In this episode, we waterproof the pump house. This was a crucial step because we also build a natural living roof on it. Time to water the roof!
I'm a Fan - My wife and I watch your videos to relax and take a break from TV, very entertaining. I am retired electrician of 40 years, most of which I was the foreman or supervisor - sure, I could comment on your methods but you're doing fine. Good luck and keep those videos coming. You are an inspiration to all married couples involved in building projects.
I like how you both explain why you are using one method of construction over another, or why a certain material is being utilized rather than other choices. It really helps the viewer see the logic of everything and in a way that makes sense. Thanks!
One thing I love about these videos is that years from now you can show them to your children and say this is how Mum and Dad built your first home.
Aawww, Bumpy so sweet. He loves you. I like your Spencer. You've got a hell of a man Missy. Love you guys. 😘💓💙💝💚💜
The more i watch the more im inspired to start working on something similar on some family land where the original home burned down and has been untouched since
How can anybody give a like down I put a like up as soon as I see a new video Without even watching it 5 thumbs up for every time I watch y'alls videos I have nothing else to say y'all are doing awesome job Who is with me thumbs up Let's make these young couple happy
I think Bear gets quite jealous of the donkey... bless his little heart, lol
Is pooh-bear a republican? :)
Gordon Hall Can’t be because he’s all emotion and no logical thought. Has to be a Demonrat.
@@max10eb He certainly did snatch that morsel of food right out of donkey's mouth just like a Repug!!

Ok
I've been watching for just over a year... glad y'all decided to video this experience and share it with all of us. Thanks
Starting off my Saturday right, "Life Uncontained", 👍❤🇨🇦
Nice job on the pump house. Spencer, glad that you were not bit by the black widow spider and Mackenzie, nice baby bump. 👍👍🥰
It is one of the best nests I've ever seen. I feel that I have shared building it with you. Keep the great work. May Allah save you and protect you.
I appreciate the nod to Dick Proenneke’s workspace with the moon in the door and living roof. Great job on the build.
You guys do such good work! I'd be interested in a video where you talk about why you decided to have a living roof. Thanks!
As someone who has designed and installed multiple green roofs since college over the year...it looks good. I might suggest cutting some pasture grass with seeds and throwing it up there as well and at some point covering the whole roof this fall with grass clippings to act as a mulch.
Keep up the good work.
I am a general contractor and noticed that you guys do not have a paslode. You should definitely invest in a framing nailer. It saves you hours. It’s looking great!
From one contractor to another ... Amen!
Or a battery powered DeWalt framer.
Thanks for the great videos. It reminds me a lot of when I was young and my parents and me built our home in the woods. So much work. A real labor of love.
I'd have put those three boards on top running horizontally, not along the slope of the roof.
That way you minimize the chance of the soil getting waterlogged and spilling out during a storm. Yes, even with grass growing on it, the slope is steep enough to create a slide.
You guys are the one's that out of all vlogs i watch i look forward too and wish the videos were longer.......for real! You are doing an amazing job and love the cute baby bump happening.........so excited to share your journey and want to thank you for allowing us to come on the ride!
Doing great as always, you two are proof love will prevail, wishing you both the best--I still think it’s a Girl just as beautiful as her mother, but I’ll be happy for you both, just for a healthy baby. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think it is a girl too. I told them that on their reveal video.
CJ Howard /// I said the same thing as well 🤗👌👍
For someone who has little building experience you are doing a very professional job.. Well done
I have really enjoyed this series of videos. The patience shown and the attention to detail every step of the way is commendable. I have to confess however that I don't get the Green Roof. Why do you want "stuff" growing on your pump house roof? Is this a "Green" thing?
I just came across your channel last week and have watched lots of episodes so far. Its quite moving watching your struggle and how you both cheerfully tackle the tasks together. You seem to be the perfect couple creating your own private little heaven. Your cheerfulness and positive attitudes are quite inspiring. Its amazing watching the dog too he so obviously loves you both. It may be taking you a hell of a long time but you are doing a good job. You have s lovely baby , I hope you all have many fantastic years of happiness there.
thanks for the video's ya'll sure make it look easy... I can't believe the progress
Your place is looking awesome. When the baby comes,he or she will have loads of fun playing in the yard with his or her animal friends.
I don’t know your plans for a ladder system to easily work on the top, however, library style, rolling ladder system would be SICK! You could have an herb garden up there or a few veggies. I would even put a wildflower patch there💜
America use good judgement about this virus dont panic
Love you two! Keep up the great work/Ideas/ and stuff ! Wife and I are in our 70s retired but you two are an inspiration to watch.
You MUST shake out anything you're going to put on or sit on, living where you do..Glad Spencer didn't get bit. So wonderful to see the donkey, thinking Bear doesn't share those same sentiments, LOL :) As always- your videos are never long enough :) Keep up the great work, as always-wishing you the best.
Aww, pregnancy has its ups and downs, gave birth to my little girl August 5th, amazing experience, hopefully you guys can get a lot of your home done together before your baby comes. All the best!
It is a joy to watch you two making your nest. When is the baby bird due?
Jonathan Godinez they’re talking about the human baby she’s pregnant with... 🤡
Congratulations on baby❤️

So glad to see your upload...saved me from going out into heat and humidity here in Florida for a bit!

BUMPAY!!! LOL Badassery folks! Almost done... yay!
Can just see Spencer @ back door... "Donkay, Bumpay..." That's wrong on soooooo many levels!
Everything is coming out beautiful.
looks great. hope some wild flowers grow on the living roof.
Blue Bonnets would look great. A few scattered around the grounds would be attractive also.
Oh my goodness... congratulations to you both and little bump...🙏😃
You guys are so hard working! Be careful out there!
Bravo! Toujours plein d'astuces. Je me régale à regarder votre construction.
Would you consider a gutter and downspout to get the dirty water away from the pump house?
If they did that they would poopy water u know now
@@angusbewick1895 looking to divert it away from pump house and to a less used area nearby.
Y’all are great! Thank you for showing the bad with the good.
Best wishes for healthy baby and healthy mama...and Spencer too 😉
Omg. The pregnant waddle is starting to show. So adorable
They had better hurry up. Or they will have the baby in the barn.
when did they announce the pregnancy? ive been binge watching the whole journey over the past few days and think i must have missed a couple :/
By the way, you are a very good Carpenter and your wife is a very good helper you two make a good couple and I love how you put those two containers together and made a very nice house looks real nice God bless you both.

Hi guys I stumbled across your channel quite by accident. I love what your doing I much prefer your videos to the pure living for life which I been following for years. Congratulations on the baby from all, your viewers in the UK

Congratulations!! You get the prize for the first YT Channel I've watched to play background music that's not played at 160db above normal! Thank You, BTW, pretty good choice of music. Ya'll rock!
Amen ! HATE how some channels can't seem to master the volume levels.
They blow away your hearing with an obnoxious introduction then talk in whisper tones you can barely hear.
Finally a new episode. Love from Kissimmee, Florida.
@Johnny Draco ....Really? Good to know, I had heard that they moved from FL. Thank you.
love your channel. You guys are so thorough and precise. I learn something every time I watch. Keep the video's coming.
Cool to see this coming together. Any plans to capture that living roof runoff? Maybe plant a garden below that edge? Seems like some nutrient-rich water would be of good use.
You guys are a great couple. It is amazing how well you get along.
This project would stress out most couples and lead to disagreements
I am so worried for your fingers! Please use a push stick with the table saw!
exactly! I cringed when I saw that!
Yep, only being able to count to nine or eight could be a real bummer. Accidents happen when you least expect it.
I nicked my thumb on a table saw (fortunately it wasn't a disaster) and to this day I still don't know how it happened.
I take a TON of precautions with power tools now.
My daddy lost two fingers and a wedding ring on a tractor PTO driven huge sawmill blade when I was 10 years old.
Your doing fine, just be smart......
You can make several different sizes of push sticks using your jigsaw out of 1x4 and 2x4. Check your local library or RUclips for how to's. ER's can be a real BUMMER as can a wife telling you she told you so. Please, please, please! 10 minutes of your precious time!
Y'alls place is looking good! Exciting times building a house.doing the work with your own hands as a couple.extra cool.a new baby is going to be the Cherrie on top.good stuff..best time of your lives.enjoy.
Awsome vlog....yikes that thorn was nasty!!! Love the progress we are seeing....keep it up and always stay safe😉😉🥰
Once again, I love you guy’s. Thanks for taking us on your journey. Great job
First 🤗 please be careful you two, I love you guys, the progress is coming along really good👍🏽😁
When installing the sheeting for walls on the pump house and the plywood sheeting on the roof, just wondering why you didn't cut the pieces to size before nailing it? Seems like it would've been easier than cutting it afterwards.
it's great to see the achievement guys.
just one suggestion though, u must never use fresh cow poop as manure. it just invites parasites which eat up the plant/grass.
trust me, we in india use that manure quite extensively.
Cow pies need to dry completely in the sun, turn them over and dry them again.
true. we pile it in compose for six months before using it.
Amen!
Coming along good you guys...& congratulations to the mommy to be....can't wait until the next video....
Love you two, take two buckets from Home Depo, fill with water put them that wheel barrel and make one trip! It is exhausting watch y’all lol.
We made one of these a few years back you may have to drill small drain holes on the bottom the 1/4 inch gap may not be enough, it may not drain enough water off and it will puddle also you should have sifted that top soil for a clean start but it looks great.
Grass roof over Pumphouse is fine, but Hubby should focus on providing a nest for Momma and Baby. I love your videos. I certainly detect the pregnant waddle as well. There are zero deleterious construction details avoided to date. Recall that you may need a pole for your internet antennas. From Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, Canada
You guys are so detailed, awesome, all
Works are master piece
It's the draining at the edge that nobody some seems to detail. All the rest of it is pretty straightforward. But that edge where the water escapes leaves me a wondering.
@Jeff In Chicago Water in soil and wood has a nasty habit of staying put and damaging the material it is within. Even the flow of water over a material is something to be considered. I think it is all about surface tension and viscosity.
@Jeff In Chicago They are more complicated than would first appear. :0
That's going to be one healthy baby! With all the exercise mom is getting!!! And I agree you look amazing with all work you're doing.
Keep the video's coming. The baby bump is growing. You look great.
Do you think they will name their child " Plumb-bob"?
Bloody amazing, my dears!
But please take care!
Just be super careful!
All love and best wishes, Claire, Berlin
Spencer did more work perhaps but you got the Sh____y job LOL I like watching you two and seeing the progress on the new home and surrounding projects.
I'm 57 years old and never heard the term bumpy for a pregnant woman. That's a good one. Lol
Love your videos, can't wait to see see each project finished.
Black widows love shoes as well.
It is so good to see you two working so well as a team. Blessings to you. One thing that worries me about your living roof, will it not dry out very quickly in the dry months which means you having to water it regularly?
Make sure you watch where the locust thorn entered your foot. They can cause some really bad infections.
She said it went into her shoe, so guess it didn't enter her foot.
@@annwithaplan9766 She said "it went right through my shoe" without specifying whether it went into her foot. Though she wouldnt have probably been all giggles had it pierced her foot.

Why are you both not wearing gloves while handling manure? Or this is actually not a big deal and my question is stupid?

What is the advantage of a little tiny living roof?
You could have invested that much money and effort in building a slanted roof above your water storage tanks. You could then pipe it directly into one of the tanks to allow for additional water collection.
Yeah but it sounds cool. Morons.
@@mnstar53
Ahhh, cool!
An unintended benefit. I hope the county property appraiser doesn't realize that!
I really like your progress in your home greetings from a very distant place Uruguay
Looks good please be careful you two
I get it!
Really enjoy warching your project come together. Your methodical approach to something so ginormous is refreshing...
Are you gonna have horses... great for the kids!
I grew up in Texas and one thing I learned very early is NOT to put on anything that has been outside unless you check it. Boots upsidedown on the bedpost because scorpions... Jackets, shirts, socks, shoes... Tarantulas, spiders, horn toads, lizards you name it they will find it eventually and make a home in it.
Cyrus Cosmo so very true. Woke up with a horny toad in my bed one day; probably could’ve set the world record in high jump that day 😂
Idk what part of Texas u live in. But the side of Texas I live in we don’t need nun of that 😂
Same as here in Australia. Anything inside too we have to check because spiders get in to the house, smacking the shoe upside down and checking gloves inside out
So true
@@photom2 It's a pretty good anchor in a high wind!
Always a pleasure guys!
Dont over do it mama!
Congrats on the baby can’t wait to see the cutie, and your doing aa great job on the house and pump house .
Why didn’t you use pressure treated wood for the rafters?
Amen
rafters are under 3/4 t&g plywood, covered with ice & water shield, highly unlikely that they would ever see water
"Treated" is short for "treated with broad-spectrum poison". It's not doing a favor to any living thing to burden it with that stuff.
@@chalocolina3554 That urban legend was eliminated years ago. Nothing about pressure treated lumber is toxic today.
@@chalocolina3554 We've had trouble with pressure treated lumber that we used for fence posts lately. I don't know what happened, but they snapped at ground level.
Look at you guys!! 256k subscribers. Wow 😲 AWESOME 😎 😘❤️🥰😊😊😊👌🏼
Yea, black widows, had one on me once for 5 seconds. Almost crapped my pants and spiders don't bother me but those suckers...
Looks like mama and baby doing good. Maybe a little tired and morning sickness. Hope all is well and you both are doing well.
Every time I see donkey, I think of Shrek 😂
Looking good. That stain looked good.
Be safe, be good, God bless
That was a lot of effort for the world's smallest lawn! Good work team.
For your water pump house 4 water filters and UV light system
Add a length of gutter and a downspout to the pump house. When you start your main garden, the runoff from that roof is fertilizer. You will of course have to recharge the roof with poop from time to time.
OMGosh! Fresh manure on top of your pump house! Whose idea was that? Why not seasoned manure? Or just NO manure?
Scat house now.
I don't think you ever use green manure. Always seasoned.
@Fancy Brooks, @Norman, @Bent Nickel - In my years of living on a farm I NEVER saw fresh dung kill grass. Where are you commenters getting your information? The internet?
@@bob-ny6kn

sooooooo all that for grass??.....you got plenty grass all around you...why not some herbs or vines or just flowers.
I've been watching your channel for a long time I like how both of you guys work together to make your agenda and I also like the clips that you do with the bloopers it makes you real
Did I miss a video...what's the purpose of the Living Roof on a small pump house when you live on a farm? Plus living out in a rural area...with a child on the way, it seems kind of unwise climbing up a ladder to tend to your living roof...and you're going to have pumps/electrical just below a heavily loaded moisture containing roof. Seems a bit sketchy to me in this particular application...I don't see a big upside. Love your videos and only want the best for you guys.
Click bait.
Having so much fun watching y’all!
Mad me laugh, the dog stealing the donkey's bread, my dog does the same thing to our pony. Apples too.
Bear says any treats given out goes to him first. He's tired of taking a back seat to these fake family members. He belongs, they don't and need to go home. Haha! Hmmm?? Where'd that come from?? Bear seems to like the other animals, just not eating the extra treats. 🤗🙃
Great job guys as usual and congratulations on the bump 👶🏻👪x
