    "...a brother I love Elvis Presley..." The Godfather of Soul, paying tribute to The King. I love the respect, and thanks to genuine honesty of legends such as JB & countless others speaking up for Elvis, we know the truth of his character and goodness. God bless them all ♥️

    Several people who were close to Elvis said that after Elvis died when they had the private visitation at Graceland for Elvis' funeral, James Brown sat in the room with Elvis in the casket for hours crying over losing his friend. They were much closer friends than most people know or understand.

      James Brown is my favorite artist of all time but Elvis is not the king of rock ‘n’ roll. That’s either Chuck Berry or Little Richard.

      @@theapavlou3030 of course I know James Brown is the godfather of Soul. You’re not gonna tell me anything about James Brown he’s been my favorite entertainer since I was 12 years old in 1968, I have every record he ever made I saw him in concert about 100 times over 30 years and I met him a few times. and if Chuck Berry is called the father is rock ‘n’ roll that means he’s the king of rock ‘n’ roll. Elvis did not invent anything Elvis followed the blueprint he followed it and he got more publicity because he was white but he did not invent anything.

      James & Elvis were friends and respected each other. Good day to you

    Both raised in extreme poverty, fighting every obstacle at the time, reaching the top of their profession. Brown was totally devastated by Elvis’ death, and had to be, practically, hauled away from Elvis’ coffin. Brown sat there, talking to Elvis, for hours. Brown’s manager said that Elvis’ death, shook James Brown to the core. Totally heart-wrenching, but it just shows how Elvis affected people from every walk of life

    When I hear these guys like JB, Elvis, and all those pre-80s artists, I wonder how anyone can stand modern pop with all of the over-processed audio making everyone sound the same. There is so little feeling these days. I wasn't even alive for this stuff and I think it is sooooo much better. Love to both artists and thanks for sharing the reaction

    This was a great reaction I love the way you really get into it. James Brown has been my favorite artist since I was 12 years old in 1968. I have everything he ever recorded I saw him in concert about 100 times over 30 years, I met him a few times. I do disagree though about Elvis being the king of rock ‘n’ roll. He was a young talented white guy that took what was already going on and obviously got more popular with it because at the time there was a lot of racism. Elvis himself even deeply respects the black performers that came before him. I mean most rock ‘n’ roll historians would say that Chuck Berry or a little Richard or both are the kings of rock ‘n’ roll. There would be no Elvis without them. and that’s true because like I said at the time black artist were not getting played on mainstream radio and Elvis got people curious to go back and look for the originals. And I’m not taking any thing away from Elvis he was a great talent, but like I said I don’t consider him the king of rock ‘n’ roll he’s someone that came after it started.

    • @theapavlou3030
      @theapavlou3030 2 дня назад +1

      @PaulDA2000 Elvis had his own talent, he brought that to the table. Everyone always tries to underplay what Elvis had because he was white. Elvis rocked them all and crossed the genres. Credit where it's due, without Elvis the door would have been kept closed on these black artists. Sad but true. I thank him for that and thank these legends who took his hand and climbed up with him

    • @PaulDA2000
      @PaulDA2000 2 дня назад

      @@theapavlou3030 nobody is trying to underplay what Elvis did. But because he was white was a big part of his success at that time because black artists were not allowed to be played on the major radio stations. I’m simply saying he’s not the king of rock ‘n’ roll because it was either Chuck Berry or Little Richard and it’s probably little Richard.

    • @theapavlou3030
      @theapavlou3030 2 дня назад +1

      @PaulDA2000 I'm not disagreeing just don't like the hatred that Elvis got from White Middle classes and from some Black people claiming he stole anything. Ultimately Elvis saw the struggle, he lived it side by side with his neighbours and his peers. He was lucky because he was white, externally, but there is no denying that beneath his skin colour, Elvis was Black through and through. He had the rhythm, soul and style of Black society. Little Richard even said Elvis boosted his own career. He was King because, in the US, it took a white man to break those artists through to the mainstream. And we're all better off for it.

    • @PaulDA2000
      @PaulDA2000 2 дня назад +1

      @@theapavlou3030 of course Elvis was a great singer and entertainer. That was the way the times were back in the white good looking singer would get all the AirPlay on the radio stations all the best bookings. And yes Elvis loved and respected all the black artists. The other side of the coin is by him being so successful it brought attention to the original artists that started this and they started getting eventually AirPlay on the mostly all white radio stations and became more popular so it basically was like the expression one hand washes the other. And I’m not saying James Brown didn’t know Elvis because he was one of the few famous people that was at his wake. That’s the documented. There are conflicting reports though if they knew each other. Some people say they witnessed them in the hotel room singing gospel others from Elvis’s group say he didn’t like James Brown and they never met. I don’t believe either one completely but I think it’s rather odd that there are no pictures or videos of them together. If they were together singing gospel quite a bit or something like that somebody would’ve took a picture that’s just the way I look at it I try to look at things evenly I don’t just believe what I hear. I do know that a lot of people have been witness to. Elvis and James Brown were at the same restaurant or something one time and Elvis sent a note over to James Brown saying can he come over to our table and James Brown said if he wants to meet me he needs to come and come over to my table. So when that guy back to Elvis they said he just laughed and got up and went to James Brown’s table. I don’t even know if that’s true.

    • @theapavlou3030
      @theapavlou3030 2 дня назад +1

      @@PaulDA2000tbh I don't know what documentation you need. I'm taking James's word from his mouth as truth? What else is there to see? He says he knew him, he was like his brother. I didn't see a photo of him sitting by Elvis's coffin either but he was seen there with Ann Margaret. No reason JB would lie. He didn't need an association with Elvis, he didn't need Elvis's celebrity status for any reason. His word is good enough for me.
      Do you also need to see a photo of Dionne Warwick speaking to Elvis or of Barbra Streisand. Sorry, I don't get your angle at all. I personally haven't read every book, but I'm starting to gather a few so I can see who said what and who was actually there. I don't believe we need an eye witness if JB said he was there, then he was.
