Very helpful video... Interesting to see you challenge the conventional wisdom that it is easy to find a job. I expected to turn up in Sydney and have something within a few days, but I shall definitely be rethinking this strategy now. Due to fly on September 2nd though and I can't wait!

Tristan Voros I've tried applying for Vancouver for over 2 years and there system and regulations to get a visa to live or working visa is a joke . Your British citizen and you end up doing English test to see if you speck English really . And when I went over there's holiday I'm finding out there's 15% white ,10% black then 75% of Asian that don't speck clear of English. I don't mind that system what's the best candidate in there country but it has to make sense and stop chopping and changing for people wanted to live there.

In Australia you need to have ages of experience even for the most no brain job that you can possible imagine. Also, you need a certificate for everything! Sending resumes through Gumtree or seek won't get you anything. You have to call, you have to go in person, and always always talk with the manager or supervisor, if you hand over your resume to one of the staff they will put your resume in the rubbish as soon as you leave.

U cant complain, its stonishing how Mallorca (spain) is. not one job. crisis, no money, nothing. it may be one of the worst places to find job in Span, or even South Europe. I want to travel to Australia, to find some kind of fun travelling and job. I thnk it should be easier than in my 1Millon habitants island. Australia not even 30Million, 1000 times bigger.

Why did you not mention how cool living in the outback can be while working the many jobs on offer there? The wildlife, landscapes, being able to see billions of stars at night. They're the kind of memorable experiences you can have that are very different to the place you came from. I don't think Australian cities are that much different to other cities around the world, why be in such a hurry to stay there?

Just a warning for those potentially moving to Perth, Western Australia: there are only an abundance of jobs when a mining boon is underway. A mining boon happens once every 4 years and disappears for 2. In that time, expect to find little, or no mid/entry level jobs. I've been through about 4 of them now and I'll be honest: they hurt. I'm trying to escape Perth in fact, but Its tough. Cheers mates - a broke Aussie looking for work haha

The best advice as an Aussie, would to go to gumtree.com.au. There are loads of odd jobs, part time work advertised. I wouldn't want a full time job whilst travelling, but a days or three work every now and then could be really helpfull.

Lol, you are just one funny fella. Everything you say I think is right! My High school Classmate's younger brother was an Electrical Engineer with 3 years experience in Electrical Design and Installation here in the Philippines. When he migrated to Australia together with his Sister, my HS classmate, they settled in Perth. Three years later he is still jobless. Most of the time they prefer Aussies as their employees over immigrants. Though there are some companies hiring immigrants there but very few in numbers. Most of the time the job postings are taken within a day after posting. He is currently applying for back packing jobs but still, most of the time they prefer Aussies or any other Western immigrants to do their jobs. I feel everyone's' struggles, Aussies or immigrants. In this world of globalization getting a job is indeed a challenge.

Hey! I read one of your posts from a while back about a horrible fruit picking scam, and im just wondering if you have any tips to avoid being scammed while trying to get the 88 days farm work? And how do we know if the farm work is authentic?

I love what you said “it is all about who you know” ;-) The true is: yes, you may get a job & still don’t know anyone in the city, but the easiest way is to connect with others! If you don’t know anyone in Australia check out all blogs, vlogs …all social media!!!. There are plenty of people ready to talk ;-)
Good luck everyone & see you in Australia!
