There are many aspects of being in Malaysia as both a tourist and a year's attempt at living here that I like - language, multi-culturalism (of sorts), multiple cuisines, good inter-city bus system, friendly people, ability to actually make local friends (very different than Thailand), proximity to Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, modest cost, etc. But the one negative factor that caused me to close down my apartment and leave was a deal-breaker: the very loud, ugly voice and 365 days per year electronic pre-dawn call to Muslim prayer of the local surau. I loathe the interrelationship between politics and religion here, of a chauvanistic supremacist mentality in action. By law there has to be these preachy announcements in every housing areas even where few Muslims live. I found it in principal and practice unforgivable. So, I left. I have spent extended periods of time in Turkey (where the azan is sweet) and Indonesia (where the Islam is softer somehow). I refused to accept the Malaysian government pushing Islam. In general, Malaysians, like those in other Southeast Asian countries, seem to be fairly amiable people. We are accustomed to seeing foreigners in our country. Unless they need our aid, we usually let them enjoy our country on their own. In that case, we would be more than pleased to assist them. Alternatively, we worry that we can be perceived as invading their privacy or stirring up unwarranted suspicion on their part. Yet, we extend a warm welcome to all visitors and expatriates alike, and we encourage them to get to know us as civilised people who can make good friends with them especially when they are in our country.

Thanks for your kind comment :) We feel super welcome in Malaysia :D
Hello! Can you please tell me what camera holder/stabilizer and microphone you're using? Thank you so much :)
Ey mate :) this is all the equipment I use to film:
DJI OM4 (In my opinion better than the newest DJI Gymble I've tried): amzn.to/43IqgCV
Saramonic Blink500 Pro: amzn.to/3DqxsJ8
iPhone 13 Pro Max: amzn.to/3rL3LQv
Tripod ZIKZOK 75 Inch: amzn.to/3Os0EFQ

Famous answer for the last question "If it feels good do it". A lot of secret Aleister Crowley fans out there apparently.

@@Chai_Travel Maybe you can go to 𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆 𝑴𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒂, in Padang Kemunting, Masjid Tanah, Melaka. Open everyday at 9.30 am. They closed at 4.30 pm. But better call them first before go there.
In that area there are several budget hotels, homestays and chalets near the beach.
Thanks so much for the tip! I’ll have a look ❤️ you’re the best!
Catch up Lion dance performance 😁👍

I like it when he says stop working and start traveling.
Me too 😃 unfortunately not everyone is in that position to do so but if you financially can, why not do it :)

I think it's better to do the interviews somewhere out of the walkway and street. it's kinda dangerous.
I am a vegetarian myself.. as a Malaysian even though it's a bit hard to find vegetarian food here but we still can ask the non vegetarian restaurants to cook vegetables, soy tofu or if u r lacto-ovo vegetarian eating egg still can ask those Chinese or Malay restaurant to cook it for us. Even they're meat eater but still they are familiar with our food as a vegetarian. If u don't like spices food just let them know . Also our drink if we don't want to much sweet in our drink must let them know to put a little bit of sugar or sweet creamer in it. Mostly Malaysian love sweet drink.
..so far Malaysia is safe but whatever it is just be careful and don't trust people easily if u are traveling alone.
I’ve traveled alone for over 10 years and I almost trust everyone and I really wanna keep trusting most of the people I don’t know :) most people are lovely and helpful 🤗
@@Chai_Travel 👍🏻👍🏻
Malaysia is beautiful.very safe country
That's true. Far safer than the UK, Im glad my Granddaughter goes to school here.
In terms of safety ..Females should not travel at night alone past midnight on foot but that's the practice in most countries.
Good tip! Thanks for watching and advice 😁 like you say I think so too it’s in most countries like that ❤️
Go visit Dungun Terengganu😊
I’ll do my best :) maybe next time we visit 😁
Does anyone know when is the best time or month to visit Malaysia? Specially Penang. Please help me
November to January Not raining too much and nice temperature
I too do recently realise we are more 'vegetarian' than we think. I sometimes have vegetarian dishes and I didn't notice at all.
That’s it but 😋 friend chicken you can find everywhere 🤣
@@Chai_Travel yes, we love our fried chicken lol. But in our culture, we have so many vegetable inspired dishes. I think it's one of the reasons why we have so much pandan and coconut in our meal lol
BRO come visit Shah Alam, Taman Botani, Tasik Shah Alam, Big Mosque in Asia,
One day I will :)
Road trip to Thailand was a disaster. The people were rude at the border town and nobody would assist with the highway payment card. Spent hours trying to find one and on the end they said they don't sell them anymore. Bad experience at immigration where the woman was adamant to see a hotel booking even though it was not a requirement to enter. I would never drive into Malaysia again. I would rather get a flight and use the local transport.
Sorry to hear that. I’ve done it a few times, by land. Always was okay. I can understand why y op I do wanna do this anymore after such a bad experience. Thanks for sharing🏆
I have had the same problem at that border. It's a shame
Come to Sabah ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’d love to
Ponnambalam cell Murugan bonda mani love this video
Thank you 🏆😁
Penang Lang Kia...lai...lai...lai....
can someone define what mean by " stop working, start traveling"?
If you’re in a financial position to buy expensive food every day, a car or a house. Don’t buy it, stop working, and start traveling with the money you have. I’m pretty sure he meant that. Unfortunately not everyone can do this.
Malaysia got ROTI CANAI n TEH TARIK.
What more do you want at 8am?
Hello Chai great interviews I think early in the 80's I travelled to Club Med Malaysia just open on the east coast not sure whether the resort is still there. Great seeing different areas of Malaysia. Stay Champ take Care.
Wow! That must have been so cool! Traveling in Malaysia in the 80s 😎
We’re moving quickly and are in KL now :)) have a beautiful day and night ❤️🤗
Yes the club med is still operating. Welcome u for the revisit.
