Ok..its me agian I finished the 4 rows on bottom 2 wide elastic rows on top it's so Cute I cant thNk you enough for doing this video it made it so easy to do !!!!
Thank you with this technique you can control how tight the shirring is. If you use this as a waistband it will also gives you support it acts like a shape wear which is always a plus in my book!
I just stretch it enough to gather the fabric. I test it by placing the elastic on top of the fabric then I stretch the elastic, when I release the elastic I let the fabric kind of stick to the elastic to gather. I hope that make sense to you dear. :)
I have used both techniques: 1) Elastic "thread" in the bobbin/regular thread matching weight and correct needle type/size on top, 6-8 rows 1/4" apart or... 2) 1/8" soft, flat elastic on wrong side of fabric with correct needle and fabric weight/matching regular thread in both bobbin case and on top, 6-8 rows 1/4" apart.I prefer second method. The less space between rows, the more stretch, so 1/4" perfect for me! It is fast and so easy to produce pro results. 😊
SEW ALDO Use a ZIGZAG stitch to encase the 1/8" flat elastic, but to sew with elastic (thread) in the bobbin use a STRAIGHT stitch. Either way, the elastic is always sewn on the WRONG side of the fabric.

So simple! But do you know how you determine the what lengths of fabric to elastic you would use! This is so great, thanks for sharing!
I simply multiply the bust measurement by 1.5 and that is how much fabric I will use. For bigger hips I suggest to use the hip size x 1.5 .

Micaella Santos You can do a test fabric to see if it will work, also you can try a zigzag stitch.
@@sewaldodiy my sewing machine has straight stitch only. I cant afford nice sewing machine. Anyways, great video!
Could you still use a regular straight stitch ?
You can but it will not gather as much.
two thumbs up lady, two thumbs up!!!!!
Is it possible to shirr without elastic ?is it possible for threads?
Yes. If you use a zigzag stitch and stretch the elastic band as you sew, it will allow the elastic to stretch and not break.

I made one already here it is ruclips.net/video/Zds0Am9nXyM/видео.html
Do you cut the elastic shorter than the fabric because you stretch it
I cut the elastic after I sewn it. That way I can feel the stretchiness of the fabric.
If we use thick elastic for sewing what will be the result...will it be good as thin elastic gives??
If you use a thick elastic it will be bulky and not very comfy against the skin.
