- A top Ukrainian pilot was killed when a newly arrived F-16 crashed during a Russian missile attack on Ukraine. And NBC News spoke with a Ukrainian commander inside a Russian area now controlled by Ukraine. NBC News' Erin McLaughlin reports.

According to the telegram channel "Military Chronicle", among foreign experts a version has emerged that the downed F-16 fighter was actually hit by a Russian R-37 missile (also known as RVV-BD) and did not fall due to technical problems, a malfunction or was shot down by the Patriot air defense system, as previously reported.
According to this version, the missile strike could have been carried out from the territory of the Bryansk region from a Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter.
These hypotheses contrast with the official version of the incident, which suggests the possibility of a technical failure or a so-called "crossbow."
A version using the R-37 missile, which has a long range and high accuracy, offers a more complex scenario in which modern Russian military equipment was used, capable of shooting down enemy aircraft from a significant distance.
The Su-57, the intended carrier of this missile, is one of the most advanced aircraft in the Russian arsenal and is capable of using high-tech weapons, including long-range air-to-air missiles such as the R-37.

they said it was mass missile attack on Ukrainian positions including airbases, they're ground target missiles, I don't think one managed to hit the F16 while it was in the air. So the attack on the airbase while the F16 was either trying to scramble to take off or land on caused it to crash. If you have any information feel free to update.
The West don't want this news to go public that their Anti-Missile system hit their own supplied F-16. Bad for business and buyers.
