People are so interest revenue or net. Even if she made 100k profit it’s incredible from a business with just ads and a bit of work , there is no overhead , no rent , no inventory ,no employees. So happy for her 👏

@@ghosttube6525 We don't share our stores because 1000's of people looking at our shops but not buying would kill our conversion rates. You can take a look at stores on Etsy and do the research for yourself and you'll find tons and tons and tons of shops that are making full time incomes! You don't have to take our words for it, we are just here because we want to share our experience and help other people on their journeys

Thank you two for talking about the mindest and the struggles in getting started. Most of what I hear are success-only stories that don't share enough about the mindest behind the work. This video is very inspiring. Thank your Cassiy and Natalie for sharing it with us! Somewhere in this video you mentioned that you can compound on the effort you put in the beginning on a listing. Can you please share some numbers around this point? For example, what % of your listings were making sales after the 1st year, 2nd year and so on from the time you listed?

Ahh sorry I forgot about my mini course when canva made that change, yes I’ll have to update it!
Here’s how to do it now though!
1. Create a design
2. Import a file (at the bottom where the add an image button used to be)
3. Click the image you want to add
4. Click "use in a new design"
5. Select "Custom size" at the top
6. It should auto populate the size and you just click "create new design"
Great Etsy conversation for beginners
This is a great interview! My biggest thing with POD is profitability. I know the sales are huge but would a video with net profit. I have your profitability calculator but it can be hard to see if a $10 profit for a t-shirt or $5 profit for mug makes it worth if. I'm trying to find higher profit products but it's hard for my niche.
Our biggest roadblock is procrastination. We have a bunch of nice designs ready to know, SEO's and descriptions.... but we haven't pulled the trigger on opening our shop. I think a bit of analysis paralysis is at play with my wife and I in our new business venture.
You aren't alone, I head comments like these all day everyday! Trust me it's never going to feel like the right time or that you have it all figured out enough. Just do yourself a favor and open your shop today. Just don't overthink it and just get it started. It might take you a few days to get the financial verification done, then you might get suspended for 2 weeks, so get it done and over with now before you are ready to dive all the way in. Then when you are ready, you are just that much closer! But I say just open it and make your first listing! You'll never learn better than by actually doing it while you learn!

Hi Cassidy!! I ❤ your videos! Very clear cut and straight to the point. I do have a question however. I’ve had my online store (personal website) for about a year now and looking to expand. I recently saw your tutorial on Etsy but recently I’ve heard about of Etsy sellers having their accounts on Etsy Reserve and money being withheld from them. I wanted to know has that ever happened to you and do you still think Etsy is a good place to start? Thank you for your time.
Yes new sellers after you get your first sale will get put on reserve for 90 days, but after that it'll be over. I still think it's super worth it because of all of the free organic traffic! It's just a different game. You need to find where the demand already is on Etsy, so what people are already searching for and then figure out how to add value to get them to buy yours instead! I like to do this by making group shirts or combining different niches.

I’ve been watching your RUclips channel Cassie thank you for the info. I am a little confused with the bundle group selling. I need to find one of your videos that explains how to do this. I just been doing one item at a time so I’m very interested in doing it as a bundle.
Cassiy you by far give the most comprehensive advice on RUclips! I am just starting my Etsy POD journey and I’m so confused about how to price my listings if I ship internationally. I live in Australia and I would like to target US, UK, Europe, Canada and Aus. I get that I can set printify to manual and change the print provider to the relevant country (Monster Digital for US, Printbar for Aus etc) but how do I work out a listing price on Etsy that would be competitive yet also profitable for all countries? I’m so confused! And advice or video would be greatly appreciated xx

Hi Cassiy, thank you for all the value that you pack into your videos. I have one question, I was setting up my store and after I completed my billing information, its says that my account has been suspended and that I will receive an email from Etsy on how to get my account unsuspended. I haven't received any email and I cannot seem to find any support email address to escalate this matter. Do you perhaps have any advice on how to sort this out?
Hi Cassiy, I was wondering how you organize/name all of your files. I'm trying to find a system that works and was just wondering if you have any good advice about that specifically. Between CF downloads, blank mockups, size and color charts, logo, etc, I'm not sure the best way to go about it. I'm guessing it's probably beneficial to have remote storage like Dropbox, Google, or the Cloud.
Would it be possible to hear the profit numbers in these videos? Revenue is great but I wanna hear how much people are actually making and keeping after costs are deducted.

Such an inspiring video - thanks so much! Good to know that Natalie is achieving success on Etsy, even in 2022/2023 - there's hope for us all! Just one question though regarding ads - I know you've said in the past that ads add gasoline on the fire for those items already selling, which is also the approach that Natalie has taken. However, in your interview with Stephen Chin, he advises to take out ads straight away in order to build rank, even for items that haven't sold. Do you think it's really down to personal preference and that both approaches work just as well?
I think that what Natalie did makes sense here, she tried things, found what worked for her, then advertised those. Now she was confident on what she was making would also sell because now she understands what styles work for her. So now she advertises listings right when she posts them to rank them faster, but this works because she has already done the research and has proven design styles and listing layouts that convert well.
I do think that advertising right when you list things will get you more sales! But If you are just getting started with Etsy print on demand, then you might not yet understand what sells well. You may lose some money on ads trying to figure it out, but the benefit of that, is you will find your winners and losers much faster because of running ads! Because you get immediate feedback on your designs instead of it taking weeks to see if people will click and buy your listings.
So I say go for it and run ads right away! Just know that it is an investment into your business and you need to read the data that the ads give you. If no one is clicking on your ads, then you need to work on your designs, your main image photo and your price. If you people are clicking but you aren't getting any sales, then you have a conversion issue. Then you need to look at your secondary photos, your shipping time and your variations offered.

Can you talk about sharing your Etsy store on social media/ youtube vs. keeping those details private? What makes sense in terms of bringing awareness? I slowly started sharing mine, but it doesn't seem like those with your level of success do. And thank you for all your inspiration and helpful tips!!!
I think sharing your store on Social Media and trying to build a following for your store is a good idea. Sharing with friends is nice but I wouldn't do it all the time since they may or may not be your real target audience for the products. I tend to sell very niche items like specific teachers or nurses and I don't always know people that are in those professions.
The reason I don't share my shop here on YT is because my items again are very niche and people on YT are trying to start their own business, not buy my random nurse and teacher shirts. So they would just be looking for inspiration, not buying. Then I would have 1000's of people looking, clicking and not buying, which would ruin all of my conversion rates. Hope that makes sense!

Great video again,Cassiy! I have a question- I have plans for opening up a niche POD store selling apparel only to Dog owners. There are close to 150+ dog breeds in U.S alone. I checked out on Etsy and do see a LOT of stores selling apparel for dog lovers to the point that it looks like the dog owners niche is saturated not only on Etsy but other POD platforms like redbubble, teepublic and Zazzle as well. In this case, I was wondering if starting a store selling t-shirts and sweatshirts only to dog owners is a good idea currently? Or should I rather open a dog lovers store and sell all sorts of POD products like t-shirts, mugs, blankets, metal wall signs, phone cases,tote bags and other POD products catered to various dog breeds in this store? I have chosen dog lovers niche because of the large customer base and also the fact that I just LOVE dogs! I would really appreciate your response🙏❤️
So I haven’t personally researched this myself but the steps to any successful business is doing a good market analysis! Go try to find 10 stores on Etsy that sell only dog stuff, that have started in the last 1-3 years. See how much money you make profit per item, then look and see how much profit you would have made as one of those stores with their amount of sales. If there are quite a few that would have made you your own profit goals, then I think it’s worth going into!
This is also a good practice to get a feel for the types of items to sell, types of pictures to use, pricing that does well etc.

Cassiy, thank you for this interview! I finally had my first sale yesterday! however, I have'nt been able to put the other yet cause the client paid with a (QR CODE) and ETSY says "Please note that this message is automatic, subsequent messages come directly from the buyer. The order will appear in your personal account after the money has been received", what that means???? I dont' get it.
Etsy has to get the money from the customer’s credit card before they can pay you.
How do you make good designs at such a fast pace? That’s about 6 per day in 2022

Isn't it funny how Kassie said ...you don't need to spend any more then $10 a day on ads...and yet with that you don't get these results. It takes A LOT of money to make money! TO do the POD...you have to have a lot of money to pay the print company before you get paid by the customers.
I didn't spend much money on ads at all to get started and you don't HAVE to either, but if you want this kind of results, then it just speeds up the process for you! You also after the first 90 days, get paid by Etsy the next day so it's not like you need tons of money. Just a little bit at first and then as you slowly grow your business, you can reinvest that and always have enough on hand to fulfill your orders. I always use credit cards as well so that I only pay my orders off 1x/month.

@@CassiyJohnson My friend spent $3 a day for one week before Mothers Day and got 7 sales at $45 each for her handcrafted mugs and it definately was worth it for her. Then she spent only $1 a day for 4 weeks before Fathers Day and it also brought in sales! I think it's easy to spend more when you make more. Thanks Cassie!
Question: was that all in the States, or did she get some Overseas action?
My biggest fear of print on demand is the upfront cost for the product before you get paid. I don't have alot of disposable income to pay things up front
There isn't too much upfront costs. BUT, you have to buy the item before the POD company makes it. And you get paid after the item has been made and shipped.
You would need a credit card to put these initial charges on.

And Etsy charges a 20 cent fee per listing.

Christina from the channel Cuonline is from Canada actually! I don't know if she makes much content about it but I'm sure she would be a great resource for you!
Here is a little advice she gave me in general for another student of mine that lives in Canada
1. For Canadians I recommend getting a credit card that has 0% foreign transaction fees- Brim or Scotiabank visa passport are 2 popular ones
2. I keep my prices on my Etsy store in CAD and I view printify in CAD. This way its easy for me to use google sheets to calculate the price+shipping+margin to set my CAD price. USA sellers will see prices in USD anyway as Etsy automatically converts it based on where they are viewing.
3. Google is my saviour when I am confused on USD pricing, I just google "15CAD to USD" whenever needed for a quick conversion
4. Then to calculate profits I'll usually use this google method to get my general profit, but you can also just do your profit from Etsy minus the charge on your credit card for exact profit down to the cent.
You can do research in CAD to see what your competitors are pricing in the CAD conversion, will help you with pricing your products better :)
@@CassiyJohnson Thank you so much. I will check on her. My concern is about the print provider. The 3 options from Canada are not so good when we compare the prices and shipping. The 'good" idea is to start selling just to the USA. But it's sad, I wish I could have some space here.
@@giselekague My best suggestion to you would be to use US print providers, ship to both the US and Canada but charge $5 more for Canada shipping to cover the increase in cost for shipping. You can set different shipping prices for where people are from. This way you get most of your sales from the US anyways so it makes it simple but then you are still offering items to Canada as well!

Hey Cassiy I just want to know can you start up an Etsy store with no capital... And then pay when you generate capital?
No you really need a little bit of capital. I’d say even $100 would be fine. There are some things you need like design software, but I have a link for 30 days free of Canva in my description when you’re ready. You also need some mock-ups for your images, listings cost .20 each and you need to pay for the item people order, and then Etsy pays you back. I’d go watch the video on my channel that says “start up costs” and it’ll explain everything in more detail!

Hi! So I have a question! I’m a stay at home mama to four littles. I have considered doing pod for a side income. But do you think it would be feasible with little kids under tow? Also another concern of mine is not being able to see the finished product. Do you have a lot of people complain about product issues? Thanks for any help!
How you are feeling makes perfect sense and you are not alone! I have two really good friends who have been able to build their POD businesses and do it all with two littles at home, I know 4 is a lot more than 2 but I think you could do it! Maybe not as fast as you might want because your time is limited, but if you got started now and grow it slowly, eventually you'll have more time for it and by then you'll be rocking and rolling!

I just started. Can you tell me how long it takes to get sales?
It's different for everyone, you could get your first sale the first day or it could take you a month. That's the typical amount of time range I see people have, but the more listings you make, new things you try and better research you do, then the faster those sales will come!
What would you consider a daily budget for a beginner store, with maybe 100 + designs? Realistically, $300 a day is an outrageous and unaffordable amount. What daily sales figure would support $300 a day in ads?
If I'm doing the math correctly, it seems she paid about $63k in ad cost from Jan to July, which is a fairly small percentage (about 12.6) of the almost $500k in sales she made during the same time period. So maybe use that as a guide? Once you start making money, look at setting up your ads to spend no more than 12% or so of what you're consistently making and work your way up. Just a guess on my part, best do your own research.
I'm using Printify but my problem is sizing on shirts. What size for a left chest logo, a one line sentence across the chest area and a design on the front side of shirt? Thanks
I think the design is optimized for a large tshirt. So you can see the measurements on your design when youre putting it on the shirt, you know the screen where you pick your shirt colors. Im not sure. Just another designer here. Hope i could help
I am new to this but I did order samples to help me figure this out. I usually do a max width of 5-6 inches for a pocket design. I place the design in the upper right corner of the design area in Printify. Then I look at several of the preview pics and may tweak the size or placement a little depending on how it looks.
For a large design across the front, I usually do a max width of 10-12 inches. And then I'll preview it and may tweak it.
For a center round design, I usually end up around 8-10 inches wide.
When I'm designing in Canva, I'm using a size of 4500 pixels wide x 5400 long. And I make my design to the full size, even if it's just going to be a pocket design. When I bring the design into Printify, I can make it whatever size I need.
I hope this helps. There's a lot to figure put in the beginning and I'm still working on it.
