Isa is a completely made up name for Jesus. Muslims try to justify because it looks and sounds like Ieesus which is the Greek transliteration of YESHUA. But Isa means " camel" it has a meaning of its own. It's disturbing to think such ignorance exists around language in Islam. A proper study of linguistics and languages proves the Quran wasn't given to Muhammad in pure Arabic , because Arabic isn't a pure language. it's made up of different languages and is a relatively new language The Quran uses man made sayings from around 20 different languages. Of course, Muhammad plagurised from poetry , the Old Testament, Hinduism, pagan ideologies, stupid science of the 4th - 6th century, and there's no proof who truly wrote it. The final S is a greek suffixed for names. Yashua' has a meaning, and I'ysa too, different meaning, both apply to Jesus. This is very simple answer: They dont know yet.
Sometime i use translate over Japanese or Chinese texts because I dont know the language.
And sometime I accidently translating the word that supposed to be someone's name.

Name translation was a common thing actually. Only in the era of passports and national IDs do we now forget this practice.
For example, if you look at the names of some prophets in Islam, you'd notice they are in their Greek forms, not straight from Hebrew. Yūnus from Ionas, instead of directly from Yonah, and Ilyās from Elias instead of directly from Eliyahu.
