Such a deep, impactful message for our society. I've always thought in the exact same way. Back then when I was in my middle school, it was a government ran school ofcourse as I belong to a middle class family, there were approximately 1 Computer for everything 4/5 students in our Computer lab. And the teachers always seemed to neglect our education. There , the one who was good at it, the one who was enlightened with the knowledge of computers, always had the chance to use it. Forget about computers, Our whole family had only one Nokia 1600 till I was in class 9th when my grandfather bought me a smartphone. So I didn't even touch a keyboard until this year when I built my own PC. I don't know about privileges, Races or Genders, I solely think Education should always be free and equal for each and every soul on Earth, Where our Governments have been a Monumental failure. Thank You for such wonderful content, Dhruv. I wish You a Happy Bengali New Year!
Honestly, the title should be "Luck of Bill Gates" instead of "Dark side/secret of Bill Gates" because there's nothing wrong about having privileges, it just depends on luck
This is not an eye opening video it's very tough to generate salaries by 1st of every month for every employee without discrimination for company and give exceptional quality of lifestyle to its employees throughout the world. Yes even generated Dhirubhai, JRD, Ratan sir , Azim Premji those who have built exceptional business in India, unlike the singhals, Kejriwals who only focus on looting banks.
I acknowledge my privilege, I was born in a family of working parents, it gave me huge advantage. My father was an airline man, it also gave me early exposure of foreign countries. I always remember this. That is why I try to give it back to my country. My dad always told me that you are a privileged kid of the developing countries like Bangladesh. Not everybody gets the same opportunities the way you got. So try to return the debt of your country. After finishing PhD at 31, that is why I returned to Bangladesh.
I was reading about this few years back. Bill Gates was born exactly at the right place, to the right parents and in the right era. There were hundreds of other intelligent Americans who passed SAT exams almost as good as Bill Gates but they were not that lucky to be born in such special conditions. Nevertheless Bill Gates should still be given the credit. Luck matters in life and there are million of examples for that.
If you think that way you must read a little about ramanujan 🤔 luck can't buy you Lamborghini even if you are born in very rich family yes your parents can afford but its not your money 🤔 its intelligence and hardwork which can make you get lambo on your own always keep in mind
There have definitely been female / other race / poorer / other nationality Bill gates' in the world. Who have not been as successful or we do not know about. And I believe many of us are privileged and don't realise it either. Excellent video. Just like the one on nepotism. I am fed up of this nepotism debate. Just like star kids have an advantage so do many of us.
I'm so glad that someone is finally talking about this. This is also true about almost all other billionaires and famous personalities. Some had educated parents if not wealthy, some had successful surroundings if not the support of the family. It is sad to see Young people beating themselves up everyday when they fail to set the similar examples.

Dhruv should've talked about how Steve mistakenly allowed Bill Gates to visit Apple's Headquarters and how Bill Gates stole everything from Apple's Mac and he later went on to betray Steve by releasing a copy of Mac called "Windows".

So you may not understand what's going on now, or how it's gonna help you in future, but someday when you look back it'll make sense. Steve jobs said this in a speech, while he was talking about the calligraphy class he took after he dropped out of the college and how he then used that knowledge in apple computers.

This is common in india that's why smart and intelligent indians are hired by united states...sad but true . India has lot of talent and by the way as per survey people with high IQ and intelligence are unable to make money in India as jobs don't even suffice their expenses and expectations ..shame on indian system wherein it blaims the population and does nothing to give justice to intellectual indians.
Misleading video. There are many other dark side stories of Bill Gates, like how he thrashed his competition in an unethical manner and many other things like that.
I was not able to get educated....an NGO helped me study and bared my all expenses....and now i am the only educated in my whole village in 2022.....i am grateful that i got education besides the fact that my father is a labourer and mother was a maid.

Not everyone is as open minded as you are Dhruv! I liked the way how you took yourself as an example to show that you were privileged.. The real reason behind your success is not the privilege that you had but the humility that you have.. I like your simplicity! Amazing video Dhruv.. 💖

That era of Microsoft and this era (Satyajit Nadella) is totally different. I still remember my first intro with pc when i 11 years old. And that time windows 7 and Pentium 4 was so unreal. But now most of programmers change to linux community. Due to its toxic monopoly.and force to use windows 11 over any other os.
Yeah MIcrosoft windows is now trash ever since satya nadella became a ceo the company is losing market share very fast going down in the market their shares of dominance went down from 95 percent to 62 percent although still in majority Microsoft is losing its market share in Operating system market very fast.
Now, this is what I call a true Influencer... glad to have such a personality on the RUclips platform... Your insight on any topic is extraordinary.. - Big Fan
Hlo....I'm not able to understand the objective of this video....if we ll se those opportunities as privileges then through this perception every succesful person had a privilege and I don't have privilege then I can't achieve the thing I want Can't we call them extraordinary instead of counting their opportunities as privileges because it's a very broad term then everyone will keep their hands off to try something new becoz they are afraid of not being bill gates isn't it
Oh really?? Your mind looking for the negativity in bill gates for last 5 yrs bt have u ever try to know what would be the range of pros in gates.Ur conservative mind if allows, u will know what the gentleman is.
This is so stupid. The richest man in the world right now is a South African who is an immigrant. another note: weak men do make hard times. That's why the greatest country in the world, America is filled with Indian CEOs.
Two clear components of this video: 1. The systematic account of Microsoft journey - fabulous job Dhruv 2. Talking about privileges' as 'dark side' of someone's life - little disappointing, in fact your first work that disappoints. Let me elaborate, general tendency is that family privileges spoil the kids, this might have happened with Gates, but no, he managed to maneuver through the life events assuming these privileges as 'resources'. That is his metal. We all have choice - take privileges as luxury or as resources. Good luck.
Actually he is born from controversy that's why he doesn't even know about intelligence hardwork and struggle 😂 Many kids born in rich family can never become bill gates cause they think they are rich why to work hard use brain or struggle 🤔
Privilege is a dirt of human race it can't be fixed.. Men's and white men's were privileged and now to fix the problem they became the most unprivileged people. In India also the same thing to give women's equality men's are facing inequality 😅. The only solution to this problem is to change ourselves from our heart it can't be fixed by any laws or by hating eachother
No, the real problem is the crowd of followers who are blindly following them and these people are always ready to get fooled by the stardom of superfools.
Yeah its always like that. When u get success. Then you will never be able to get the idea of luck factor. I recently saw a short of Suresh Raina emphasizing on luck factor. I have been a great fan of Rohit Sharma. He was my fav player since he was in Deccan chargers. And since then I saw his bad luck in comparison with Kohli. He was not chosen in WC 2011 due to injury. After many years even though he was chose he was played below not as an opener or one down. Then He was not considered for test cricket for a very long time. While on the other hand Kohli got the third position as soon as shehwag was dropped. And then given opportunity to play in test cricket too. This is luck. But Rohit also showed that you should keep on working hard even if everything is against you. One day you will get something. That's what life is. It's the journey not the destination.

Great video. Just one thing, you also have to acknowledge that Bill gates with all his wealth has helped millions of people (gates foundation). He has tried to provide privileges to a lot of people.
While Gates has undeniably done great non-profit work in many fields, some have argued that his philanthropy benefits him monetarily or contradicts his investments in big companies, leading many to refer to him as a "philanthrocapitalist". His donations have sincerely helped save many lives, but sometimes also filled his own pocket
Amazing dhruv rathe, I am an Indian engineering CSE student I forgot that I used to like facts, economics, and logic in history. I don't know when this happened I literally started my prep for the world's second hardest exam JEE in my 7th grade and although we had our state board we were able to read social sciences and economics but only for marks. only if India had a method of choosing different subjects like Science and economics, biology and mathematics, physics, commerce and economics with maths, you said this in one of your videos. I really wish we reach there someday.

I am working in an IT company but when i talk to people from rural areas, they are not aware of softwares but they have enthusiasm. You are right awareness and accessibility are equally important.
As my father was a accountant & had computer in office i had access to computer in 2006 & knew basics. In 2016, i got smartphone & media exposure to gain more knowledge about science, tech & different culture. I have pc & laptop for more than 8 years. Because of having access to dvd, tv & computer i was more fluent & updated than other students of that time. Having very supportive parents & no discrimination. Calm environment to write poetry in both English & Bangla....
A huge factor for my success is my access to one of the best schools in my city. This was possible due to my parent's efforts to prepare me for the admission. The other part of this factor is that it was a good school run by Christian missionaries. I was given fair and high quality education, despite of my religion (I'm Muslim). I am really am grateful to the Jesuit Society for making it possible for non Christan students to get education is their fine schools. There's much more, but this on is worth sharing.
This was always a debatable topic on lunch table discussions at work. Wonderful presentation!! Appraisals is where I have noticed the privileges card being used
This is actually great news. This means that India has thousands of Bill Gates waiting to get a chance. India just needs to give them their break. Currently, India (since 2014) has become the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world and is on track to reach 100 unicorns. In other words, young, talented & passionate people are getting recognized!
I always thought while in school or college that when everyone has same resources to access, let's see who utilise the best. That's exactly you said in the last 2-3 mins that the starting point has to be same. Because everyone is battling their own battle due to the environment in which they have grown. A thought provoking video. Hats off.
@@vbp123 if Starting point is same , many will not get an unfair advantage. But just the saying , it can never be the same. As Dhruv said we should acknowledge privilege. If we have a chance we should ensure that a person get same facility. Like in my education time, i have the privilege of books, school one , many don't have it. So we can provide that if we can. So that they also get thé same opportunity. Then of course it's depend on talent and interest. And of course the boards of India , CBSE , ICSE, and state board , they create a big difference. State board students are far more behind in terms exposure

So true. I am a MBBS doctor from India. I had the opportunity to move to U.S when I was 38yrs . I had dreams of passing my U.S.M.L,E and becoming a doctor here. But unfortunatley, I got divorced within 3 years. I had to take care of my daughter who was 7 years old. So I spent many years doing ordinary menial jobs just to survive. I had no family here to help. The years just glided past . I now work as a nutritionist. But I spend many sad moments , thinking of how different life could have been if I had the help and resources at the time , to be able to study. Everything has to come together at the right time.
I'm a CA aspirant, I have completed foundation, Intermediate exams and now I'm doing Articleship. I have many privileges, one of the most important is my younger sister. Because of her I used to study without worrying about my parents and home, she took all the responsibilities to her shoulders. Took care of me like her child, she became my moral support too. But that privilege ended last Sunday as she died accidentally in a lake in front of my eyes, I don't know whether I can pass my CA final without her. Atlast I like to say please acknowledge your privileges when it is still present for you.
I can also relate with this story , I am a teacher and I have experienced this , the ones who have spouses who are doctors , army officers ( Crazy for this ) or have political backup get to become Principals in most of the schools . Nepotism , family connections are real factors for your progress than hard work .

The most important thing he utilised the privileges in a right way. Many of us have privileges, but how many people know how to use them or actually use them fully or partly! This can not be the negative side of Bil Gates.
Very true bahut se rich parents ke bacche bas apne parents ke paiso se ayyashi karte hai...yeh Bill Gates ki samjhdari hi hai jo apne parents ke resources ka theek-2 utilise kar paayi
Not all of our parents are rich enough to send us to Harvard. There are many talented Indians who got accepted into prestigious universities but couldn't afford it. As an eg: in one of Singh in USA channels video i read a comment about a guy who got accepted into University of Toronto or Waterloo (I dont remember but both come under top 100 universities) but he didn't have the money to study there. Bill Gates isn't a saint either he stopped sharing the patent of covid vaccine which could have saved many lives for profit reasons. He is just another greedy capitalist.
Such an informative, well researched video Everyone has different circumstances, starting point is not same for all ,some has to reach to the point which is the beginning for others and that is privilege
Hi Dhruv, your videos are very well thought and structured. They are stripped off ambiguities and clear facts backed data. You have almost mastered the art of communicating messages to the masses. Appreciate your time and efforts in making these videos of awareness. Note: I like your videos' outro music it has a wonderful depth and a sense of magnitude to it. What is it called?

These type of videos are actual therapy and motivation. We need more people like Dhruv who can tell it like it is in the real world. I think it's best to use whatever privilege you may have to it's max potential without thinking of getting the exact outcome as these eminent personalities. For eg, I am professional dancer only because I could go on and stick with it for long without worrying too much about finances. But I've had my own shortcomings as well. In any way, I do try my best to help others who don't come from the same background. Anyway, keep up the good work! Always have enjoyed your content for its sheer honesty.

10:19 this much difficulty women faced in our past😥😥 still some men say women are not intelligent because they cant able to fine lots of roal model in women as compare to men
This is exactly what I tell my friends when they give me lecture on hard work to college students and all. I can not tell them the privilages we had in front of my friend but to those who I really care about I always tell them find your own way because situations and capabilities of each and every person is different. Both me and my friends were effluent enough to be able to go to Bangalore and study in private institutions after completing our colleges to get our placements. Both of us were privileged enough to be able to get to know from our seniors what are the possibilities after graduation if college does not offer placements. Both of us had computers and had learnt basic C programming during our school days and our parents were able to afford to send us to such schools with such big computer labs. We never had to fight for food or study in government schools under any compulsion or financial restrictions nor we had to work with out parents for a regular income so considering all the factors one must act if you are not privileged enough it is way more difficult for you to grow compared to even a normal middle class family. This does not mean poor people must not try but rather it means you may have to think and do things differently just by copying someone or by just hard work, a poor person will not be able to go through the way I or my friends did.
Usually a fan of Dhruv's logical and rational points, this video is a bit of disappointment, especially with the clickbait title. All the points stated in the narrative seems to be validating the fact that Bill gates was able to make the best use of opportunities/advantages he got with his hard work, determination and risk taking aptitude. Clickbait title on a Dhruv Rathee video is like an annoying honk at an otherwise peaceful lake. Dhruv, you are class apart, you don't need to be the one from the masses. Have a great day! :)
God mens are trash did you understood what he said in this video Million more people must have better intelligence and have work zillion time harder then bill But bill gates got successful because he white rich man
Anyone would like to do hardwork with determination if they have such support and facilities , For example : can you or anyone start a youtube channel Without basic facilities like a well standart laptop, cellphone, 24/7 hour internet service and alot more things, obviously you can do hardwork with pure determination once you have such facilities ,getting my point?
The title is not a lie but misleading because he didn't highlight the actual bad parts of Bill Gates' character itself. It's surprising how he still managed to show him in a positive light.
A comparision video between the different way of thing of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs will be really great with the background of the Hidtory of Windows and Apple
dhruv is exactly right , i had been living in village since childhood that time i have no idea wat was going on in my life , even my sister was in 10th passed with very good marks she decided to choose math stream everyone shocked in my home , even my father told her think again but she told no will choose maths, after my sistr 11th class we moved to city and i gt admision in one of the best school and my sister top in 12 because she gets a coaching now we are in position i never thought in my life evn i never ever thought in my life i will study in another city . somehow i also felt apart from hardwork there are so many things which we ignore ,eekka dukka chorkr why dk is not like ms , i laso felt priviledge and luck aalso matter , thnaks to my papa . he decided to move on ,

You were reading Malcolm Gladwell. Weren't you?
Right
If you think that way you must read a little about ramanujan 🤔 luck can't buy you Lamborghini even if you are born in very rich family yes your parents can afford but its not your money 🤔 its intelligence and hardwork which can make you get lambo on your own always keep in mind
Bill Gates was lucky enough. His parents where at the right place at the right time too.

Let me elaborate, general tendency is that family privileges spoil the kids, this might have happened with Gates, but no, he managed to maneuver through the life events assuming these privileges as 'resources'.

While Gates has undeniably done great non-profit work in many fields, some have argued that his philanthropy benefits him monetarily or contradicts his investments in big companies, leading many to refer to him as a "philanthrocapitalist". Because of having access to dvd, tv & computer i was more fluent & updated than other students of that time. Having very supportive parents & no discrimination. A huge factor for my success is my access to one of the best schools in my city. This was possible due to my parent's efforts to prepare me for the admission. The other part of this factor is that it was a good school run by Christian missionaries. I was given fair and high quality education, despite of my religion (I'm Muslim).

God mens are trash did you understood what he said in this video
Million more people must have better intelligence and have work zillion time harder then bill
But bill gates got successful because he white rich man
i was expecting this kind of reply from someone,,.,.Totally agreed with u..
Anyone would like to do hardwork with determination if they have such support and facilities ,
For example : can you or anyone start a youtube channel Without basic facilities like a well standart laptop, cellphone, 24/7 hour internet service and alot more things, obviously you can do hardwork with pure determination once you have such facilities ,getting my point?

True they were from Wealthy families not as wealthy as today but they were definitely not from poor families they were pretty well privileged.
One of the most impactful videos .
I can relate to these privileges , not everyone one can afford to take the leaps .
Thank Dhruv for this .
As someone who's from Bangladesh and where social norms totally ignore this fact I can't express how grateful I feel seeing someone acknowledge this factor.

Come on Man ! Its USA , the land of opportunity. I guess if bill gates would have been born in India he would have been standing in queue for "sarkari naukri". Birth in USA is itself a privilege.

(i) Given any two distinct points A and B, there exists a third point C which is in between A and B.
(ii) There exist atleast three points that are not on the same line.
Do these postulates contain any undefined terms? Are these postulates consistent? Do they follow from Euclid’s postulates? Explain.
Solution:
Yes, these postulates contain undefined terms such as ‘Point and Line’. Also, these postulates are consistent because they deal with two different situations as
(i) says that given two points A and B, there is a point C lying on the line in between them. Whereas
Bro your channel is all beacuse of your hardwork and consistency, I am literally addicted to your channel .
RUclips is now available to anyone in our country. The privilege you got is of being able to study abroad (more opportunities, less competition)which is still a dream of every middle class.
Btw keep going , loved the content.🤩
I was wrong 🤔 thinking that only hardwork and focus is responsible ...
