Awww, that’s too bad but on the bright side, you still get a new Indonesian family. ❤ On the DNA results, most Indonesians will get a mix of Thai, Cambodian, Malay since our ancestors came from mainland SE Asia. Many of these DNA companies don’t have a big enough database of people from this region, so they can’t differentiate and pinpont the ethnicity.
Yeah, in particular austroasiatic DNA that matches with Cambodia. Also the big DNA companies use a very small DNA sample set for SEA. They give very little attention to Indonesia. Indonesia is such a diverse genetic area and very little attention given to it.
I'm devastated for you guys Chai however so pleased that your mum is comfortable with the outcome. One thing for certain you have found some very special Indonesian friends as a result of this search and that in itself is a massive win. You and Noona were so determined with this so hoping you both are coping well with this disappointing news. 🤩
Thanks Steven! Yeah it devastating for sure. I think it need some time to heal because I was pretty sure. Everything was pointing at Mis Sajem (the one we found) anyway we stay connected with Bambang and Indonesia ❤️
It's common for Sundanese, Javanese & Balinese ( i guess) to have balanced genetics between austroasiatic (thai, cambodian) & austronesian (indonesian etc)
@@DYTIII Thai Cambodian are nationality. Their native are austroasiatic calls Khmer Mon people. Indonesian also nationality and the native are : 1. Melanesia (papuan) 2. Austroasiatic (Javanese Sundanese Balinese) 3. Austronesian (Toraja Dayak Nias Mentawai)
I don't care about the results Chai, I know you , Noona, MaMa LouLou, Mr Bambang through your videos as well, one thing I know that you are half indonesia🇮🇩 no matter what, you all are super kind heart humans who care for everyone in this beautiful world ❤. Thank you so much for taking us in your amazing journey and hope we'll move forward watching your Cambodia🇰🇭 series very soon, stay Champ brother 🌸🌺💕❤😊💯✌
My paternal ancestry is Balinese. I have done both 23andMe and Ancestry tests, but these DNA tests devote very little attention to building accurate reference pools for Southeast Asia, largely because there's no money in it. (They build accurate datasets by sampling 200 or so people in each region whose own ancestry has shown to be native to the region - they do this intensively in areas like Europe, but give little attention in Asia). For the 23andMe test, I got 48.6% "Indonesian, Thai, Khmer, and Myanma," which is such a broad category that it’s practically pointless. This region is extremely genetically diverse, and even within Indonesia, there’s significant diversity. There is a genetic connection between Javanese/Balinese and Cambodians (Austroasiatic migration), but much less so with Thailand and Burma. The only somewhat interesting feature of 23andMe is its haplogroup analysis-mine was a sub-type of Haplogroup O-M268/O1B, which is common among Balinese. Meanwhile, the Ancestry DNA test was slightly less vague regarding autosomal DNA regions: 36% Maritime Southeast Asia and 14% Mainland Southeast Asia.
Whatever the result, it does not reduce the value of brotherhood from your and mama Loulou's journey to Indonesia. I really hope mama Loulou will find her ancestral lineage, maybe not now but someday. We never know. Send my love and respect to mama Loulou and to you.😊💝
If you sent the DNA in separately, maybe either one of the DNA analysis was not included in the database by the time the other one was analyzed. What should have been done is to get a lab to test both specimens and compare them directly.
It sounds like they had control over the accounts for both samples. It shouldn't matter as you can control the privacy settings on sharing the DNA with other users at will. Like you can turn the privacy the settings to stop sharing so you will stop finding matches and matches will stop finding you, and then you can turn it back on later if you wanna see if there's any more updates, i.e. if anyone else has updated their DNA in the meantime.
Hello Chai & Mumma - this is a lot to take in - the results are of course disappointing - however I feel Mums connection to Indonesia has grown stronger with your visit and indeed also yours . It was nice to see you both laughing towards the end , you are both very special people & Thank you for sharing this all with us 👌👋👍🙏
That’s the one mate 🙏❤️ thanks again for being such part of this journey 🫡🤣 its a shame it didn’t go as we hoped but surely we had a great time. Have a great night
At least you tried Chai, that counts for something and maybe someone will match in the future on their platform. Stay safe and enjoy your little vacation with Noona, my two UberChamps, cheers 🙏👊
I was hoping they would be a match. Your mother is disappointed but wearing a brave face. Try Ancestry or 23 and you might find a close match. I'm 2% Asian
Javanese share DNA with Kmer people in Laos and Camboja. Some History said Javanese a long time ago migrated there. Culturally Kmer people and Javanese also close and have similarity.
Okay I'm not sure if it's after independence law or before the independence they had similar law, but if i am not mistaken by the law non muslim aren't allowed to adopt Muslims kids in Indonesia. So may i suggest maybe try to find your mom datas in Christian orphanage in Java. They might have it documented since your mom is adopted by the Dutch couple right. Maybe by searching at christian orphanage in Java it would make it easier for you to find them
@@Chai_Travel I hope with wider range of people's DNA data, you'll find some relatives. I wish you and your mom stay healthy and safe. No matter what the result are, you're part of Indonesian family, your journey is so precious.
Chai, It was a Good search experience for you and your Mom, but it is Good so. Just what Mom said, … That’s Live. Be Realistic. 🙏 Have a nice Holiday. 🙏
@Chai_Travel Myheritage is only for finding out who our ancestors are, but if you want to find out whether someone is blood related to you or not, you can check their DNA at the hospital.

Sorry it wasn’t a match. But one thing for sure is that your mother’s DNA makes her a true South East Asian. How unique your channel showcases that part of the world where you now live.
I believe your mom is from the aristocrat family from the Sanskrit Kumpuchean. She is the last of her generation just like i have become the last generation. The war history might help give the Timeline of years and movements of people. I do see alot of Burmese people fleeing their country because of the civil war. Your mom needs to focus on Cambodian history, culture, and the people. I wonder what had happened to prince sihanouk ? He and his family went into exile becoz of the war. I am sure your mom is from the aristocrat family who had disappeared. Don't give up on Cambodia. There's something about Prince Sihanouk lineages and it would be a good starting point to locate its lost kingdom.. i am sure the tibeten monks might be able give a clue of the malayan brahmins and Swammi and Kumpuchean monks. Where are our South East Asians people of the 1800s and 1900s? 21st century world be a century of discovery and endeavour?
Look, bro. I don't care if it match or not. I just believe your mom is Indonesian. So whatever the test result, you and mama Lulu ís Indonesian and have Indonesian blood through your vein. You may lost your heritage, so what? Mama lulu's child memories was just more than enough to prove that
