    The hq holden is one of my favourite holdens , but I have see the control arms torn out of the floor pans

    • @nexgenrevamp2976

      @Grant Lucas
      The Hq is one of ours aswell
      You are talking about the rear upper arms I'm guessing. I can imagine in high hp car driven it is possible, although that area is reinforced from factory.
      Hopefully we don't have issues with a more cruiser style build.
      Thanks for commenting

    You should give the HQ a HZ RTS upgrade

    • @nexgenrevamp2976
      @nexgenrevamp2976  Год назад

      Definitely a great idea for improving the handling and stability of a hq.
      There are some draw backs in doing so, one major one is the VIN that is stamped into the front subframe. As it is used to identify the car for things like registering the car, changing to an rts subframe from say a Hz would effectively turn a hq into a Hz as far as rego would be concerned. Yes the body has ID plates but the VIN is the primary identifier used.
      It could realistically hurt value in what is a reasonably original one family owned hq premier.
      Thanks for the comment

    Great work. Do you have to replace the inner and outer sill panels. Also do a full video when you re-assemble the front suspension new bushes ect. Will help alot of guys doing rebuilds

    Great work guys, I was wondering did you give any consideration to check the chassis that it has not sagged inwards [ as they're notorious for that] and straighten it out before painting etc.?

    • @nexgenrevamp2976
      @nexgenrevamp2976  2 года назад

      Thanks for the question and info Barry.
      With the low genuine 76000km on the clock and the unbelievably (for age) great condition of all the orignial body mounts, suspension bushes etc, while dismantling the car and inspecting everything we deemed everything to be more than serviceable.
      Its a great bit of info and tip for dealing with restoring these models.

    good work guys, just found your channel, what paint stripper did you use for the panels? im stripping down my 82 WB and are up to the paint stripping stage so some help would be appreciated 👍 cant wait to see the finished result

    • @nexgenrevamp2976
      @nexgenrevamp2976  Год назад +1

      Hi there mate.
      To be honest I think it was just something ordered from a parts store (Repco perhaps). Nasty stuff though, I do remember would burn skin and eat clothes 100% gloves territory.
      I do remember used the stripper to take off most then a lit of thinners to clean up panels afterwards.
      Cheers for the question, will add anything if comes to mind.

    I don't know if it's possible to do with the original chassis rails but the Castlemaine Rod Shop have a rack and power steering arrangement on the chassis rails they make for HQ to WB.

      @@nexgenrevamp2976 With a rack and pinion steering, it wont be like driving the Queen Mary with the old steering box set up. With how I survived learning and getting my Ps in a HQ, it's a miracle I'm still around!
