Looking at all the Fey artifacts in Dr. Buff's study, this was the point where I realized: Apollo and Trucy have never met Maya! Given that they're main characters, it's easy to forget that, but Maya's been in Khura'in since before Apollo & Trucy first met Phoenix, so they've never had any chances to interact
Which is a crazy oversight, considering Maya would be The Most Involved Auntie Ever and i truly believe it's something missed by writers-
I think it's implied that Trucy has met Maya. In fact we KNOW she has met Pearl multiple times. It's probably that she has never been involved in all the Kurain mumbo jumbo.
Trucy has been with Phoenix around 9 years by this games timeline. Maya’s only been in Khura’in for 2 years (started at the same time as the events of AA:AJ). So it’s plausible Maya and Trucy have met while not having been to Kurain at all.
@@blazingamer2706
Maya and Trucy has 100% met there is no way they haven't.
@@blazingamer2706 Oh yeah... For some reason I thought Maya had been in Khura'in since the end of the 3rd game, despite the fact that Chapter 3 of this game stated that she's only been there for 2 years. My bad!
23:35 That's the scroll of Misty Fey! The one that first appeared in TAT, Bridge to the Turnabout!
I love that there's still gravy on it from when Pearl misread Morgan's instructions to "gravely roast the master"
Sorry to everyone that heard the sound of my heart breaking when Lucah didn’t remember pearl smearing gravy on it
I will still never get tired of you putting your face on top of everyone at the end cards 😂
Trucy: and he's Nahyutas father too!!
Ema, without missing a beat: I'm so sorry,
I can't believe this game is real
I can just imagine what parent-teacher day must have been like for Dhurke.
Teacher: "Your adopted son keeps shouting the answers out instead of calmly raising his hand, and your biological son has condemned over half the class, AND ME, to Hell simply for correcting him."
Dhurke: "Ah-hah-hah! Yeah, they're little scamps, alright! Gotta love 'em!"
25:28 I love that Apollo and Dhurke get their own version of the ladder and stepladder debate with bird and plane. A pivotal way for Ace Attorney characters to bond.
How about that! I never put that together the first time! Love it.
Wow. I just realized that Apollo has technically had four dads but was raised by none of them. Jove died when he was just a baby; Dhurke was the closest thing to a paternal figure he had, only to be sent back to America when he was just 7; then there's Zak Gramarye, his stepfather, who didn't even know Apollo existed/was alive; and finally, there's Phoenix, his adoptive stepfather, but Apollo was already an adult by the time they met and doesn't even know the truth yet! No wonder his catchphrase is shouting that he's fine.
I do not think that either Zak or Phoenix took him in.
Well yes, but legally speaking, the former was his stepfather and Phoenix could also be through his status as Trucy’s adoptive father
@@davidgeorge1943 I do not think that adopting one means automatically adopting the other.
23:31 This is also a reference to a past game; In Trials & Tribulations, Pearl splattered gravy on that scroll, after misreading instructions given to her from her mother.
Don’t forget to show your badge to everyone, and check their profiles often.
“Gravely roast” = “Gravy roast”
But it also makes no sense for there to be gravy on the scroll, as the final scene before the end credits of the game was Pearl cleaning off the gravy and the art on the scroll being visible.
@@franklin5ify That’s why it’s a reference. Since the original scroll got cleaned, this one is merely a replica of Misty’s that got gravy on it. …Or the writers/background artists forgot the ending to Trials & Tribulations and left Misty’s scroll covered in gravy.
@@JJ_RPerhaps in universe, this researcher accidentally spilled something on the replica.
Realistically, a pre-teen girl who knows nothing about art restoration wouldn't be able to safely clean the gravy off... but I think JJ_R is right in that this is a silly replica, or for some reason someone thought the gravy was an authentic element of the scroll.
It's good that you took a break to give your voice a rest. Breaks are important.
Agreed.
11:43 "Alright, let's see who's fingerprints are on this luggage! We have....three TSA agents and roughly eight different baggage handlers. So many suspects for this case!"
No need to apologize for missing a day for your voice. Better to stay healthy and miss some time than to stay sick.
Don’t forget to show your badge to everyone, and check their profiles often.
Exactly, we like healthy Lucah
Remember that storage room for the black market auction in Ace Attorney Investigations 2 with all the past-case callbacks? Well, now we've got some callbacks to Kurain-related adventures in Dr. Buff's study, with the statue of Ami Fey, the Sacred Urn, and the hanging scroll from Hazakura Temple (still bearing the remains of the gravy lobbed at it, lol).
But yeah, Paul Atishon. He's a real...character, to put it nicely. He's practically every negative stereotype of politicians rolled up into one bundle of smarm and ego.
I think that description fits more for that one character from Somnium Files
If the game had been more recent, you can bet his slogan would had been “Make Kurain Village Great Again”
@@arturoaguilar6002 Game was out in the west in September 2016, so it was awfully relevant.
The gravy on the scroll is a call back to the third game where Pearl mistakes Morgan Fey's "gravely" for "gravy" and splatters a scroll of Misty Fey with gravy.
Dhurke is voiced by Jamison Price, the announcer of Mortal Kombat, so deep voice it is. He's also the voice of Virion from Fire Emblem Awakening, so who knows.
Good luck with the voice.
Also Sojiro in Persona 5
And Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors.
And Father Nier from the Western PS3 version
I'm so sorry to hear about your situations! First you might be sick which could be hard on your voice, and now Calgary has a water shortage. We have your back Auntie Lucah! We Stan You!
Now you leave my boy Arahabaki alone, he reflects physical attacks but he does it in the name of chaos and Lord Lucifer!
Technically, Ami's urn has been broken at least three times; once by Mia and Maya as kids, once by Pearl with her ball, and once by Adrian Andrews when she slipped while carrying it.
But yeah, Ami's spirit is totally still in there. :p
She's in there in spirit.
Lmaooo
Ok, the origin of that title made me very curious for a moment until I remembered THAT minigame with the fingerprint powder!^^ It wasn't that much fun in the 2nd case and I consider it even worse here
It's incredible how they messed it up in this case.
@@alonkatz4633 Am I really the only one that solved it fast enough?.
@@toumabyakuya You're lucky, I had to use a guide for this.
@@alonkatz4633 Eh, I wouldn't say so, I just thought it was obvious where to search (more so with something from latter in the case).
I love how Paul Atishon is just vague enough that it doesn't necessarily call out any specific politician but lets us fill in the blanks with who to compare him to. He's that successfully unlikeable.
Also, like any corrupt smug politician, he's probably hiding skeletons in his closet, isn't he?
he's basically EVERY smug, arrogant, two-faced politician who's only in it for themselves
15:20 screaming at my tv to rotate the evidence
2:50 I love that reference, though my first thought when seeing that statue is Animal Crossing, cause it's one of the pieces of art you can get from Crazy Redd. It's also what the Pokémon Baltoy and Claydol are based off of!
It's in so many games!
There's also a character in Capcom's own Darkstalkers series that looks pretty much exactly like that, called Huitzil. The appearance is based off ancient Japanese dogu figurines.
Being back in Kurain is a great nostalgia trip even if you mostly explore the archeologist’s home and not much of the village itself. Having Dhurke here is awesome and he seems a lot different than Kurai’in makes him out to be.
Oh no, the dreaded suitcase episode.
25:30 No, it's Superman!
Ah, good ol' Paul Atishion (Politician for those who can't get the pun). He's definitely a character for sure. Funny enough, he captures the sense and feel of pretty much 99% of politicians these days in America, so good on this game for being so accurate on them.
Next time, we get introduced, hopefully, to one of my favorite characters in this game.
24:21 Oh boy, it's a Doctor Who referece lumped into a terracotta warrior from Dragons Quest.
Hoo boy, Paul Atishon. Playing this game when it came out in 2016 and seeing that man sure was something...
Why can’t we blow
>Lucahjin 2024
Ahh, you caught on to the pun in Paul's name right away! Took me forever to spot that one. Good luck with that dude, boy I tell ya.
I will forever remember paul at-i-shawn
9:12 No, unfortunately, that is not the hideous suitcase from Investigations.
Oh that’s not just a ladder, that is a LADDER. Snake Eater would be proud.
The "Persona thing" is a representation of the God Arahabaki, which is a Japanese god that we don't actually know all that much about, and there aren't very many good English Language sources out there that don't make their way back _to_ Persona. Its design is very similar to Dogū figurines which are small effigies made during the Jōmon period which are believed to have been used to ward off illness
That episode title is...
...entirely unsurprising.
@@Zeik56 Typical Lucah!
Her B button must be broken
Seeing Lucah go from going through the story to the forensic gameplay activity is me whenever I have to go from the lecture to an in-class activity or "lab."
Well, at least we know Arahabaki has a sense of humor.
Just what i needed today!! Thank you so much gurl🙏
8:56 Yes, we have seen it before in Trials and Tribulations, but Apollo wasn’t around yet at the time, so it makes sense he doesn’t know about it.
Also, as was pointed out, this statue is now in Dr. Buff’s study, and Dhurke and Apollo are asking how it got there. And as we know, it originally belonged to the Feys, so it’s strange that it’s in this researcher’s house now.
JEEZ LUCAH! You can't put that thumbnail with that title and expect me not to crack up laughing, come on!
This is why I recommended playing the Trilogy version. You don’t need to blow into the mic very often.
Lucahjin: behold! The Founders Orb!
*brings out Pearl’s Steel Samurai ball*
If you ever get back to the office you have to examine the plant. We need to say Hi to Charlie. Also thx for a great time 😊❤
Paul Atishon! The best character in the game ARRIVES! Glory be to his name!
Anyhow, yeah, I like all the references to the original trilogy in in Archie's room, shame that suit case is so finicky. Like, makes sens you have to go for the thumb print with how clear it is, but the whole format is so picky and specific for how much room on the case they give you.
I caught up 37 episodes in 2 days... What am I supposed to do now ?!?! What will get me through the day ??!
(No really you're awesome! Watching your videos is really funny and makes the day so much better)
The suitcase is VERY infamous.
Btw, palanquins are pronounced as "pal - ann - keen "
The persona character in the background makes me think Claydol from Pokemon or Shakkoumon from Digimon
Glad to hear you're better, Reese! Your health comes first and foremost!
After finishing persona 5 last week seeing that weird persona statue in his office gave me war flashbacks 😭
Fun fact, you can hear someone go "Wee!" in Paul Atishon's theme music in certain parts
Lucah struggling to dust was so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
I love that you referenced the Arahabaki meme 😂
I believe that rock the game wouldn't let you read next to the statue is supppsed to be the Rosetta Stone (thank you, Animal Crossing!)
This is one of my favorite cases from the game!
Oh look it's a politicians also that's a name pun
Hope your voice gets better soon/you get better.
I forgot about the Jomon Dalek reference. I knew it worked, but that cracks me up.
also, slight spoilers: you start realizing how connected the games are at this point, seeing old pieces of evidence.
also, Paul's coat is a smoking jacket... or housecoat. made famous by Sherlock Holmes. not normally used by people travelling in palanquins. tells you how much arrogance the dude has.
Let's Go!
Apollo and Trucy weren't around in the old games, so they don't know about the status or the urn
Paul Atishon in his wagon looks like a vendor in a video game.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a fish.
No really, it's a plecostomus catfish. The fins are the horizontal and vertical 'stabilizers' and the frills along the pectoral fins are stylized whisker/ spines the males have to dig and defend their territory.
22:23 I was today years old when I realized that that purple dinosaur-looking thing was NOT the coffeemaker. Up until now, ever since playing this game 7 or 8 years ago and watching MANY LPs of it since then, I thought it was just a coffeemaker shaped like a purple reptile, because of the dialogue mentioned when you click on it. But like Lucah said I think it’s all one piece of dialogue for the area. Because I only just realized there’s a normal-looking coffee pot on the left-hand side of the table.
And at long last, Lucah meets Japanese Donald Trump. You can not tell HOW LONG I been waiting to crack this jab.
Don’t worry too much about blowing! There’s a blow button! …(coughs like Lucah)… Mhm!
Trucy the casual roaster is a mood and I love her! xD
I can't blow. That's what she said. :) You ever hear from Takari, Meowing Kittens? Love watching your Quest, Space and King's videos. :)
You only get the ladder dialogue on stepladders (no clue if there are more)
Ah, yes. The man. The Myth! The Atishon!
...
Nope. That sounds dumb. Have fun, Lucah!
You can try Neclord voice if you can.
Yeah, fingerprint dusting in this game is pretty obnoxious. I love that you can just press a button to blow but other than that it’s rough
“Is this a bird?”
“Looks like a plane”
Is it Superman?!?
Lucah blew her Asahi comparison way too early, Paul Atishon is right there! Same attitude towards politics, very slimy and self serving
OK, but...
...
...Paul is kinda cute, though, at least when he's happily bobbing his head. Given the direction they've taken with him so far, though ... he's probably going to turn out to be a kinda bad guy ... oh well...
you know after ya finish spirit of justice. there's only one more ace attorney game left... the layton crossover.
There's also the two Great Ace Attorney games
@@arashi86 which for a change, i recommend she plays through the modern port. the original version has an unfinished translation and also its not as polished as the official one. i support her decision to always play the original versions of these games but actually in the case of THOSE games, its not quite as good of an idea i feel.
I hope you got your water back ❤
23:32 I can't really blame you forgetting Lucah, it has been a long while since you've played Trials and Tribulations.
31:33 And say hello to the most punchable face in the game.
Don't be mean to Arahabaki, he's just vibing.
Fingerprints? I don't think so.
I feel your pain with this fingerprinting game Lucah. So much worse than on the regular DS.
(Improved) Fingerprinting
We need to give every American a free pony, and use zombies for renewable energy!
Girl the suitcase fucked me up too dont even worry about it. There is another "didn't click it the obvious thing perfectly" later in this case. I think you'll know it when you see it too. Killed me. Had me on google like "What do i do."
You're definitely not alone in having trouble with the fingerprinting in this game, it is absolutely the worst part of it.
Also, there are so many references in that room.
Oh god, it's Paul. I hate that guy. Fortunately, he doesn't get much screen time, but when he does, you'll hate every minute of it.
Also, that Persona clay doll thingy is actually a reference to something in real life. It's known as a Dogū - go copy that or "doguu" into Wikipedia.
That was clearly not a step ladder.
Greetings,
Paul Atishon's name, like many names in this series, is a pun.
Paul (pol) Atishon (itician)
Cheers,
co is
Blowing is fun if you actually know how to do it.
Have to Digler deep to find your Daddy Durke voice, Lucah 😂
But please rest when you need to.
All this talk about the orb and it’s not being pondered like in the memes?
Politics are not welcome in a spoilery environment!
...wait a second.
Man, Paul Atishon really thinks he can make Kurain great again, huh?
i think msot people wanted you to change the voice for dhurke cause your vfirst vocie for him sounded to simialr to your vice for datz c:
Oh god THIS FUCKING GUY
The fingerprint minigame is super janky in this game. This is not really a "Jeez Lucah" moment so much as a "Jeez Capcom" one.
Why people are so scared of Arahabaki?
I don't know, he's a pretty good Persona though.
People dropping anonymous tips isn't that weird. All you do is make a phone call, tell the police what happened but not who you are. It doesn't necessarily make someone a suspect. If it's for a murder it would probably be more suspicious, but for other types of crimes it's not necessarily suspicious
Daddy issues. That’s an understatement lmao
His name is pronounced POLITICIAN!!
I'm getting "make Kurain great again" vibes
Oh dear... lucah has started to pick up the canadian accent
>that title
Lucah, please. There are children present. XD
I feel like you’ve been sick pretty frequently lately…
I've been sick with the same thing for over 2 months. Hospital, Xrays and all. I had a serious lung infection and am still recovering. Thanks for understanding!
Take your time, my dear ❤ we love you sm
