  • ...This is what I do on my Coffee Breaks ~!
    This video is the sequal to my first Bo Sampler I finished back in Sept of 2010 :) (( • Extreme Bo Staff - Bo ... ))
    I still practice the extreme side of the Martial Arts geared towards showmanship, speed, pin point accuracy, and rock solid control (not so much self defense applications).
    Hope you enjoy & definatly let me know what you think! Thanks for watching :D

    Dude I love the fact that instead of screaming and freaking out you make it look like you could do this in your sleep. EPIC!!

    Everytime i look up advanced bo staff techniques i find this same thing and these same movements, i feel like i've already perfect and mastered these, because i can do them all fluently and quickly, and i never make a mistake unless im fooling around. Im looking for something very challenging.

    I recently took up fire staff dancing (isis8star) - spinning and contact - and I was looking for some inspiration and I found it. I taught myself how to move with the stick by just listening to music and guessing what could be done. I train for minimum 2 hrs a day but I had run out of ideas until I saw this video! Thanks for giving me new concepts for combinations plus the motivation to practise even harder :D I had no idea that what I was doing was a martial art! Subscribed!
    BTW what is the move from 0:50-0:53

    I can't wait until I can do that stuff. I've been in martial arts for about 6 and a half years now. Getting ready to get me 2nd degree black belt in May. Bow staff is my best and favorite weapon. Plan on competing. You're absolutely incredible bro

    • @MattHogan89
      @MattHogan89  9 лет назад

      Competing is the best way to push your skills to the next level - There's nothing like good old-fashion healthy competition. Training on occasion, when you feel like it, for fun will only get you so far. Knowing you're going to step into the ring and put it all on the line makes you train with a whole new level of intensity. Good luck with your pursuits, Hunter Weems - and thank you for the kind remarks!

      Marvin Le - Not necessarily. It all depends on the instructors' knowledge and what they're willing to teach - not necessarily the art.

    I'm a Tae Kwon-Do practitioner and have been studying and teaching it for the past 12 years... As far as tips go for spinning the bo, the best thing I ever did that got me any good was lock myself in a large, empty room, pull up tutorials and samplers and work it - over and over again - and not come out of the room until I got it...

  • @diegocasillas9748
    @diegocasillas9748 9 лет назад

    Dude your videos are really bad ass and inspiring. You should do some tutorials on tips for competition style form. I have been doing bo staff and chucks for 4 years now and i still feel like im slow, i can go faster but the weapon looks sloppy, any advice?

  • @filippebarros

    Yes, but in order to train something, i first need to understand the technique, which is my main issue, because even by looking and getting a perception of the movement, it is still not 100% clear of the full movement. But ill try it and train!

      I don't throw the bo in the air, spin it behind my back, and roll it on my neck for self-defense applications. I do it for sport, for precision, for accuracy, for control, for awareness, and for competitions. I do it so I can push myself to my limits and so that I many get into the ring and perform outside of my comfort zone. This is a bo 'tricks' sampler - not bo 'self-defense' sampler...
