I worked for your dad one day in West Palm Beach Florida. He got off the bus walked straight up to the auditorium crew he greeted personally each one of us. I was the only female so he kissed my hand. After the show he stayed until everyone in line got on that bus and got an autograph picture. It was well after 2:00 am . I still can’t believe I got paid to hang out with Willie and the band all day until the wee hours of the morning. I would have done that one for free. Not one drop of alcohol nor any drugs allowed on tour.
My step dad got to work one of his shows too and said the same thing.

Lukas, I don't know if you remember going with your mom to a protest in Washington DC in 2006 chatting with a woman your mom's age, but I surely do. You were 17, about to go on tour with your dad for the first time and you were so excited. He was your best friend then too. And your long fingers danced on the guitar, to your dads voice from your tongue. Your dad is great and happy birthday. His kindness and wisdom spread throughout the world through you. Namaste, Lukas.

Back in the early 70's just after some time in the Army my wife Rosalie saw an ad for tickets to see Willie Nelson at the Wisconsin State Fair. That started a yearly thing for us and over the years we became bigtime Willie fans. I play a little guitar, so campfires and local jams gave me a chance to play a lot of his stuff. Still to this day at 73 I play many of his songs. I have read his books also and find them to be so much fun! Keep the music going Lukas. Burlington Bill busking on the road and on You Tube.

Even bringing home the down & out musicians, always playing Willy, Waylon & Merle. He’d even wake me on school nights to get up & come & sing with them. Oh how I miss you Papa & thank you for giving me a love for blue grass, Righteous Bros., Lefty Frizzil Percy Sledge, Bob Dylan, James Taylor etc. I gave him the knowledge of Rod Steward & he’d forgive & when I’d skip school to come home to practice reaching the octaves wit Barbara Streisand. My papa Dan is gone, after Waylon & Merle. I’ve been listening to Lucas a lot lately… missing the light of my Dad & all the life of the party when he came in. Oh how time slips away.
