Thanks for the excellent video. I'm so sorry for the people affected. Port Maria has always been prone to flooding and apparently nothing has been done over the decades to lessen the affect on the people.
One of the worse floods was in 1955. The other devastating flood was from the sea surge from Hurricane Alan in the early 80s which had the highest recorded wind speed in history. It did not come ashore but churned for many hours sending the sea literally through the town and affecting the area around Galina. Port Maria was a fairly prosperous town then but it has fallen on hard times.
Annette Johnson, you are absolutely right, I was a little girl living in Port Maria with my family. My mom worked at the hospital in the 50’s. I remember this quite vividly the River washed through our house and thank God my Dad was there with the help of the neighbors saved our lives. We have to pray for our Island nation and make and make an effort to help our people. I intend to.
It's so ironic that I live so near to port maria in Highgate and it was on the news i saw the flooding , my prayers goes out for the persons affected so near yet so far , God is still in control all I know

Amazing footage. My family was flooded out. I was on facetime as the garden started to take on water and within 10 min it was throughout the whole house and raising. I felt awful for them all and everyone else who got effected. 😔

Thanks so much for this. My family is next door in Oracabessa; but my step-daughters Christian high school in Port Maria was right there, flooded in the flood zone. Was it only this portion of St Mary that got hit? The heavy rains in the hills where Oracabessa is put mud in my family’s little patio as well.

Its the first time that I watch a flood in Jamaica and it remembers me the floods in countries like Honduras, Nicaragua or Guatemala but floods in these countries tend to be harder than the Jamaica´s ones because in those central American countries some rivers are larger and wider than the Jamaica´s ones.
My heart goes out to everyone 🥺I hope the government help put some work in, so next time nothing gets flood away. I feel so sad right now, but some of the videos were funny as hell🤣.

6:30 that morning I woke to get me daughter ready for school. She goes to the port maria high school she's in first form.. something say there's going to be no school became it's going to flood.😭..I got dress my daughter too..7:30 again it say no school flooding..I went out to my porch and look down into the bay became I'm living on the hill about sea level.. I couldn't see the town it was dark from the pouring rain.. so I told my daughter no school. She ask why I told her it's going to flood in port maria. She was so so mad with me when I say no school . I had to get mad at her to convince her it's going to flood. I went back in undress went to bed she was crying because it's her first time going to school in Jamaica we just move home..8:00 clock I went out on the porch looking to see if it's flooding as I was told ., Nothing then I went back to bed. 8:30 I hear go look !. That's when I say the water rolling in on the street . I was able to call one person but when he gets to his place of business he didn't get to save much became the water was quicker then him.. my daughter was so shuck up When she saw the town flooding as I told her it would.. Then she started to get the video from school from student who was trap inside from the flooding.. 🙏 Thursday morning I was in my kitchen making breakfast I started to question myself why I was the only one knew it was going to flood became no one prepare for it no one gets to save anything.. Then I head a whisper into my ears saying.. I ONLY TIP THEIR SCALE NEXT TIME THERE WILL BE NOTHING TO SOLVAGE.. THERE SCALE ARE NOT BALANCE.. THE GOOD GOING TO SUFFER WITH THE BAD.... Business people of port maria please balance your scale.. I'm just a messenger.. I just move home after 20 year..
