No one will see this but heres how I wouldve done it if keeping charlie dead was forced. You can keep walden and keep the house but have the season be about Alan letting go of the house, which could be done in with the fact that Walden felt so indebted to Alan saving his life he truly helps get him back on his feet. Helps Alan design a new website for his business, helps drum up some advertising, and gets him a better building with more traffic. I know Alan wouldnt want to take it, but Walden would insist and say when im done youll be able to pay me pack within a few years. Along with this its just a season arc of Jake in the military and getting his act together and realizing how much of a Tool he is. Then at the end of the season its maybe a year or two timeskip and Alan can finally afford a place of his own, he thanks Walden for all he has done for him and Walden says he can come by any time. Then he walks into his and Charlie's room one more time and says thanks for all you did for me. Then shows his new apartment and then maybe end it on one final punchline, I dont know what of but something.
Finally someone who gave Ashton a chance, they tried what they could. I mean people really speak up for Charlie, but if it was any of them on that set, waiting for Charlie for ten hours and then getting drunkenly yelled at and bottles thrown after you, you’d sing a different song.
I agree wholeheartedly with this review. Walden is the male version of Rey from star wars. No problems, everyone likes him, and seems to just be perfect. A true Gary Stu.
When charlie left, I saw just one episode with Ashton and the I stopped watching Two and Half Men out of bitterness. Years after I saw some reruns of Ashton Kutcher's Two and half Men, and I found myself enjoying them and laughing. I agree that it got stale by the end, but I appreciate some of those episodes and I found that John Cryer improved his performance with Ashton. I think it could've worked better if the writers played on the strong parts of the show and the characters
The show could have worked if Chuck hadn't been so petty. He turned the whole show into "I hate Charlie" the show. If Ashton had played someone related to them who decided to buy the house and allowed Alan to live there and simply say that Charlie stayed in France, the show would have been alright.
I actually liked season 9 and 12, when Walden first appeared on the show and they seemed to have planned what to do with him. Season 10 and 11 were like they didn't know what to do with him so they kept trying to put in new characters but sadly nothing worked out fine. However in season 12, they encountered the idea of having a kid for Walden, to me that's a pleasure to watch the progress but that didn't seem to be able to last for any longe
I wouldn't blame him but the show wasn't the same after Charlie. Why not just end the show and start a new one? They could even stealth pilot it and change the name or something.
The part that I couldn’t get behind was the show trying to convince the audience that this new guy was amazing, better than Charlie, the perfect man. Which he didn’t need to be to be a compelling character. And they didn’t need to tell us that, they just need to show us instead. It’s like they didn’t trust us to connect with him and because of this we didn’t. Kind of like Randy on That 70s show. Also interesting that the cast and crew kept saying that it was a “different show” but no one ever said anything necessarily positive about this change.
"Enough with this Schimidt." So much for the whole "If you want me to cover Anger Management as a series, that'll be the last time I talk about it!" I mean I'm glad, but still...
I genuinely believe if the show would've been good with Ashton if it was a completely separate show on its own rather than it being a continuation off of Two and a half Men
I like Vee’s videos on the show far better than the show. It’s one of those shows that I only watched because certain friends did. I just never found it that entertaining.
I can’t say I agree, but I grew up with the show so I have a huge emotional attachment to it (I was born in 2003 and my dad has watched it since season 1). I do like the later seasons though, don’t get me wrong! There’s just something about Charlie I really like, that womanizing asshole
This show is the living embodiment of my five years and out rule. I leave every long running show after five years regardless of storyline. That's when the slow decline starts like Big Bang Theory. Sometimes it's a precipitous decline like NYPD Blue.
@@thisisnotachannel supernatural s1-5 was peak entertainment for me. s6-10 is ok imo. Some shitty episodes but also some really good episodes. Overall no bad seasons, but s11-15 is one of the worst pieces of television i've ever seen. It's so bad, it really breaks my heart lmao😂😂
What if they would've made Walden, instead of what they did, made him a kid who grew up in foster homes, with a mysterious benefactor backing his schooling through "donations" and through the episodes he had subtle mannerisms like Charlie and Alan and when angry act like their mom, even had some "Jake" moments and can get along with everyone like he always belonged meaning visual resentment, but all in all having love for one another burying deep deep down, Alan teases him about being their brother another mother just to find by the end of the series to find he was him and Charlie's brother, one of her love children "abortions" with a famous person who could've been some famous actor, meaning she cheated on the dad or maybe they had a swinging phase in 70s and there maybe more for all she know, because back in the day and now momma got around. Surprised they didn't have that 70s show actors cameo as Walden's rivals or family, I would've played that up. I never understood why he would move into a house and take care of someone's else leech brother and son, without any issue, that's why they should've made him a distant cousin or brother, or hell one of the mom's ex husband's kids or something. I wish they would've gotten more creative with things it would've lasted longer, scary thing is if they would've did something different and cool like the original premises of the show it would still be on or they would've had two good seasons. Gotta blame Chuck Lorre for that I bet now he would've done it all differently, now if he could go back, maybe him and Charlie could've worked things out or just made a more compelling introduction and presentation, as well as real character development of Charlie's replacement character after Charlie's departure. But I digress
That not a bad idea but with adding Jenny Charlie daughter later in the game seems a bit down played it seems like why not merge both concept by having Walden being Charlie son could of easier
I get the show wasn’t the same when Charlie left, but I’ve always liked Walden, I was especially invested with his love life, plus he was a good guy and I guess that was refreshing, he had great chemistry with Jon and the goodness with Walden contracted great with Alan being a creep Idk I was never pressed about it, it is just a comedy sitcom after all
I vaguely remember actually liking the Kutcher years, though they definitely didn't hold a candle to what came before. Speaking of which, I've recently rewatched the Sheen years on HBO Max, and yeah, that's a show that I want to see looked at through modern lenses, so enough with the Schmidt.
I really dig your mini-series on this show. I used to fall asleep listening to my Dad watch it when I was a kid, and I've lived through a lot of scenarios in the show as well. It's still one of my favorites and I watch it often - it's honestly sad to see the downfall around season 8. I hope one day they do decide to make The Harpers lol.
that would have sucked too. ashton kutcher sucks and he ruined the show. or if you want to be generous chuck lore ruined the show by hiring him. it would have been better if it was just jake and alan
I say Charlie and Chuck Lorre killed the show. Charlie Sheen couldn’t get it together, and Chuck Lorre was directing and writing the show like a vindictive teenager.
As one of a select few people that still clings to cable, even with paying for multiple streaming services 😂 I catch 2 and Half Men on IFC and TV Land quite often, and regardless of it's the Charlie era or Walden era, i enjoy the show. Yes the last season was weak and finale was an overall letdown, but both still make me laugh. Maybe i just miss low brow comedy like this..
Ashton Kutcher ruined the show it SHOULD'VE ended when Charlie Sheen got fired, the Ashton Kutcher version should've been a different show. I wouldn't be surprised if bts it was at one point originally going to be it's own show.
Maybe do a video on why Charlie Sheens era was good? Also after binge watching this show they reused so many actors and actresses and cast them as different characters later in the series. For example Charlie's girlfriend Chelsea was seen as early as season 1, and waldens ex wife also played Herbs sister earlier in the series.
i kinda wish we lived in an alternate universe where Charlie was never fired cause i wonder if some plots would still happen like Jake going to the army or Lyndsey dating that Larry guy with Alan pretending to be Jeff Strongman to hang out with Larry i'm not sure if those plots would happen if Charlie stayed but i think it's kinda fun to think about
And here comes the problem, Walden could easily fix Alans life with money he DOES NOT care about. But he doesnt, makes him a rich asshole "oh i dont want people using me for money" yet his whole ass personality is being rich
If you don't wanna say it I'll say it loll Ashton Kutcher RUINED what was my favorite TV show, should've just ended it instead because I've had ENOUGH WITH THIS SCHMIDT 😤
Honestly my biggest issue was the first few episodes he was in was "omg everyone loves him and wants to bang him even the straight men" far as I could tell he continued border as it went on. Didn't bother watching most of his run time because it just want fun he'll the entire thing felt like a poorly written self insert fan fiction.
That’s exactly what Charlie Sheen was doing. Lorre was just writing shit that mirrored Sheen’s life, yet toned down for Primetime. Sheen just got worse as he made more money.
The problem to me wasn't Walden. The problem to me was that by the time Walden showed up the show was already stretching into zombie territory. Also, goddamnSchmidt we need a video on the Downfall of Jake Harper.
I am also one of those people, it isn't that good of a show even with Charlie sheen, every two seconds there is an alcoholic joke, Jake being so stupid and insufferable, a stupid one liner from Charlie and then a joke about sex
A bold move to make such a drastic change. Surprised CBS didn't just end the show. They had eight seasons and enough episodes for syndication. But it shows the network wanted the show to continue some more. Surprised the series lasted four more years too, you'd think after that first season it would have tanked. The introduction of Walden gave the show something touching and refreshing. Just sucks how they ended it with Charlie being alive the whole time and kept in a basement well by Rose. That was such a lame plot twist. I wish they did continue the show some more so we got to see Louis grow and develop more since he only comes in in the final season. We should have seen him in Season 11 as opposed to Jenny who was shoe-horned into the show as this long lost child of Charlie's which did not sit well with me.
I think Ashton did a good job, and he is not to blame for it's downfall, but it just wasn't the same without Charlie Sheen. I personally think they should have just ended the show when Sheen left and not dragged it out.
I remember really liking the first Ashton Kutcher episode. To this day it might be one of my favorite episodes overall. I didn’t see much of the show after he was introduced though.
To be honest, I found Seasons 7 & 8 rather dull and forgettable. I rather enjoyed Walden in Season 9 and thought Ashton did a good job. Season 10 was just okay. I really enjoyed the character of Jenny from Season 11.
They were saying not showing with the character of Walden and thats a recipe for disaster in any show. The show was built on a house of cards, namely Sheens prime charisma. The show achieved way more than it probably should have and should be commended for that.
I have to agree that Charlie sheen was the glue to the show ,and nobody could replace ,but when ashton Kutcher signed on to do the show I was more than happy ,because his success on that 70's show ,for me ashton Kutcher is more like the younger brother of Charlie and Alan than he is as their friend why didn't they cast him as the younger brother better yet a side character
Honestly it's the gay jokes and also it got too stale. Aston wasn't the problem just having Charlie sheen was funny cause such a person doesn't exist but was relatble. Ashton the character isn't relatble and was clearly created to diss Charlie Sheen.
Jake growing up also kinda killed the show. After season 7, his arcs were terrible mostly. It became 2 men and a moron. And after season9 it was just 2 men.
Speaking of Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie, how about Randy replacing Eric and Kelso on "That 70s show"? It's worse because Randy is more out of place, at least Walden did somewhat makes sense after Charlie died. Who even likes Randy on That 70s show?
@Siboniso Buthelezi Oh right, it's been a while since I've seen the show. She was an unnecessary character, the show should've been cancelled as soon as Charlie Sheen was fired.

The only person who could have replaced charlie would be Robert Downey Jr.
He killed it the moment his character gave Charlie's piano away for charity.
Charlie slept his way to that piano and earned it!
People don’t give Jon Cryer enough credit for keeping things going after Charlie left
He really did. He might not have gotten a diamond out of that turd, but he did a fantastic job with the crappy situation he was left with
I don't care with anyone says.... Charlie Sheen MADE 2 and a half men
He was both men. And Jake/Alan made up a half man
When charlie left, I saw just one episode with Ashton and the I stopped watching Two and Half Men out of bitterness.
Yes season 9 was nice and have fun episodes. I realy didnt wach 10 and 11 because i see new Characters. It was tomuch fot the show.
I wouldn't blame him but the show wasn't the same after Charlie. Why not just end the show and start a new one? They could even stealth pilot it and change the name or something.
What i hated the most was that tweaked too much on Allen's character as well
I needed something to watch today while eating school food, thanks Vee!
the writers needed to grow up.
their hatred for charlie sheen overshadowed their love for charlie harper, and it showed.
"Enough with this Schimidt."
So much for the whole "If you want me to cover Anger Management as a series, that'll be the last time I talk about it!" I mean I'm glad, but still...
I actually liked the character of Walden. And I agree with your assessment. Walden didn't kill the show, it prolonged it's life.
He wasn't funny at all.
I genuinely believe if the show would've been good with Ashton if it was a completely separate show on its own rather than it being a continuation off of Two and a half Men
I kept waiting for Ashton to look at the TV a few seasons in and suddenly people run into the room I'm in and they yell YOU JUST GOT PUNKED!
I actually liked it more when Ashton joined. Then again, I never really liked it beforehand
Supernatural stayed good past season 5... But that is just the exception that proves the rule.
@Fries Modern...Supernatural, Smallville and Law & Order:SVU. Classic - Hawaii Five-O, M*A*S*H and Bonanza.
Enough with this Schmidt
That not a bad idea but with adding Jenny Charlie daughter later in the game seems a bit down played it seems like why not merge both concept by having Walden being Charlie son could of easier
Ashton Kutcher didn’t kill two and a half me. Chuck Lorre did.
I get the show wasn’t the same when Charlie left, but I’ve always liked Walden, I was especially invested with his love life, plus he was a good guy and I guess that was refreshing, he had great chemistry with Jon and the goodness with Walden contracted great with Alan being a creep
Idk I was never pressed about it, it is just a comedy sitcom after all
I just rewatched your other two and a half men videos yesterday. Great timing
Do you mean two and a half men is on HBO MAX?
It is on Latin America HBO Max.
For me it was Alan ..
I know his whole character trait is that he’s kind of miserably greedy but even looking at repeats he annoys me a lot …
They turned him gay this season. Thats ummm.... something...
Yeah, Allen’s character got slimier and less human.
I think Charlie was harsh on Ashton too , I mean he himself replaced MJF in spin city- he should’ve been more supportive
That’s a pretty good point.
how terrible hope they find justice for those almost 3 men and get Ashdom in a stinky little jail cell where he belongs
I have to say, mate, you did a fine job with this video. Bravo.
The problem wasn't that they replaced Charlie with Walden. It's that the didn't replace Alan with Walden.
that would have sucked too. ashton kutcher sucks and he ruined the show. or if you want to be generous chuck lore ruined the show by hiring him. it would have been better if it was just jake and alan
I say Charlie and Chuck Lorre killed the show. Charlie Sheen couldn’t get it together, and Chuck Lorre was directing and writing the show like a vindictive teenager.
Would love to see a video on Everybody Hates Chris. Our Idiot Brother is a great movie btw.
The last four seasons of TAAHM had some funny episodes, but it was a true classic when Charlie was on the show.
Tbf... yeah he did. He was no Michael Kelso, let alone Charlie Sheen. His character was filler only.
No. Not having Charlie Sheen did that. I totally understand why they let him go, but the show was just not the same without him.
Enough About Schmidt.
Big fan of Vee Infuso. Dope Kevin Conroy cameo.
As one of a select few people that still clings to cable, even with paying for multiple streaming services 😂
I catch 2 and Half Men on IFC and TV Land quite often, and regardless of it's the Charlie era or Walden era, i enjoy the show. Yes the last season was weak and finale was an overall letdown, but both still make me laugh. Maybe i just miss low brow comedy like this..
Here's the other person clinging to cable even with streaming services 😂
And I wholeheartedly agree, I laugh at both, comfort TV
Nice, just in time for my lunch-break.
Hey Vee, what is your favorite Batman logo design? Mine is the design from Flashpoint. Thomas Wayne as Batman
i kinda wish we lived in an alternate universe where Charlie was never fired cause i wonder if some plots would still happen like Jake going to the army or Lyndsey dating that Larry guy with Alan pretending to be Jeff Strongman to hang out with Larry i'm not sure if those plots would happen if Charlie stayed but i think it's kinda fun to think about
Very thorough in the truth behind why 2 and half men really ended. F for respect
Thank you Vee. I had been waiting 👉👈
Is it just me, or while Alan was a little pathetic in the old seasons, he just became waaaaay worse in the Ashton seasons.
And here comes the problem, Walden could easily fix Alans life with money he DOES NOT care about.
But he doesnt, makes him a rich asshole "oh i dont want people using me for money" yet his whole ass personality is being rich
If you don't wanna say it I'll say it loll
Ashton Kutcher RUINED what was my favorite TV show, should've just ended it instead because I've had ENOUGH WITH THIS SCHMIDT 😤
Walden is kind of childish, but he is not childish the way that Michael Kelso is, he is childish the way that Eric Foreman is.
The problem to me wasn't Walden.
The problem to me was that by the time Walden showed up the show was already stretching into zombie territory.
Also, goddamnSchmidt we need a video on the Downfall of Jake Harper.
I’m one of the very few people that didn’t care for Charlie’s 2 and 1/2 men. But I get that Walden was a flawed character
I am also one of those people, it isn't that good of a show even with Charlie sheen, every two seconds there is an alcoholic joke, Jake being so stupid and insufferable, a stupid one liner from Charlie and then a joke about sex
Vee your videos are dope
*gasp* YES another two and a half men episode!!!!!!
Love 2 and a half Men vids, and Ashton probably didn't kill it, the way they wrote him definitely did tho
The show achieved way more than it probably should have and should be commended for that.
idc if you continue talking about shows like this.
cause your videos on it are really good
Also, Lori and Charlie's feud killed the show, especially with how it was integrated into the show.
Ashton didn't run it. Charlie did enough coke to kill 2 and a half men
Damn sure ain’t helped either
Enough with this Schmidt.
CHARLIE IS KING BABY!
If Walden Schmidt was a character on his own sitcom, he would have killed it
Honestly it's the gay jokes and also it got too stale. Aston wasn't the problem just having Charlie sheen was funny cause such a person doesn't exist but was relatble. Ashton the character isn't relatble and was clearly created to diss Charlie Sheen.
The ark with Spencer from king of queens should have turned into the direction of the show. Those two guys were so funny together
Every show where the main character gets fired or replaced it dies instantly
Jake growing up also kinda killed the show. After season 7, his arcs were terrible mostly. It became 2 men and a moron. And after season9 it was just 2 men.
Speaking of Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie, how about Randy replacing Eric and Kelso on "That 70s show"? It's worse because Randy is more out of place, at least Walden did somewhat makes sense after Charlie died.
Who even likes Randy on That 70s show?
Early squad!
Now Jenny was a bad character.
What do you mean?
@Siboniso Buthelezi Oh right, it's been a while since I've seen the show. She was an unnecessary character, the show should've been cancelled as soon as Charlie Sheen was fired.
For the record, I legit loved the interactions between Walden and Alan. Cryer especially seemed like he mastered his role the best. I agree with your video. I dont hate Walden, i just miss Charlie.
It didn't sound right
You heard it too huh?
Are you sure you're playing it right?
Yes I'm sure
Well it doesn't sound anything like the Queen version
...... No. It certainly doesn't
No, for me it's Alan Harper becoming more important, that ruined the show
