I've had the honor of creating the music and sound effects for the high-speed platformer Rollin' Rascal, and as its Kickstarter campaign begins February 6, I'd like to share some of the music I've made! This is Buccaneer's Beach, an action-packed tropical locale with multiple paths to explore and plenty of enemies to smash. Maintaining high speeds will earn you an extra musical layer to cheer you on!

Oh my goodness! Scruffy, your work is immaculate!!
Keep up the amazing work!
the wave being the midi visualization is really creative ngl. keep cooking Scruffy!!
Man the way you visualize music is second to none
Nobokono?
Oh! you're working for rascal that is really nice, I was really interested in it and will probably back it, good luck with it!
OHHH YOU'RE DOINGG SOME OF THE MUSIC??
The musical layering of this game is gonna be immaculate.
I knew these guys had a wonderful team ever since their SAGE demo a couple years back, but never would have thought they'd have good taste enough to get you onboard too! Wonderful work, Scruffy!
I'm glad to see you working on this project!
MAN, I've been following Rolling Rascal for a while, and seeing that you're making the music for it just makes me even more excited. I think this game is absolutely gonna rock.
Gotta say, I have not been great at the demo, but sing the music the entire time I’m messing up. Amazing work as always! I even got the demo because I saw the music on your channel first!
The visuals are very clean, but aside from that the songs vibes are immaculate!! Very beachy i feel like i can visualize the game and I haven't even seen it yet!!
The mixing is actually top notch. GOD TIER work
always a pleasure to hear your work in projects I'm interested in!
SO GOOD! This fills the De Blob shaped hole in my heart
I had no clue that you were the one composing for rollin rascal, that is genuinly awsome!!!
awesome visualizerr!
Ive been keeping my eye on rolling rascal now and to find out you’ve been doing the music!? That is just the cherry on top‼️
Not only is the song a banger but the visualizer is also stunning!!!
So cool to see you involved with this project!
This is such a jam. thanks, Scruffy!
BABE WAKE UP NEW SCRUFFY VID JUST DROPPED ‼️‼️
I have played the level so much that this song is edged in my mind
I like that you made the music dynamic based on the state of rascal (just like pikmin :)
Hell yea, wonderful stuff. Loving those visuals
when i first saw the title i thought this was a remix of the pac-man world theme. this track still sounds really good, feels like a first zone in a sonic game, or a mushroom cup track in a mario kart game.
Such great news to hear that you're working on the game.
The visualizer gives me frudigo aero (or however you spell it) vibes and I love it UwU👌
I really hope you share the music that’s used for the demo trailer, too. It’s so damn good.
I've been listening to this one non-stop for hours! Can't wait to try the game and see what else you've made for it!
I listened to this track as a first impression for the game since I couldn’t download it in time for me to leave to school, and honestly, this song slaps hard!
It really sounds like it’s trying to be Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros. combined, and it lands that mark perfectly in my opinion.
Hell, the level you hear this theme in is a wonder in of it’s self, but that’s a whole different topic.
Long story short, really good demo with kickass music! I genuinely can’t wait for the full game to come out by 2026.
I'm vibing.
Oh my goddess, I love this so much. It sounds so free, good job on this one Scruffy! I can't wait to hear the full soundtrack for this game.
Very chill to listen to. Was goofing around in the demo (15mins) and it doesn’t get stale.
Love it!
This video has insanely cool visuals, love it!
THIS SOUNDS SO FRESH!!!!
Great sounds, feels a lot like Masayoshi Takanaka with the guitar
YEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
As soon as I saw your name on the kickstarter page, I knew this was going to be a great game. Consider my marbles lost!
visualizer SOO sick! also love that half the time youre just using stock logic VSTs😮👏
Wow! What a mic drop moment
This is so so hype!!
oh man, what a jam!!!
I DID NOT KNOW UR DOING THE MUSIC FOR ROLLING RASCAL!!
U DID A GREAT JOB!!
Ah man, I thought this was an arrangement of Buccaneer Beach from Pac-Man World. This sounds amazing
Very nice!
YOOOOOO KINDA HYPE
Nice
Just a really nice song :)
SCRUFFFFYYYYYYYYY
this sounds really good lmaoooooo
go Scruffy go!!
This is something I've really been missing in recent Sonic games and Sonic-like indie games: Beachy stages with really memorable guitar tracks with happier melodies. This brings me back to my favorite Sonic locales like Emerald Coast, Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace, and even Wave Ocean. Almost began to seem like a lost art
If there's anything I think could be improved, is perhaps a little more emphasis on the percussion - it's really good but seems to get kinda buried by everything else
Backed this on the campaign's first day, hugely looking forward to the full game
Remind me of video killed the radio star, and sonic
this sounds like a mix of sonic adventure and sonic lost world music
Sounds like mario kart 8. Keep it up!
No wayyyy
YOU.
tbh this pretty good but i do kinda prefer screwstaches original theme, has a lot of energy and oomph to it. but this is till pretty good
Hi
Damnit I thought this was Pac-Man World’s opening level until I saw the plural, oh well maybe next time.
promo sm
haha music.
First
I thought it was Pac-Man for a second
this has a solid melody and general production direction, but it needs a lot more oompth imo. those drums are way too weak atm.
I was kinda thinking that too; I'd love a bit more emphasis on the percussion. Other than that though, this is melodically far closer to what I want to hear in a speedy platformer than most recent Sonic-likes
The lead on this and some of the others is... a bit grating and kinda hurts my ears. I eventually turned the music off in the demo. The melodies and composition are pretty good, but instrumentation and mastering could use some touchups. Too much in the high end, and everythings all plucky and staccato all the time across all the tracks, some more variance would be sweet! (This is meant constructively, i backed the project and want it to be the best it can be!)
I feel like there is too much thrown at me too fast. Maybe try isolating instruments and introduce them one after the other
it's for a "high-speed" game...
