The game when things are looking dire giving one player an opportunity to bail on the game itself so they technicality can't loose is such a wild and interesting design choice.
Jon is exceptionally gifted when it comes to having his arse out. Everyone is seated around a table for the entire video and yet somehow he managed to have his majestic plumage on display throughout. Glorious. Never change.
I played this once as a kid. When the Klingon showed up on the VHS and started "talking" to me through the tv, I couldn't understand what was happening and got ultra scared. Pretty dumb, still remember the fear.
Because of Board as Hell, me and my friends meet every Thursday for a new game and it’s some of the best time I’ve had with them in years. Thanks for the inspiration James!
This video is one of a handful of funhaus videos that kept my spirits up while I was in a really low place living at a junkyard with no clean running water an a space heater for warmth at the beginning of 2023. Thank you, each and every one of you.
Highlight of the video was KlingJon yelling "LONG. LIVE. BUKA'KIIIIIIII" Also, Patrick HAD to know he looks exactly like Lt. Commander Billups from Lower Decks right!? He's even got the same rank. It's uncanny 😆
AHHH played this with my family a bunch as a kid, and yeah it was really common to just barely win like that. Those time cards suck especially when a bunch are in time skips. Love that actor tho, he makes the whole thing worth it. When i saw the thumbnail I was REALLY hoping patrick would have the opportunity to bail, and I was not disappointed. Everyone's faces when he called Elyse "Puj" made me wheeze it was so great. like no one expected her to get roasted so hard hahaha
Wait, the time cards can be during the time skips? Are there multiple video options that do play those times? Like you can play version 1 that skips 52:00 to 49:00 but version 2 includes that time and skips something else?
@@cptobvius Nope it's just a vcr tape that plays the same set of events at the same times. It'd be cool if they updated the version to have it be randomized tho. The cards themselves have two times they can apply to (It'll be like at 47:17 OR 16:12), but yeah they can list a time during the skip (and the rules say you can only use them during that time, not after). The concept is cool and it's silly fun but it's not really a well done board game.
Hollow victory! 34:38 ol cheater Bukakk, flipped his dice roll from a 1 to a 5 - you can't hide from me you monster. I also doubt if half his cards did what he claimed, he sure got some perfect stuff at the end there... I also feel for Elyse trying to narrate everyone else's silent moves lol
YES!!!!!!!!!! This is without doubt my favorite Funhaus series. Also my crew recently started playing Kings Dilemma and it’s great. So many great recommendations from you all! ❤️
Oddly enough my roommate just spent $150 on Craigslist to buy a CRT/VCR combo TV. He's now bought 250+ of VHS's mainly of TV shows or movies, but I'm trying to convince him to get the board game tapes to catalog. He already buys random tapes to see what's on them and then blank/record over them.
I am so excited for this, I used to play this with my Parents and Brother so much as a kid, pretty sure my parents still have it somewhere! I remember sometimes my brother and I would just watch VHS by itself as if it was an episode!
I always find it funny that I saw these VHS games around the house when I was little(I specifically remember this one and RoboCop) but, it wasn’t until RUclips that I’d ever actually see how they worked.
So by the rank according to the insignia on their collars: James has the Commander rank Patrick has the Lieutenant Commander rank Jon has the Lieutenant Junior Grade rank Elyse is Chief Petty Officer..couldn't even make her an ensign like Wesley Crusher.
@@mattkidroske According to someone on Quara after a quick google search, the uniform colour means: Red: Command Blue: Medical/Sciences Yellow: Security/Tactical/Engineering In this case, Red Uniform "Command" would mean strictly ship and fleet command, Like Picard wore when he was Captain. So James wearing yellow would be correct as he would essentially be "Engineering Commander" of his assigned task force.
@@ChrisRand-gf7lz then shouldn't Jon be wearing yellow or blue? Not trying to argue with you, just in the past I felt like the uniforms were something my trekkie friends could get very nitpicky over. I appreciate your response!
@@mattkidroske Technically, Jon can wear Red if he is part of Enterprise ship command that has been tasked with accompanying the Engineering group as they do their repairs. Ship Command run the gambit of ranks as well, just like the other departments, so you'll have every rank there, not just Captain and Commander. Usually on ships (Naval Vessels), lower ranking members of the Command will join visiting task forces (like the repairs group) to assist with navigating the ship, securing any clearance they may need, etc. They'll also act as liaison between repair group and Ranking Ship Command, who are responsible for the care and operation of the ship. If you think of a Ship as a large business, Ship Command is like the management department of the business, they oversee the daily operations of the business while ensuring the other departments (customer service, shipping/receiving, sales, etc) are tasked with duties and have the materials they need. Those departments have corresponding leading managers (like James as Engineering Commander) who over see their tasked department. So Jon would be along the lines of a lower ranking Management Department official accompanying the Maintenance department guys to observe the fixing of a broken machine, or else maybe the building sustained damage and they wanted to get a scope of it to report to the CEO, president, Board of Directors, etc. Ultimately it's something important enough to need management for, but not important enough that the head honchos need to be there.
@@ChrisRand-gf7lz I like your explanation. Under normal circumstances I feel like that would mean James wouldn't have authority over Jon, but since this is an emergency scenario, command would default to the highest ranking officer on the ship. Thank you for your research! Also I think the expression is run the gamut instead of gambit.
I just love your board as hell videos! And as a Star Trek Klingon (TM) fan this was great! I wish you all the best and hope be more board in the future
Love it when Funhaus plays board games. Perfect way to enjoy my weekend evening.
👍
😎
When mouse trap? That'd be a cluster fuck of funny
James and Patrick sitting next to each other really look like a big brother going trick or treating with his younger brother
The game when things are looking dire giving one player an opportunity to bail on the game itself so they technicality can't loose is such a wild and interesting design choice.
James constantly ending on blank spaces with nothing to do is hilarious
It took him like 10 turns to land on a square with writing then he got kavac’d
Jon is exceptionally gifted when it comes to having his arse out. Everyone is seated around a table for the entire video and yet somehow he managed to have his majestic plumage on display throughout. Glorious. Never change.
Jon is consistently one of the only people who actually remembers to use the timestamped cards in games like this.
35:53 “gravity is disabled in the saucer section, no one there is able to move”

In all rooms in the saucer section.
@@Aldumil582 ah okay, misheard it

Board as Hell is back. Love when there are characters and Elyse is involved.

I literally pissed my self during captain E.O. At Disneyland when the long fingered lady tries to grab you
I played this game with my dad in the 90s! Thanks for bringing back the memories !
Funhaus and Star Trek? Two great things that go great together!
Like Peanut Butter & Chocolate!
Holy shit, I just started, but even from James's intro, I know this is going to be great.
The videos where they play these weird video board games are some of my favorites! So glad this series is back

I am such a freaking nerd, I recognized him as Gowron instantly, the eyes confirmed it.
Makes me want to re-watch DS9, just for more Gowron.
Glory to you and your funhaus!
Thats Gowron's cousin.
@@MrWartburgS9 & TNG. The more Star Trek, especially with Gowron.
Yes, Gowron! I saw his face and recognised the eyes straight away! Can't believe I gorgot the name when I've just watched TNG 😂
It would have been hilarious if Jacob was playing this game and seeing him wearing a Starfleet uniform.
He would constantly quote line from Star Wars just to upset both fandoms.. lol

I like how they have Gowron's actor with just slightly different ridges
He doesn't do the freaky bug eye thing he does as Gowron though.
With a Cardassian name as well
Gowron's ridges looked like an upside down vagina... lol
@@stevem7192 I didn't think he did that as much in TNG as he did in DS9 (where is a little more psycho)

Having played this game with an ex-gf several times, I am most impressed they were able to find a working VCR in 2023.
Especially when all the best repair shops take forever to repair them. I've been waiting for my local shop to repair mine so I can watch night court.
I think it's a prop. The video looks to clear to be coming from that VCR.

I had this game in my youth. It filled several evenings of fun.
All of that build up for a roll and move made me laugh so hard.
There was a call back to this game on Lower Decks. They played Bat'leths & Bihnuchs with a video recording of General Martok DMing
I am so glad Board as hell is finally backkkkkkkk!!!! It is my favorite series and I rewatch the old one now and then.
My friends and I used to play this. We used experience Bij as a trash talk for years.
Gowron's actor doesn't do the eye thing as Kavok or whatever. Thats how you know they're different.
Had to look the game up, the klingon is played by Robert O'Reilly, who plays Gowron. Knew he sounded familiar
