Finally someone made a video breaking down what Nesting is and what real life scenarios Nesting is be useful in 💯🙌🏽 Thank you. Needed this for my journey
I use it all the time for adding a transition between 2 shots ... I cut out the last bit of the clip and the first bit of the next clip and nest them and add the transition! Also when I have a shutter problem with lights ... I duplicate the clip and move it a frame forward and blend it and nest everything so i can continue editing smoothly! Great ideas aidin! New ways to use that! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I use the same rode mic that you have and i don't seem to figure out how to obtain this great audio quality that you make. I would really appreciate it if you make a tutorial about this :D
Oh man! I learned something super useful while watching Aidin get his skin tone to a nice Doritos color. Easy on that orange man :) Thanks for sharing!
once i nest a cluster of clips....how do i identify or differentiate it from a normal clip ? Does it have some sort of tag icon it puts near the head or tail of the clip container ? I understand in a small project i can remember but when a project is a little complex one might like to have a visual indication differentiating a normal clip from a nest ?
great video, however you should check out "effect layer" and "master effect" fonctionnality which are way more usefull than nesting a sequence to apply and update effect to multiple clips at the same time
I have a timeline with an intro animation > a nested sequence > and outro animation. Is there a way to drag new footage into the nested sequence (with a shorter or longer duration than previous footage) and the nested sequence will automatically extend or shorten while keeping the outro animation snapped to the end of it?
would definitely like to see more videos on nesting somehow haha, also usage of audition cc, I barely touch my audio when editing, mostly because it's unfamiliar. I'd like to change that with some quality tutorials ;) haha
Hey there, you mentioned having a cinematic intro. If you have an intro that you tend to use every time you make a new video, would you use nesting to store that intro set of clips as a re-usable asset...if not, how do you take the elements of a cinematic intro and store it for quick access and re-use by multiple projects??? Thank you!
That would work! You can import a sequence from a Premiere Pro project into another project later on, I actually do it all the time to fetch selects from past projects :)
i hate that in premiere you have to nest clips just to apply multiple effects like speed-remapping and opacity re-mapping, and a ton of other effects. I was SO confused by this as a new user.
Hey Aidin, I was thinking of buying a MacBook Pro. How does your laptop perform on timeline with After Effects and Premiere Pro? I know windows works best but MacOS is something that I can’t let go. Addictive af :,) Please let me know. Thanks!
For the color grading in nested sequences... there is a better way of doing that! there is a master clip in lumetri color tabs also in effect controls. Every change u make there will effect all the clips, not only in ur timeline but also in other sequences. Therfor don't use nested sequences to color grade use master... its pretty cool...
Absolutely! I still use nested sequences for this a bit (ex. if I need to use an adjustment layer over the clip) but using the master clip has proven to be quicker most of the time :)
Noticed you add a Gaussian blurred layer of the shot over the original shot and lowered the opacity, how often do you do that? New colour correction and grading tutorial I reckon!
Hi All, I get empty sections (in black) when I export time remapped nested sequences. Anyone have a tip on how to avoid this? BTW I have Project settings set to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only.
But can I use nesting to work like "pre-compose" does in After Effects? My computer is slowing down to a crawl because I have so many effects on 4k footage. I'm using lowrez proxies so the effects don't have to load on full resolution media. But when I try to render things out, it takes forever to render my clips (possibly because it's trying to render the 4K footage instead of the lowrez proxy files, for a more "final" product) So it takes 20 minutes, to render a one minute section, then I make one small change to say, an adjustment layer placed above that nested clip, and then I have to re-render the entire one minute section, even if the clips have been nested and are rendered within the nested sequence, because that one change affected everything. If I could "precompose" a segment of clips by nesting them, shouldn't an adjustment layer be as quick to load as if I had just adjusted the color of a single layer?
Sorry if this is confusing. I'm editing a seven minute video and even with my proxy files, it's gotten so slow it takes several seconds for me to see a changes made to adjustment layers. RUclipsrs churn out 7 minute videos every week, so I must be missing something obvious about how to speed up the process, right? Is that why you color code *before* you start cutting up your clips? Because it's miserable if you try to do it after?
Super helpful... thanks a ton for sharing! Question: is the strong yellow/orange tint on you skin at the edge of the frame (especially the shadow sides of hands/arms) due to a vignette added in post? Love the color grade in general, but that skin tone shift at the edges is pretty wonky. Honestly asking from a place of ignorance. Thanks again!
Great way to use nest to edit your audio. When it comes to color grading I use an adjustment layer. Is it a different result what you do by nesting the clip to color grade inside or is it the same result through different methods?
For me, it's the same result in a more organized way. I use two adjustment layers to grade the talking head shots, so nesting the clip just keeps the main timeline clean
@Aidin - You could instead color grade your MASTER on the footage, in that way that footage will be graded the same way on all the different timelines. Protip. :)

I learned something new - making the color correction in a nested sequence, then chop! Wow that is such a time saver...
Finally someone made a video breaking down what Nesting is and what real life scenarios Nesting is be useful in 💯🙌🏽 Thank you. Needed this for my journey
About the colors, you could also use the master tab in the effects control section. :)
I use it all the time for adding a transition between 2 shots ... I cut out the last bit of the clip and the first bit of the next clip and nest them and add the transition!

@Ammar Ajjoub hoping you can make a tut about that
Don’t have premiere, still watching tho cause it’s Aidin aha :)
I recently found your channel and I just wanted to say I love your content
Excellent video. Clear and concise without irritating special effects and obnoxious music. Thank you for keeping it simple.
Appreciate it! Do love some irritating special effects though
Just came across your channel for the first time today and This was a huge help. Thanks!
It's cool to know little aspects of your workflow, it helps a lot Aidin thanks
straightforward and super helpful. need more tutorials like yours on youtube!
Thanks man!
Great tip. Love using nested clips and now have so many other uses.
wow was not expecting this! what a stud. now I really want to learn
Super helpful tips to save time!
thank you for the color grading trick!
Thanks for your tutorial. I learned to use nest for my hyperlapses as warp stab wasn’t accepted after I nested the sequence. Thanks a lot.
I never thought of using it for color grading! Very helpful tutorial man
⚡ Woah.. the audio nesting tip is genius 🤙
Very helpful video with a high density of information, awesome!!
That's super useful! Thank you!

Thanks for this video. Very informative.

Yoooo this is awesome!!! Never even knew about that, my editing process just got so much easier!
Nice job Aiden. I also enjoy working with nested sequences to make the edit portion smoother.
Oh man! I learned something super useful while watching Aidin get his skin tone to a nice Doritos color. Easy on that orange man :) Thanks for sharing!
I use nested sequences because it's the best way I know to animate and track subtitles.
This was helpful, thanks Aidin! Also, I was wondering if maybe one day you can make a video talking about your audio editing process in Audition?
The audio track tip was good thanks
bro great job, well done keep it up,
Instead of nesting long clips for adjusting before editing, you can just add adjustments to the master clip in the effects panel as well 👍
True, but I use two adjustment layers to grade the talking head shots
@@AidinRobbins Yeah, for stacking, that's perfect 👌

can you make a slower explanation to newbies?
I have a timeline with an intro animation > a nested sequence > and outro animation. Is there a way to drag new footage into the nested sequence (with a shorter or longer duration than previous footage) and the nested sequence will automatically extend or shorten while keeping the outro animation snapped to the end of it?
Ahhh 😭 this helped me so much thanks, also I love the way you edit your videos and how you present your content, it was super easy to understand
notification squad where you at?
You are really amazing!!!
🙌🙌
Great video ! How can you duplicate nested sequences without altering original ?
You can also select master when editing a clip and it effects all instances of that clip 😊
True, but what if you wanted to add multiple adjustment layers on it? That's what I prefer to nest it instead
Aidin Robbins yeah that’s a fair point actually. 😃
2:22 can’t you do that buy applying the adjustments on a adjustment layer and dragging it over your clips?
You could, but I use two adjustment layers to grade each clip so nesting everything keeps the main timeline clean
would definitely like to see more videos on nesting somehow haha, also usage of audition cc, I barely touch my audio when editing, mostly because it's unfamiliar. I'd like to change that with some quality tutorials ;) haha
how do you stop nested clips from going black during playback?
How do you create the same template for different images?
I tried to replace the different footages that were copied, but template 1 changed too :(
How do you do the small things like at 0:45 ?
Just keyframed solid layers haha
Thanks buddy
why wont it export my nested sequences in batch with the color correction? Do i need to use the master file to cc THEN send to nested?

whats the closest thing to nested sequence in hitfilm that isn't a comp shot

@@AidinRobbins I'm excited!
how to use dissolve effect in between two nested sequence in premiere pro
this is one of the last things ive been learning
Glad I could help out!
Thanks Aidin! If you’ve already gone and cut up your long video clip etc is it no longer possible to nest it for overall adjustments?
Nope, but you can apply effects to the master clip to affect everything. This video covers it: ruclips.net/video/KnWhWVarfqM/видео.html
@@AidinRobbins Thanks man

You forgot nesting a series of clips stacked upon each other to create a multi-cam sequence that’s easier to edit.
