the computer and click on scan and fix

For that, you can slide the unlock switch placed on your SD card up and down. If it does not help, FORMAT is only your option as shown in this video.
It used to work for me but now it doesn't.. Only way for me to delete the photos is to copy and paste them onto my desktop (no matter which memory card I use) and then format the card in my camera in order to erase the content there. So its safe to assume its my canon sx710HS doing this..

Please retype the Diskpart Command clearly once again. And this must open a new command window where you have to give another command properly.
If this does not help, please open the Command Prompt in Administrator mode. You can do this by Right Click on Command Prompt from Windows and "Run as Administrator".

You cannot copy to the write-protected SD Card. You need to remove that write-protected first. This works for SD card only.

Please run command prompt as an Administrator. For this, search command prompt on windows and right click and select as an Administrator.

My card's locking/unlocking pin is broken so seems nothing can be done to disable write protection.
One suggestion for you: Go to nearby Camera repairing shop, see if they can help you in that situation.

well i cant open the diskpart, i already type diskpart in cmd but it wont come feelsbadman...
To open diskpart, you must have Administrator Access to your Computer. Please verify this issue first.
