I could've sworn I saw this once. I watched the show a lot in syndication. Once in the early 80's, once around 1986, & again on Sci Fi in 98 or so. Maybe I just saw a clip on RUclips .
when this came out in 1975 I was only 11 years old and I swore I remember in the movie her Mother showed her how to do the original spin I think that is lost footage too but I was young and could have nixed it up anyway if that could be found too OMG how cool would that be, Thanks again for sharing this it's amazing !
The scene you're thinking of is from the episode, "The Feminum Mystique, Part 1," in which Diana's little sister Drusilla attempts to spin into Wonder Girl and fails. She then remembers in a flashback how their mother showed Diana how to spin.
@@sambartolotta9541 Logan is right. I just watched the pilot tv movie and Diana was just given the costume. There was no spin. The first spin is in the hospital with Diana posing as a nurse when she finds out that Steve left. She does spin in the 2nd season opener now set 35 years later in present day 1977. The only time you see Diana's mother teaching the spin is when Wonder Girl is remembering.
Terrific work in confirming the 'lost' footage. I applaud your dedication! I posted the first comment about the missing 'new, original' logo and the bullet deflecting bit as a trivia entry on IMDB many, many years ago. And I knew it to be true because I recorded the 90 minute movie the very first time it was aired as a syndicated special, which happened almost immediately after the original series ceased production. I still have the Betamax tape, too, though I haven't been able to watch it (no machine) since 1984. One extra note here is that the intact original titles, complete with the one-time only 'new, original' logo and the bullet deflecting, was also left as is for the initial syndicated run of the show. Again, I have vhs copies of my local station airing the pilot movie, usually at the start of the series rerun cycle, but sometimes as a standalone airing. The first time I noticed the alteration was when the official home video vhs cassettes were released, as I recall. And of course, the credits were changed to match all the ABC episodes when the dvd was produced. But I, like most fans, would love to have it restored for any future release. And I really would love them to include the brief teasers that used to air before many of the ABC shows, and the first several CBS shows as well. They were short, but they were a lot of fun, and they added some punch to the opening credits in general.
@@shelvarichard1502 I recorded every episode when the show went into syndication, but only the pilot 90 minute movie has the "new, original" graphic (& bullet deflecting) in the opening titles. While I've read accounts that the Baroness & Fausta episodes used the same title as the pilot movie, this may only have been in tv guide listings or promotional materials, as I doubt the production company altered the opening credits just for those two early episodes after the fact. Every other show used whatever title sequence it was originally broadcast with during the initial repeats. Only the home video versions started to take shortcuts, making substitutions & mistakes, due, I'm sure, to laziness & corner cutting on the part of the manufacturers.
I believe the vocals on the theme song are different on the original pilot movie as well, same words and singers, just a different take. You can hear differences, especially after the key change before the second verse.
The difference you're remembering is called a "double vocal" - it can be heard under the end credits of "Baroness" and under the opening credits to "Fausta." It also appears as a bonus track on the official soundtrack release.
I didn't know that was the original wonder woman title free animation opening all I know is I just seen that version thank you for finding it and showing it to everyone else that was most appreciated of you thank you
Hey I stumbled on this by accident! Paul K. Bisson was a college classmate of mine! We worked on Little Shop of Horrors at Salem State College, Salem Mass, 1990. Paul was the voice of the plant and did an amazing job! He also appears on the DVD extras for the Six Million Dollar Man! Check it out!
I saw the TV movie back in 1975 when it originally aired, so I already knew the main titles had been altered in the VHS release, and later on the DVD release - and yes, you're right, they changed the title sequence on the movie to match the opening when it went to series. I hate to tell you this, but the main title sequence isn't the only thing they changed in the movie when they finally released it onto home video.
@Daniel Stasik I'll tell you one thing which you can actually check for yourself if you have all the episodes. During the bank robbery scene in the re-edited pilot, you see Wonder Woman moving behind the bank robbers car and put her hands on it, but you don't actually see her lifting it off the ground. Instead, the camera shot immediately cuts to the driver's side of the car as the startled driver realizes that the car is rising - then the camera shot cuts back to Wonder Woman already holding the back of the car in mid-air. In the original movie version you see Wonder Woman move behind the car and physically lift it up off the ground from behind. To check this for yourself, and compare how it was re-edited, go to the episode "Fausta: The Nazi Wonder Woman". In the beginning of that episode you see Fausta Grables showing film footage on Wonder Woman to her superiors. The film footage is actually from the original televised movie and they show Wonder Woman physically lifting the car off the ground from behind - and not the mid-air shot that you commonly see in the re-edited pilot release. It's just one of many re-edits/cuts they did with the pilot version, but it's really the only example I can give you where there's any physical evidence to prove it. Go check it out for yourself and you'll see exactly what I mean.
Trev L Sony did the same with the opening credits of the first two seasons of "Bewitched." The original intro had Samantha as a white cat, the tiles on the kitchen floor were large and white and the stove stood alone. This has been replaced with a decolorized intro used during Seasons 3-5. To make matters worse, Sony also released a colorized version of the first two seasons of Bewitched and colorized the decolorized intro.
@Libertu Bey I find it absolutely annoying when these companies release DVD box sets and state somewhere on the packaging that the episodes are presented in their "original and unedited transmitted format". This is barely ever the case and making that sort of claim amounts to nothing more than fraud.
Unfortunately this 'physical evidence' is circumstantial. All it proves is that they shot more than one take of Lynda lifting the car - which is no surprise. They used one for the 75 movie and another for "Fausta."
ruclips.net/video/e9dA4uZCAjk/видео.html This is what you show in this video. I knew I'd seen it before. I thought it aired on tv. I was thinking maybe the first time it went into syndication. 1981 maybe. I watched the show a lot then. My head hurts now. I knew the bullet sequence existed but honestly no idea when I first saw it.
From what I've read over the years, the pilot movie and the TV show had different syndication packages, and were considered separate entities. It was not uncommon for the pilot movie to show up as a stand-alone film on TV throughout the 80s and early 90s, retaining its original opening sequence. When its syndication rights expired, Warner Brothers integrated it with the TV show, and would now only show it as part of the series. It was at this time they decided to change the opening intro to match that of the series, with the original sequence no where to be found on any of the VHS or DVD releases.
So it's possible I saw the bullet scene years ago. This would've been not too long after the show finished it's run on CBS. I watched it everyday I came home from grade school. I'm thinking 1980 - 1982. I remembered thinking the intro changed. When I first got a vcr around 1986 I recorded the show but I don't think I noticed any changes in the credits. I don't think I ever saw the bullet intro again other than during early syndication. I finally found a video of it on RUclips years ago. Just happy to know I'm not completely crazy!!
And what about the second season pilot movie the return of wonder woman they also had a bullets deflecting scene in the animation for that too! And yet they don't ever show that 1 either! I remember that when warner brothers release these on VHS for the 1st time and that was actually a scene from the pilot movie for the return of wonder woman they actually had a bullets deflecting animation in the pilot intro for the second season! I remember that explicitly because after I see it I was like that's very new to me I've never seen that 1 before! So where did that scene go when released to DVD??
I remember the bullets panel and I believe it should be added back as a fan I would love to see it added back
Im so surprised this wasnt on the bluray at all .
I could've sworn I saw this once. I watched the show a lot in syndication. Once in the early 80's, once around 1986, & again on Sci Fi in 98 or so. Maybe I just saw a clip on RUclips .
I’m positive I recall seeing this animation when it was aired in the UK in the 80s. But I could just be misremembering- great find guys!!

Yes I know that episode what I was talking about was what I thought I remembered from the original movie with Cloris leachman as her Mother
Sam Bartolotta well that was never shot nor existed so your wrong

Did Baroness and Fausta use this opening

I didn't throw out the VHS tape for that reason alone because of that 1 scene that I don't see anywhere else!
