- Lukas Nelson shares his perspective on the art of telling stories through songwriting.
Lukas Nelson has no more footsteps to follow other than his own. As with all creative artists, Nelson’s course has been somewhat unpredictable. Though born to country music royalty, he has followed a different muse. Or, more accurately, he has introduced a bunch of muses to each other and locked them into an imaginary room to spend some wild time together.

50 years ago my wife and I packed up a 1966 Mustang with all of our worldly possessions and traveled to Ft. Benning then to Ft. Polk where I was serving in the Army. On my you tube page you'll find the song I wrote about it. I started listening to Willie way back then . Love the way Lukas honors his Dad and yet has his own style. He mixes respect with self pride!

I think Lukas is an incredible talent himself ! Everyone wants to compare him with Willie , but he is is own man . You never hear Lukas on the radio but that's okay . We who like him know where to find him !

I can hear his father's voice but in Lukas' own original brand of music. I could listen to him all day long and never get tired of it.

To anyone under the age of 30 who is listening to this - LISTEN TO THIS MAN. He is a true inspiration to you and everything you should want to be when you get old. Life is not about what you have, it's about what you feel inside and how you use those feeling to make others feel good about themselves.
i was passing thru songs on youtube ,came across this video and thought this young man has some talent. wasnt till i read the comments i saw this is willies boy. hope he keeps on making the music his own.
He can exactly do that odd sense of timing his father has. I know of nobody else whom exactly replicates it
Lukas is amazing. He may be his father's son but he is his own musician when it comes to singing and his guitar playing. One talented musician.

I can hear and see that, his guitar styling , he has been taught by his father or at least by hearing his dad so much his playing comes through like his dad.

First time I heard him, didn't know he existed, was on a farm aid concert on tv. Just happen to come across it. He started singing and I'm like dude quit trying to sound like Willie lol. Then he sang the sound of your memory. It grabbed my heart instantly. I've never forgotten it !! Some time soon I figured out he had to be Willie's son lol. I love him. His song writing is amazing!!!

Yeah, his voice with just an acoustic guitar is so strong and powerful. Hits all the notes with that gorgeous vibrato- then there is his fine guitar playing.

Hearing him talk about his songs and what inspired him to write them makes me like him even more. I already really liked him but now I can see he’s the real deal.

During Willie's birthday concert I was happy to see his music was portrayed knowing there's a whole generation who most likely didn't know he'd written.
I could fall in love with a man like this, a hint of dad, a love of Rumi, intelligent, open minded, loving the blues and Clapton, and entirely his own man. He reminds me a little of a southern John Denver. Lukas is incredible, I'm glad I stumbled on this!

I hope you could, and you say that, but only if you can accept that man’s constant absence due to practice & tour schedules, and first devotion to something other than you. It works for gals who are cool with coming 2nd, or at best tieing for 1st. But so many gals who fall for musicians for their talents & emotional depth are for some reason clueless about what that really means, or how much time it requires away from the relationship. He alludes to that here. It kinda bothers me that so many women get upset when confronted by this, as if the abilities that are a big thing they love about him, somehow didn’t demand his all and have to come first, in order to be maintained. It can work, but only for a healthily independent gal who’s good being mostly solo.

I respect the fact the he is truly an eclectic lover of music. His music has elements of all musical genres. That gives him a unique and refreshing sound that is all his own.
Such a huge fan of this talented young man. Was blessed enough to see him live at The Staple Center in LA last year. Within 2 songs and with just a guitar, he had the whole place on their feet. Amazing.

Saw Lukas open for his dad in Eugene Oregon in 2007, another opportunity to enjoy a concert at Britt Festival in Jacksonville Oregon and last week in Bend Oregon. Seeing Lukas Nelson grow as he developed his own style, all this old rocker can say is thank you!

Wow~!!!~ When he first starts out, His voice is a definite blues which is so Strong !!! Then we have Lukas singing "Crazy" which the tones resemble his Dad's for sure 🌹 His voice is so Pure and Clear on "Running Moonshine" Then we have What if we had to start over" Tis is a Gorgeous song with so much meaning..You have to really appreciate what Lukas stresses across to all of us watching this Amazing video..So much inside feelings looking on the outside in 💞🎶🌹 You Are Amazing Lukas Nelson ~!!!!~
