Seriously I don’t think there’s anybody at Marvel who wants to basically do Spider-Man 98. They too afraid to even let Peter Parker grow up.
The audience has grown up. Mc u hasnt . Which is why its failing.
Well, they have no choice because they needs some success since Marvel is really not doing well.
@@dontemorgan1517exactly it better to eat their pride and let him grow up
@@dontemorgan1517 True, but the old guard has to step aside for Marvel to be great again.
Technically they aren't the just hate him happy
I want both shows, why can’t we have both? Why does it have to be ONLY Spider-Man ‘98 for everyone to be happy?
Because it's Spider-Man 98. Duh
@@FreshFalcon but can’t we have both?
Agreed. These debates are pretty dumb.
Because pretty much everyone is taired of "High school" spider-man we have not see a adult spider-man show since well the 90 spider-man.
And look if for some miracle spectacular return no one is gonna say nothing because its one of the best if not the best spider-man show in the modern era.
Freshman year wait my friendly neighboor hood spider-man is a spider-man that's like a what if i love the idea first this being a prequel to HC then they change it to a alternative universe so the point is why this show need to exist?
In short talk people are taired of Highschool spider-man shows, even in the comics the mature Peter dosen't exist anymore (at least 616 spider-man)
Studios don't want to put that much money into 2 projects that are just the same character. They'd rather have 1 consistent show
Why can't we have both? Why does it have to ONLY be one show or the other? That doesn't seem fair. :/.
Studios dont want to put money into 2 projects of the same character. They'd rather have 1 consistent project where all the fans can go to.
@@AccountNumb That's utterly ludicrous!! We should have both shows, imo. I'd watch both. :P.
@@hannahmetzger4880 well tbf, it wouldn't be a smart idea to have the same character have multiple tv shows for multiple reasons but the main reason being they don't want split resources on 2 of the same shows and rather put all their resources into 1 show to have the highest Quality
@@hannahmetzger4880no it is not
Funds. I’d rather the money go to the more interesting show.
Yeah, we'd love an adult oriented Spider-man. Show, movie, whatever.
That would be cool
Spider-Man: The New Animated Series was pretty much for adults
@@KingOfTheClownsi think they meant something that is adult and also in continuity. The MTV spider-man took so many liberties that it felt like a separate universe at times
@@Dhampir101980 Yeah, it was supposed to be a continuation of Tobey Maguire’s story but Spider-Man 2 just made TNAS its own thing
IDGAF, adults don't exist, only kidults. Spidey is permanently ruined post-venom, whose purpose was to mickeyfy him, that is, he used to be edgier almost to incel levels but now it's "something inside him", as per the western drunkard excuse "it wasn't me, bad mojo took over me".
Ditko's Spider-Man was all about being toxic, venomous even, and learning to handle it. Also in terms of relationships, which I don't LIKE, but that's part of Spider-Man, not my favorite character for that. I much more like Fantastic Four, and Spidey's friendship with Johnny Storm or Bobby Drake is what speaks to me. Peter is an important character, one I would rather let be himself.
The point is, Peter Parker is a figure who grew up as a nerd and resentful one at that, and peaked later in life with women tripping all over him, which DOES happen. That's the whole point of the Spider aesttehic, but all the stragglers like Venom and Miles just want to isolate that growth aspect and glorify these flat aspects in him.
I don't mind teenager Peter Parker because that's just my personal preference for Spider-Man, because it helps show Stan Lee's message that a teenager can be a hero just as long as they understand responsibility. I think the main reason why people are against the show is because it's MCU clickbait. Originally it was the origin of Tom Holland Spider-Man, but they clarified that it's actually an elongated "What If?" show. In other words, it's basically what Tom Holland would have been if Disney had all the rights to Spider-Man, not just to animated shows.
I can assure you it’s both , that it’s much clickbait and Peter being a teenager again .
Tom holland the worst spiderman ever

Fair enough. I guess it can be done
And one of godawful. Those resources could’ve been used to make the good show (SAT AM) better and given a proper final season and ending
@@Linklex7 I thought AOSTH was decent, mainly with Long John Baldry's Robotnik but if we're talking about Underground, that one wasn't great.
I first started reading Spider-Man comics in the late ‘80s, when he was married to Mary Jane and treated like an adult.
Besides his age, let’s not forget that the show ended on a huge open ending. Mary Jane all of a sudden just being back in a cameo in X-Men 97 with no explanation on how/when Peter found her isn’t good enough. That story needs a proper solution.
Indeed, Marvel needs to make Spider-Man 98 to bring that story to a close
Fans wanted Marvel Studio for the Fox Kids Universe to Countinue.
Well, i'm not everyone. Personally, I never grew up with spiderman 98. MY childhood spidey cartoon was spectacular spiderman. I'm not saying I don't like spiderman 98, I just never watched it. Should i?
I'm just looking forward to your friendly neighborhood spiderman because it's something new. But that's just me.
The 90’s series is definitely worth a watch because it adapts many of the classic storylines and Peter grows and matures by the series finale. And the Raimi films burrowed heavily from the show. It doesn’t top spectacular, but it’s worthy to stand alongside it
@@Dhampir101980 👍
Yes please do it really amazing
@@Dhampir101980 It has totally different tone from spectacular, so its quite difficult to make a comparison. Still i prefer the 90`s

I want it, I don't wanna see X-Men 97' set a precedent for Marvel to bring back old shows instead of something newer
FINALLY
exactly
No no hold on
The older shows should have a shot if X-Men '97 did an amazing job, and it did.
Id rather have a show I know will do well then a show that may not and die at 1-2 seasons.
I don't mind which era of Peter's life it is, so long as it's a good show. I totally understand the fatigue with 3 back to back HS era series, the latter 2 being just awful. It was revolutionary when SSM did it. I wouldn't mind college or young adult Spider-Man in a show. Like what the MTV series tried to do, but good.
Agree.
It's actually importan how the Story of this Show is, if the Story is not good enough well written than no mather witch age the main character is (kid, Teenager or adult) than is the Show not really worth to watch.
At this point people are sick and tired of Peter Parker / Spider-Man set around in high school and just be a cash in with the MCU, and wanted an older and mature spider-man series like the 90s cartoon. And with the success of X-Men 97, everyone wanted a Spider-Man 98 with classic Spider-Man stories and recognized characters that you love instead Freshyear since nobody cares about it. But hopefully Spider-Man 98 stick the shows universe.
There was one thing that made this interesting, and that it was a MCU Spider-Man prequel that took place before Civil War going over some small scaled adventures. And they scrapped that concept, so now it’s just another high school Spider-Man story.
Genuinely the worst idea ever. Thats the one thing they are s smart to scrap
I get why certain fan's want that, but at the same time it would affect the idea of marvel animation trying to explore separate content with different animation to explore.
Plus this show was already in development for a prequel then later on changed. And we gotta realize, there's gonna be more iterations for new comer's for a long time.
Bruh, fans need to STFU. It's literally their fault Daredevil' Born again had their first season episode count cut in half.
No. We don't need Spider-man 98. People need to grow up.
I made a video on my own channel going over some of the possible positives and negatives to reviving Spider-Man TAS. I feel like Spider-Man ‘98 would be the best place to bring to life stories from the comics that are long overdue getting adapted like “Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut!” or KLH (though that one needs room to be set up and executed well). You can just imagine CDB’s performance would be incredibly suited for those storylines.
Fans: we want I don’t Spider-Man no more high school

I absolutely love the way you dive into and dissect the fans' viewpoints without being biased. You're the kind of Spider-Man fan which I hope there will be more: Wise, sensible, unbiased, analytical, able to judge between right and wrong
Yeah, I'd love to see both Spider-Man '98 (if that really is greenlit because of how successful X-Men '97 is) and Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man do well together. I really do. But since I'm more inclined to the MCU, I've been wanting to see Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man fix and rectify some of the widely-debated issues Tom Holland's Spider-Man had until now.
That is by fully showing and addressing the spider-bite origin, Uncle Ben's existence (as verbally mentioned in What If...? - Season 1, Episode 5) and how his 6 months prior to Civil War went by. Once that's done, they can diverge from the MCU Sacred Timeline and tell their own story without breaking MCU continuity.
I’m actually genuinely looking forward to Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, honestly. I can appreciate that it is a somewhat new and more ambitious take than in the MCU films, so I really want it to succeed. And if we get 98 as well later down the line, I would love that too. I just want to have both.
I am so tired of HS spider-man 😑

@@LewisFilmsProductionsnah only dumb people are
I actually really want to see your friendly neighborhood spider man. They are doing something new there. Making norman peters mentor instead of tony and when norman becomes evil the emotional weight will be amazing if done well. So i want that to happen
Solid video! Piggybacking on my last comment, I think it’s great that they wanna do the classic Spider-Man show. Them diving into the 60’s Ditko era of Spider-Man with that vintage comic-esc animation style is exciting! Due to the MCU F4 and reading Spider-Man life story, I’d love to see a Spider-Man that was young in the 1960’s. That I feel like was made for older fans.
But the relatability of this isn’t there for older fans. The Avengers was always something for the adults, like Tony struggling with Alcoholism. The X-Men appeals to the outcasts. Spider-Man used to appeal to kids. But since Miles came in and modernized the character, Miles doesn’t appeal to kids anymore. Peter worked for a newspaper. Miles makes beats and listens to modern rap. Which is gonna be more in tune with the current youth?
That’s why people want Spider-Man ‘98. The people who grew up with Peter are now adults, and are going to sympathize more with someone who is married or learning how to be a father. Because that’s what we are going through now. If they are trying to appeal to kids, they should do a Miles Morales show. I am excited for this show for sure! I just fail to see who the exact demographic is.
Absolutely spot on! The market is there for an older Spider-Man and they're not tapping into it!
I literally went from a freshman to a sophomore waiting for this
Lmao
I guess we are all sick of new Spider-men. We want 90's Peter to come back, we want to see an experimented Spider-man in new awesome adventures.
Besides the show from 90's was truly great. He introduced for the first time the ideea of multiverse and also the idea of a shared universe like the Mcu nowadays.
John Semper already said that he would be verry happy to continue the 90's show.
Please Marvel, make Spider-man 98, we need it.
I have seen spidey in high school for so long that IDK
Ill stick with insomniacs spidey because they actually make him grow and maybe even get out of the bad financial situation he is in
Personally I don't have nostalgia for SMTAS since I just watched it through a few months ago. The same with Spectacular Spider-man. However I want both of them much more then this. Not gonna let that ruin my experience with this one however since I can't change it anyway
That's fair enough!
Just make Spiderman 98 & stop trying to appeal to younger generations. They have skibidi toilet
Exactly, we need Spider-Man 98, not another modern adaptation for a younger audience
Although I'm more hopefully that Disney will redo the classic TAS, I am hopefully for this show as one of my fav artist is helping with this project and they made a BOSS issue of Spiderman called "A Study in Scarlet and Blue." That artist is Meg Syverud, check them out if you have the time. But I saw a trailer for this show at Afro Animation and I gotta say, it may not be as good as the Homecoming trilogy or an improvement on the recent Spider shows, but I am hopeful
Yes freshman year is a mistake. Since x-men 97 was such a huge success, What Disney needs to do is bring back avengers earths mightiest heroes and anyone between spiderman the animated series or spectacular Spider-Man. Personally I like Spider-Man the animated series better than spectacular but I would bring spectacular back over tas because this gives more creative freedom cause all these projects would be taking place in different universes. X-men 97 in one universe, avengers emh is part of another alternate universe, and spectacular Spider-Man is off in his own universe. And yes because Disney has freshman year already finished basically and wouldn’t want 2 competing shows than there’s a fix to that. Release a brand new season of avengers emh in the mean time. So we have x-men 97, avengers emh, and Spider-Man freshman year. Once F year is done that do a spectacular Spider-Man
Marvel don't got the balls for '98.
How about a series focusing on Flash bullying Peter before he gets his powers? We can have episodes like "Peter Parker Gets A Swirlie" or "Flash Gives Peter's Science Textbook Chlamydia".
Thank goodness I came across this!
As for the Marvel competing with themselves, I kinda have one solution.
20 years ago in 2004, Cartoon Network aired Teen Titans alongside with Justice League (with unlimited) and later The Batman, maybe hypothetically, could be the same, kinda like when DiC made 2 Sonic the Hedgehog shows that aired at the same time.
Also, I'm not sure if it counts, but what about Spidey and his amazing friends? That's also a current Spider-Man series about a young Spider-Man (with Miles and Gwen), also 2nd Spidey CG show as well.
I do agree that young Spidey and in high school is still overdone and I'm ready to more adult Spidey tales with the proper stories.
this show is a def dark horse but ngl this should’ve came out long ago but oh better late than never
This may sound stupid but why do I feel like the events of this show is gonna tie in with the Secret Wars reboot. And essentially change MCU Spidey's origin story.
I want both because 90's spider man ended on a cliffhanger and freshman year is probably not gonna disappoint
Personally, I’m excited for freshman year, and I would personally rather get a new Spider-Man then go back to an old one. Although I would not mind if we could get both.
That’s fair enough!
I mean, here’s my take on all this:
I think Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman has a lot more to offer than people are giving it credit for. Instead of viewing it as just another highschool Spiderman show, this new series seems to be pulling from different areas of Spidey’s mythos to truly make this special. From what we’ve seen already we’ve got:
•The long form animation storytelling principles of Spectacular Spiderman
•The inclusion of the wider Marvel Universe much like the 90s Spiderman animated series.
•Steve Ditko art style from the original comics.
•The down on his luck issues we’re familiar with for this character.
And you have the interesting premise of this Peter being taken under the wing of Norman Osborn, already allowing for a whole new fresh storyline. That’s really, really cool.
Meanwhile, let’s look at the prospect of a Spiderman 98 show return. In my honest opinion, there’s not a whole lot to offer. They’ve already done the black suit arc, the spider mutation arc, Spiderverse stories, Secret Wars, and many many more. It’s also been confirmed that the story of Gwen Stacy already happened before the series first episode.
The only loose thread we had was the very end was Peter losing MJ in the multiverse, and now it’s been confirmed through X-men 97 that he found her.
So then, what’s the point of a return? What else do they really have to offer? From what I see? Nothing much. Perhaps a Kraven’s Last Hunt, maybe Superior Spider-Man arc. Maybe even kill him off and introduce Miles, as if that would make sense in this universe context.
I just don’t see it really. It feels like that show did everything it set out to do. I wouldn’t be against a return, but I encourage us to actually think about this.
All that said, I just feel bad for Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman. It looks like a show that’s trying to do something very special and fun, but nostalgia for the old stuff is getting in the way.
I agree
I mainly want a sort of connected animated universe where we occasionally get crossovers and interactions we couldn't get in the MCU
That's terrible, cause it would mean we won't get any different artstyle with separate content. Cuz last time I checked, many cartoon fans he been begging for more originals
@spideyguy3315 We can have that though. The 90s animated stuff had crossovers and different art styles and animation. Plus we could just have 2 Spiderman cartoons running
It doesn’t even need to be Spider-Man 98, just something where he is an actual man, young yes, but at least in his college years
Would not make a show but a movie
how he finds Mj (X-Men scene) or about him getting a child and dealing with the rose ?
Hellya I'm in
That could be cool, although Disney don't have the right to do that
I reserve judgement on the new spiderman show until I see it myself.
I don’t think there’s much we really need of MCU Peter in high school since he’s not really going to be Spider-Man with the homemade suit
I think they should have done Spider-Man '98 instead. Then a reboot of the whole animated universe with Avengers, Iron man, Fantastic four, etc.
Hell no 😭 if they did 98 it would turn out ass imo I’m sick and tired of continuations I just want new fresh new Spider-Man content
It needs a continuation. X-Men 97 was good if the same people make Spider-Man 98 it'd be good.
@@Spider-Man1234-e9o just because X-Men 97 turn out good. That doesn't mean Spider-Man 98 would be good

That’s fair
This series has some potential but I still would like to see Spectacular Spider-Man get revived.
Also I hope we don't have to see the origin story with Uncle Ben and his "with great power" speech all over again. I get that it's integral to the character but at this point literally everybody knows it
I have a feeling we will

We'll if they do ever revive the 90s Spider-Man show here's what may or may not be such a good idea for it, they could have Flash Thompson become Toxins host as a nod to Agent Venom, since I doubt they'd want Eddie Brock to ever not be Venom in that show.
Yeah
no but seriously why is there no adaptation of kravens last hunt one of the most iconic spiderman comics just bc we cant have anything about a married spiderman
We never see adult Peter in animation, so I'd want to see that.
Is Friendly Neighborhood still supposed to be set loosely in the MCU or not?
The 90s Spider-Man cartoon was my first exposure to the Character and i want to see if he actually finds MJ with Mademe Webb and see 90s Peter have new adventures and i ussaly perfer Adult Peter Parker and i dont want another teenager high school spidey again
🤓: actually they renamed it to friendly neighborhood Spider-Man
Because we don't want more MCU slop. (it doesn't help that they've announced this after the hype of No Way Home, and now all that Hype has died down)
Moreover, I just want something with a more unique voice, like With AEMH or X-Men '97
How about a series based around Spider-Girl (Mayday Parker) with a grown up Peter Parker acting as her mentor. Sort of a "Batman Beyond but with Spider-Man" sort of thing?
If Sony didn’t own Spider-Man We would probably have way more Spider-Man stuff and I bet ASM would be good too
Yeahhh
Nope, bring back Spectacular Spiderman instead. I would've preferred Wolverine & The X-Men S3 over X-Men 97' also
To be honest I think they should cancel neighborhood Spider-Man and continue with Spider-Man that came out in 94 so they should do a Revival Spider-Man 98 because how many times we need to see Peter Parker in high school I think we should see Peter Parker now when he's a grown adult and he got married a long time ago 6:39
Freshman year is my most anticipated marvel show. If I had it my way I’d have both
What I’m worried about is how the animation will be, because from the stills and images we’ve gotten it doesn’t seem promising
Most likely we’re probably happen to Spider-Man freshman year is that Disney+ will only order 40 episodes and divided up into two or four seasons. Depending how Disney wants to treat this series.
Freshman year is almost done with production it would be too late
It's been in development so long, that now it's set in High school instead of college. There better be a Spider-Man 98, but we can't rush it.
I do not want to f****** broke Peter Parker!
It's just confusing is it supposed to be toms spiderman origin or not? And if so does this mean his norman Osborne is dead just like tobey version of the character? And why won't they make a movie on it instead of making it animated tom clearly looks young enough to play a 15 year old.
Why not have both? Make 2 cakes so we can have a cake and then eat one as well?
Freshman year was in production before x men 97
This just was announced at a bad time tbh. The show doesn't seem bad but its happening at a time where everyone wants Spider-man 98
I want Spider-Man 90s revive because it would bring closer to the Mary Jane clone.thing and the new villains and supporting charters it would intdoducd. They could do one final.season
And we.still get the.friendly neighborhood Spiderman show. They changed the name it's no longer called " freshman year"
It took 5 years for them to make friendly neighborhood/freshman year. If we wait for Spider-Man 98 it’s going to be another 5 years. Just give us freshman year for a few years while working on 98
Im tired of young Spider-Man i want to see adult established Peter Parker with his wife Mary Jane Watson. Like enough High School Adaptation if your gonna have young Spider-Man do Miles Morales let freshmen year be about Miles fuck Peter we want adult Peter Parker
That’s fair
To bad cry harder
Hopefully friendly neighbourhood spider man will have a much better time then wily cyote vs. Acme because that is pretty much stuck in limbo
I rather have the og pick up and continue rather than having a reboot just to end with a cliff hanger.
Thats fair
People really didn't understand how long it took to make a cartoon. They start making this 2022 same time with X-Men '97. Even if they start to making Spider-Man '98 now we can't get it at least 2 years and till that time '97 hype gonna die down anyways.
The marriage at the end.
We want to see that..
No we need to..
Every time someone brings up Freshman Year, I soon forget about it and I'm a big Spidey fan
Honestly, a continuation of '98 or Spectacular would be better. We already have too many Spidey shows where he's in high school.
I want to see a Miles Morales show that takes place between the two recent movies.
I kinda like the look of Freshman Year. I'll give it a chance.
I have no real desire to see a cartoon based on the movies. It's an adaptation of an adaptation. Cut out the middle man and give me something new. I'm tired of MCU synergy taking over everything.
This isn't going to happen, unfortunately. Spider-Man as a character hasn't been allowed to grow both in the comics and outside them for the last 20 years or so. Whenever they get too close to showing Peter graduating from high school, getting a job and settling down, they'll just cancel the project and do another one telling the same story. Peter Parker's name should be changed to Peter Pan, because he's the character that's never gonna be allowed to grow. The fact that we have Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man is a miracle. Unfortunately, Spider-Man '98 is never getting greenlit, and the marriage also isn't coming back
Yep
One thing I'd like to see is a Spider-man show in the same vein as Superman and Lois where Peter and Mary Jane have their own kids and Peter has to balance family life with being a superhero and maybe even training a next generation hero.
Hey, call me crazy, but I'd like to see Miles Morales and Mayday Parker dating

I mean what is Marvel supposed to do? Cancel a show they’ve been working on for over 3 years because fans suddenly want something else? Fans always start asking for something new. All the time. Sometimes it’s better to just let the creatives do what they want.
Freshman year has been in the works forever!! Are they supposed to just cancel the show and pivot to '98? Christopher Barnes will forever be my one and only Spidey, but I'm gonna need my fellow fans to touch grass and grow a brain.

Yeah
Bring back Spectacular Spider-Man! What happened to fans of that?
I honestly have hope in Your Freindly Neighborhood Spider-Man becuase even though we've gained soooo many highschool... for the past 15 years (pre spectacular's cancelation), we have never received a highschool story that was REMOTELY good.
They were all horrible.
When it came to the mcu movies? They were just a window dressing and a COMPLETE afterthought... homecoming did it's best with it the most, but it wasn't anything truly meaningful.
Ultamate Spider-Man barely gave a clear input on his highschool stories, becuase the characters around him were sheild 'picked heroes that would work alongside The Spider-Man, and the show in general felt more like an advertisement for the MCU's sheild.
And don't get me STARTED on the cartoon that started in 2017... they done placed peter within a *MAD HOUSE* filled with "gifted" scientist! Like, there was no inkling of relatability to the school he was in or HIM in general. That peter was annoying as hell, dog... simply pathetic.
Yes, i do agree that we need more stuff that explores Spider-Man in his adult years, but you gotta understand that we haven't even gained ANYTHING good when it comes to peter's highschool years for a freaking DECADE.
....a *decade*
Hearing what YFN Spider-Man is gonna try to do guves me hope becuase it's reminding me even more of spectacular. The only exception i WILL give that makes me worried comes down to the friends he's with.
They have super-hero relations.
That worries me... the only ones that DO have relations with Spider-Man are Harry and Lonnie Lincoln (The Tombstone).
At this point on?... i'm just crossing my fingers 🤞.

Not much to say, but I enjoy 94’ Spider-Man…
They wasted years on this show when they could have given the fana exactly what they want with Spectacular Spider-man or Spider-man 98.
Personally, I'm tired of young Spider-man stories. Marvel refuses to let Peter grow and mature.
Like bringing Spectacluar back is possible
They see how things were 20 years ago and fail to realize how having a Spider-Man more in-tuned with Modern youth (Miles) have changed that. Lol
@BoldDude951 it is possible marvel/disney has the animation rights yes.... but there are exceptions for sony. Marvel/disney can use Spider-Man in animated series UNDER 45 minutes. Sony can use Spider-Man in animated projects OVER 45 minutes... hence the Spider-verse films. If Sony really wanted to they could just release theatrical films continuing the spectacular Spider-Man story... or just do what Warner bros does and release straight to video/streaming animated movies. Knowing Sony they aren't doing that 😂😂😂
@@BoldDude951No it isn’t because Sony owns Spectacular

They raceswap Gwen just like what they did to Mary Jane.
Yes, we want Spider-Man 98.
Now.
I want spider man 98
I'd rather have another sequel to PS1 Spidey.
I'm not going to shoot down this show I remember people shitted on xmen 97 saying it was woke thrash and it was terrible then became crickets . Plus Brad winterbaum said that this series will be like old Steve ditko books and be a serialized story. As long as it's not like what if I'm fine 😂
Yeppp
Just have John Semper make a original Spiderman '98 movie that ties up the cliffhangers from the original show.
I am a fan and I want this
Sorry I want a new version of the character instead of a nostalgic one.
Fair enough!
