In this video we are covering the Disney + Spider-Man Marvel series Spider-Man Freshman Year and the characters, including other marvle superheroes and villains that are going to be appearing in the show including Doc Ock, Norman Osborn and heroes such as Daredevil played by Charlie Cox and Doctor Strange.

I still very strongly believe that tony is dead following the events of civil war. Tony killed bucky and cap smashed his shield right thru tony's chest. Banner and Thor at this time were in ragnarock and t'challa was dealing with killmonger. This leaves NY totally open for spidey, daredevil and other street heroes. Norman can easily setup oscorp in place of avengers tower and from this point I believe the series starts.

So instead of us seeing his whole journey from the spider-bite to becoming the friendly neighbourhood spider-man, it's more like Spectacular Spider-Man, where we start off with him sort of knowing how to be spider-man already but still inexperienced, plus some flashbacks of his past

U don’t get it, it was confirmed that this is an origin story in an alternate time brench since the multiverses collapsing yes this is involved in the MCU but it’s alternate universe
@@Anythingpossiblebutnotu I'm saying we start off with peter already being spider man, but a rookie one, like in Spectacular, where "Spider-Man" was still just an urban legend cause he had only been Spider Man during the summer
I’m nervous about the entire supporting cast being supers. Depending on what direction they take it, this is shaping up to be the third spidey cartoon in a row where he’s showhorned into this massive team with leagues of other superheroes de-aged into being Peter’s high school peers. It’s not a direction I’m super fond of for the character and it didn’t work too well in those shows either. But I guess we’ll see how it goes. The core premise has a lot of potential, I just don’t want to see it bogged down with 15 uninteresting supporting characters again.
I hope not either. I'm kinda tired of spidey, the most grounded super of them all, always getting surrounded by supers in each of his newest iterations. At least let him have some breathing room with some normal life as a teenager.
Worst case scenario they cancel it after one season. We’ll always have more spider man :)

The idea of an adult Norman getting his hooks in a young and vulnerable Peter is so, so promising and the drama of Peter overcoming that presumably toxic relationship could be so cool to see. *That* is something we likely won’t get again.
I'm not gonna lie I was genuinely exicted about the idea of this cartoon. I know I'm no longer in the target age for this anymore but I'm always gonna give spiderman cartoons a shot... but this roster has me loosing hope fast. Also I hate to be that guy , but seriously, what is with the swapping of red heads?

I'm almost convinced that this isn't a Tom Holland Spider-Man prequel at all and just a standalone Spider-Man cartoon that takes inspiration from the MCU

It's been awhile since we got new pieces of news on this series, but I'm glad it's not canceled. This series looks like it's based more on the comics than on the MCU, but I'm still excited for it.😃
Agreed , personally I still kinda wish it took place in the mcu , but I don’t mind it taking place in this universe. Norman Osborn/green goblin is prob the best written , I just hope it has a bit more serious tone compared to other Spider-Man animated shows so they can take more risks
@@jacobtarter2237 I personally don't want it to be an adult cartoon. If it's a Spider-Man cartoon, it should be for all ages. I mean, I'd still watch it cuz it's Spider-Man, but that's just what I think.

The demon from Dr Strange screenshot seems to be Blackheart that first appeared in Daredevil comics so maybe that's how they will connect all these heroes. Also I think the first episode will be an origin story for both this and MCU Peter but this will change with Osborn coming to his house basically changing all that we know about Spidey.

Great review, I was surprised that Lonnie will become Peter’s friend! But I suppose that is some of the changes they made to they’re own show, just to so it won’t be like the same old thing you see in a spider man series. And it will be nice to the tarantula in action.
I will say, I'm pretty excited for Lonnie Lincoln in this new show, and when you mentioned his name, I quite literally sat bolt upright, as I know him from both the Spectacular Spiderman and from the Insomniac Spider-Man game. I think that it'd be a pretty interesting plot point for Lonnie to be Peter's friend, but is also maybe later on in the series, or in secret (take your pick) is exposed to a drug like Diox-3, turning him into Tombstone, however, I'm not quite certain on how he'd become a nemesis for Spider-Man in the first place, would probably need to watch the show to see that happen

I'm just glad this show isn't canceled. We barely heard anything since it was announced and all these screenshots were shared. So I was a bit worried.
3:54 Speaking of Finesse they could've easily used HER as "Taskmaster" in Black Widow and Introduce the REAL Taskmaster after. I did this in my Black Widow Rewrite cause it just makes MORE SENSE
🤔 You've cracked the code, as throughout all of the discussion for Black Widow I'd never heard this character's name in relation to Taskmaster, as a comic novice, but it just makes so much more sense.

I think it’s interesting that for this version of spider-man they’re putting the back logo on the front, it looks kinda off but maybe it’ll work in the show

I always thought the ide of freshman year was dumb but since this is an alternate reality with norman I'm okay with it but the animation style is 50/50 for me
Art style you mean, we haven't seen any actual animation yet
I'm also not sell on the art style, I can see me liking it but the images/screenshots looks stiff or like static movements but we'll see.
The thing Im worried about is that they pull a 2017 spiderman show were all of peters classmates become super heroes. Thats just a really dumn idea.
This is pretty interesting and I'm looking forward to it. I was a big fan of Ultimate Spider-man Peter and it gives me similar vibes. Also giving Norman is signature waves and making him black make me laugh for some reason, cause alot of my younger black friends used to joke that Norman had better waves than some dude we knew. Full circle moment. Anyway, this is looking sick and I love me any and all Spider-man content.
I really hope this show comes to Hulu as well as Disney plus others wise I might have to get a plus account as soon as this show becomes available

1610 peter had so much potential as an adult but he died and was brought back and retired but said he'll be back and now idk what happend to him in 2015 secrete wars and 1610 is back
Ngl I’m a bit hyped for it tbh . I like the animation, and to me some of the shots feel straight out of a comic book which I kinda like . I just hope they set the right tone tbh , it’s a Spider-Man animated show so it’ll have its goofy, silly lighthearted moments and I’m fine with that . I just hope they have enough like serious moments to balance it out a bit. I like that a lot of the characters are kinda unknown to me , can’t really explain why but I do. And Ik a lot of his friends here get powers at one point in the comics , so they prob will in the show . I don’t mind it if they become heroes in the 2nd or 3rd season , I personally just want the first season to be mainly Peter being the only one with powers . Because in the movies and tv shows , we haven’t had like a solo Spider-Man run for the full movie or season of a show in awhile , he’s alway teamed up with other Spider-Man characters or the avengers . Which is one of my bigger complaints abt the Spider-Man mcu movies , is another avenger or hero is involved somehow

So update on the show, it's just been announced that the CGI Anime studio Polygon Pictures will be the studio animating Spider-Man Freshman Year

I always thought that the football player was Harry, and I still think it is. I saw a source say that he was a football jock in this show.

I am very curious about this show so it takes place in a mcu timeline where tony didn’t recruit Peter to help him so does that mean the events of civil war still take place right so that means the show will have to eventually show the events of infinity war and endgame right

This seems like a show with alot of potential. I think this could be a contender for the best spider man tv show ever, even rivaling spectacular
_Lonnie Lincoln,_ eh? NICE to see Tombstone getting some more exposure (👍). I can see him and Peter having a friendship eventually turning _villainously_ sour in this show. Though I'm now curious as to how similar and/or different Peter and Harry Osborn's friendship will be; they're the _classic_ best friends turning tragically villainously sour.
Hopefully it runs more than 2 seasons why can we just get a 10 season. Mature Spider-Man animated series. But my hopes aren't high. I'll just watch this and take it for what it is.... another short lived animated series

Whenever I see images from this show, it reminds me of that Stretch Armstrong show on netflix
Also, doctor strange didn’t turn into a wizard only after civil war for what I know, he just didn’t participate in the war mess.
I just hope they remember that this is a Spider-Man show. What I hate about the shows from Ultimate Spider-Man and onward is that they kept having other heroes show up in every other episode. I don't care about them, sure it's cool for them to show up but I am not watching it for them. I am already worried about what's to come with that many people in the supporting cast that in comics are a hero which makes me think that they're going to form some kind of Young Avengers.
The only thing about the show that im excited for is how they handle the identity crisis saga, everything else is worrying, I hope softmore year will include some better stuff, this is of course only the beginning/origin of this Spider-man so I won't judge too much
its also interesting to note that amadeus cho becomes the iron spider in the ultimate spider man series

This show has potential already, Disney failed the Spider-man fan base with ultimate and Marvels spider-man.
They didnt fail anybody other than salty spetacular fans with Ultimate😂.
Ultimate was written partially by Man of Action who made Ben 10 and Generator Rex. Its a good series and no one actually has any proper criticisms for it outside of stylistic choices like 4th wall breaking and jokes when the series did that on purpose to progress the maturity of the characters later on

This new series has some potential since I’m giving it a chance. I like the idea that Disney is going on this “what if” scenario tho with some retro feel on the animation design. It looks like 60s-70s comic book art.

Not even once was it marketed as an adaptation...when has marvel EVER done a 1:1 cartoon adaptation? Never...not even once.
DC only recently did that with DCAMU because before that they didnt do that either. Comics are too expansive to do 1:1 adaptations.
Spectacular Spider-Man isnt an adaptation of its comic book counterpart...so why is ultimate judged on its title? And which comics exactlu do "The Amazing" Spider-Man movies pull from?😂

@@no.1spidey-fan182 spectacular Spider-Man has blended with both mainstream and ultimate comic books. I’m not talking about “adaptation” I’m saying source of material is important when it comes to marvel or dc on making a cartoon.
The DCAU used parts of the dc comic books for inspiration for the storyline on certain characters like Batman and Superman. Other than that that universe isn’t a direct adaptation of any comic book just using comic book stories for inspiration.
Yes Disney slapped “Ultimate” on their version of Spider-Man on ultimate Spider-Man. Other than that I never liked the series couldn’t get into it and I dislike Drake bell.

Simple: It's set in another universe which is kinda like the MCU but instead Norman Osborn takes Peter under his wing, maybe his main suit will be made my Oscorp

This is the second time they used Amadeus cho as Peter's friend. First was in the ultimate Spiderman TV series.
I think a cool way of them doing the goblin would be like this:
Harry gets jealous of peter being more of a son to norman than himself, motivating him to becoming the goblin and killing peter, by the end of the show he somehow ends up dying and Norman, while the final fight is happening, possibly at night, starts worrying since harry should've been home by now, and after searching his room he finds a secret room, where he discovers Harry is the goblin. After the goblin dies, Norman gets angry at peter and cuts relations with him, ending the show in a sad note, where peter lost his father figure and his friend (the one who becomes tombstone, I can't remember his name).
Softmore year begins, and at some point, we find out the Goblin is back, and peter ends up somehow discovering it is actually norman who is behind the mask, trying to get revenge for his son, he took an enhanced version of captain america's super soldier serum he invented himself in order to be strong enough to deal with spider-man, making this the ''close relationship conflict'' of this season (peter's friend becoming tombstone would be the conflict of that season)
I don’t think harry would take it this far just beating him half to death or torture him but not kill him.
@@eeeeewu I mean, harry doesnt seem to be a childhood best friend in this show, so you never know, spectacular made harry the goblin because norman wanted him to be a man, so I dont doubt jealousy could motivate him

I have a theory about this universe, u know whats really the point of having this show? In deadpool 3, deadpool is told to merge some universes with mcus one. What if he is also going to merge this one and thats how we get for example doc ock and oscorp and if Norman is to Peter there what Tony was to ours then seeing Peter maybe idk blaming this Norman for Mays death causes Osborn to go evil?

I almost forgotten about this show.. I still hope its canon because honestly it feels kinda soulless to me now that its not even mcu canon and doesn’t even feel important to me a whole lot anymore however I do kinda like the what if scenario about it and I am excited about a new spiderman show even though it doesn’t feel like it matters to the whole mcu. Which makes me think that it has to have something to do with the mcu because there would be no point for it to be titled as an mcu project if it doesn’t even have anything to do with the mcu itself however I guess you can say the same thing about xmen 97 which also is a “mcu project” that had nothing to do with the mcu in itself so I guess its fine. i just hope that it’s somewhat canon and is good in its whole.

This series is set in the early years as Spiderman so, at least for the first season, he will be attending high school still and the Midtown High. Maybe, secons season will be about him going to College
