Great review. I picked up one of these and didn't really understand the power of it until I watched this video. Got a whole new level of respect for the device. Thanks for taking the time to do an in depth review. 🤘
Highly informative - thank you! Identical to the M-Vave G-Tank, save for the Lekato being black and the M-Vave being bluish. Wish one could move the IR slot to the very beginning of the chain so the pedal would also work for acoustic guitar. Then the IR would come first (representing the „natural“ sound being targeted for any given pickup/guitar combo), followed by all the other effects, obviously with the amps and cabs switched off. If they could make this possible in the app, then the pedal would be highly attractive for acoustic players, too, and especially for those of us (like myself) who play both.
thanks for the review and the walk thorugh on the functions. I bought one for Black Friday/Cyber monday price of $63.99 which to me was a no brainer. I’m consdering getting the Tank-B as well. Great alternative to a massive pedal board, and an alternative to amp Plugins when recording. Giving me choices for live and recording.
I've watched a half-dozen or so videos about this thing. Yours is by far the best. Mine's on the way. It will certainly make my recording efforts a lot easier, and better. The only thing, well two things, I don't love is that the modulation function is after distortion. I love phasers, but there's nothing worse than a phaser post-distortion. The other thing, I wish it had an effects loop. But that's a minor thing since I would want most effects before the unit anyway.
I think it's because they've grouped all the modulation effects together. I agree that the phaser would come before but it's very common for the chorus and flanger to come after. For $80, I'm not sure you can expect more. Even the $550 Nano Cortex does not have an effects loop.
if that's what you're after, you can get the ann blackbox by mvave (they also have their tank g) and it's practically the same as the tang g but you can change the order of the effects. there's fewer buttons though so you need a midi controller if you're planning to play live and from what i can tell, the blackbox likes to be used more like something at home rather than live so it's best not to stomp it
You don't have to be ashamed folks. It's good. At the very least, it's definitely worth $80. The BT connectivity and ease of use is unparalleled and all my other gear is name brand. So good once you tweak it and run it through a power amp properly with maybe a subwoofer
Hi, thanks for this video... this sounds fantastic. Did you make any changes to this little device, like add a different IR or is everything stock? I'm curious, because it just sounds too good (IMO).
I am using custom IRs that are part of the free pack from Amalgam Captures. I go through how to install them in the video. The ability to use whatever IRs you want really help improve the tones you can get.
I've own 2 products from them (tank-g and blackbox). Change to a 3rd party IR and ANN amp profile, results are far superior from the stock one. idk probably they're making the cheapest amp capture/profiler on the planet.
Nice review, thanks. BTW, do you know what the 'loopback' switch is for? Is there a hardware loopback or is that just in the software. Did you try the Bluetooth feature?
I think the loopback switch controls whether the device is also sending signal back to the computer via USB. So you can control via the app and get the usb output back to record direct. I did not try the bluetooth feature.
@@davlavmusic7070 I see the software download appears to be MAC only. I've also noticed that at least one of the clone TANK pedals has an Android app. Thanks again for the review.
I got mine yesterday. I've been playing it through an amp. It doesn't seem to work very well for that. It's super bright and thin. I knocked the treble on the amp back to half what I would normally use, and it's still too bright. The clean settings on the Tank-G work better. I haven't had time to really get into that much yet. But is there any sort of global tone control accessible through the software to roll back some of that treble and otherwise beef it up? It sounds way tiny compared to my usual setup. And I have the treble on the Tank-G rolled all the way down. I'm playing the presets and in the live mode. Same issue with both.

Thanks for the nice review. cool, calm & collected ...without going into endless shredding noodling.
Perfect! 👍👍👍Thank you very much for this very good explanation. Its the best Video about the Lekato Tank G in the You Tube Universe. 😅
Glad it was helpful!

This device might have the best default tones in the effect processing history

@@davlavmusic7070 Yeah, except for the phaser it's not a big deal. I generally don't use modulation effects with distortion anyway.

@@floatinsardines8104 Interesting. I'll look into it. Thanks.

What is right about this video? No silly background blurring, no over the top audio redubbing oh and NO BACKGROUND blur ( I can't stand it anymore).
Pretty cool Thanks!

Great review... Will the USB "charging" port power the unit for use if it's dead or charging?
I think so, but honestly I've never ran the battery down to empty.
@@davlavmusic7070 Thank you. Just ordered one and I'll post the results for anyone who may have the same question.

Whats a difference between m-vave and lekato?
Not sure. It does look like they make basically the same thing. Maybe it's all the same company?
