    I loved the show done in Creole; I don't get to hear of speak Creole too often. I've lived in the States for forty-three years and I haven't forgotten my Creole. Whenever I feel the urge to speak Creole, I simply call up my cousin who lives in Miami, FL and we break out into the Creole immediately.

      Lol Ralph. I'm glad I married a Belizean man because I would die if I had to speak English all day. Jada speaks it well enough and understands too much, but my boys only understand they don't speak it.

      Hi Dee Dee. I've been in America for over 30 years and we still speak Creole at home. It wasn't until I did this video that I realized how Americanized my Creole is. lol I'm trying to throw some creole in each video, but if I keep it all in creole I'd have a very small audience. Don't worry I'll keep them coming.

    • @TheBarePantryShow
      @TheBarePantryShow  9 лет назад +2

      Australians can understand it too Bryce.

    • @TheBarePantryShow
      @TheBarePantryShow  9 лет назад +2

      Bryce C Belizean Creole is made of more of old time British words that we have changed the pronunciation on. For example instead of saying "The hood of the car, we say "Bannit" which is the Creole for the British word "Bonnet." We don't speak broken down French or Patois, we speak broken down English. So sometimes it will sound like just an accent, but it is officially a language and no longer just a dialect because it can be also be written.

    • @Ajm833
      @Ajm833 6 лет назад +1

      The Bare Pantry Show its not broken English. Unno for example is a word that is from the Akan language from Ghana, so is the word nyam. And there are others.

    • @tajaun3467
      @tajaun3467 4 года назад

      @@TheBarePantryShow A language doesn't have to be written at all. Around a half of the world's languages today are only spoken with no script. That being said Belizean Kriol was officially a language before being written.

      Tajaun when I was kid growing in Belize, Creole was called dialect. It was long after I moved to America that it was then called a language. Back then we we’re not allowed to speak it in school.

      +Martn Moreno So cool I didn't know there were Creole speaking people in Columbia. The only creole speaking group that I knew of from within Latin America was people from the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua like in Municipalities such as Bluefields. But like you mentioned some of the slaves that had been brought to Jamaica were not only later migrated to Belize but were also to other parts of Central and South America, hence that explains the settlement and remnants of the language and cultures in these other regions like San Andres. I'm from Belize btw.

    • @martnmoreno7
      @martnmoreno7 2 года назад

      Since we are answering every 3 years let me go ahead 🤣 kidding! Yeah my dad is actually from corn island Nicaragua and they speake creole too, but there's also bocas del Toro in panama and puerto Limon Costarica. We all speak the same kriol! Of course I'm talking about an English based creole not french. By the way Jamaican patois and our creole are mutually intelligible but they are not as close as the belizean and the ones I mentioned above. Bcs we talk the same thing. Patwa da wan distant relative but ih no same. Btw I think di yaadie dem wuda call it fry dumpling.

      Mark Linton think of it as how our ancestors interpreted English and taught themselves. They were West African for the most part. So all the islands sound similar to an untrained ear. Because to me I can tell a Bajan from a Guyanese to a Grenadian or Jamaican. And my sing song Trini accent is quite distinct. West Indian Creole sounds similar Krilo in Sierra Leon sounds similar as well.

      A lot of people put some type of fat in their fry jack. This is my husband Joe's recipe and his rule is that "it's already gonna be fried, so why put more fat in the dough." Plus it stays together better when there is no fat in the dough.

    This is similar to Native American fry bread. We make Indian Tacos on it, or like you were saying, powdered sugar and butter.... or jelly :) I understood everything you said. I could never speak it, but I was practically adopted by your mom when me and Tracy were in high school. lol

    I never even thought of this as a different language. My family's from Belize city, I'm first generation born in U.S. this is all I heard growing up.

      Hi Delecia, Yes Creole is a different language. Even the spelling of the words are different. For instance the word "language" would be spelled "langwij" My kids were born here in America too and they all understand us, but only my daughter speaks Creole. Incidentally Creole use to be considered as a dialect rather than a a language. The reason being you couldn't write it or read it. That has now changed so yeah, now it's a full blown language. :)
