This is a beautiful commercial. I would buy ANYTHING Misty Copeland endorsed. I agree this ad would have been much more powerful with either Misty or another woman narrating. And I had to google Under Amour to find out what they were selling. They didn't nail it with a good tag line IMHO so unless you already know what Under Armor sells you just enjoy the stunningly beautiful commercial. :-)
because only women can make poetry to be heard while looking at a female ballerina....? Because it's addressing "black people" in the art of ballet. Women are not underrepresented in ballet.
Why does it need to be a woman's voice? There's no right or wrong way to tell a story, it's a creative choice that doesn't have to be conventional. It's about the words, not about the pitch of the voice or what gender belongs to the voice.
She's NOT the first African American principal dancer . . . just the first at her particular ballet company, ABT. Stop. Done with UA and their needless race baiting.
Misty better watch it! She's about 2 seconds away from a backlash... We know she's Black, we know she's an anomaly in her field, and we also know the road wasn't easy. She's told that story 1000 times and people are going to grow weary of hearing it, so it's time to turn the focus back to her just being exceptional at her craft.
This ad is clearly more about the contents of the spoken word or her 'journey' so to speak, rather than highlighting her abilities as a ballerina, which is the actual reason for her fame.
I guess we can agree to disagree on that. The ability to be still, yet fill up such an empty space, to me, speaks loudly to her artistry. Also Saul Williams is the best.
RadioFlyer actually we will not grow weary of that story it speaks. Especially to those black girls who needs to hear it. Most of the girls hear things like ballet is for rich kids or ballet are for white girls. And most of these girls are hearing it from their own race, so it is something when we see this or hear this over and over again so then we will be reminded and and encouraged. Because truly ballet can be achieved by anyone of any race or gender and we need to see it. Her story will remain till the day she dies. But I have to say I didn't like the way the guy was saying it,and there was no music it was silly. But there is no reason to be mad at misty she didn't tell them to say that or how to say or who to say it. That is my opinion of it.
welcome to the world of "backlash outrage culture", where something amazing is a target for even higher standards. saul williams is pretty incredible, i like the dichotomy of the imagery and voice.
This woman is amaze-balls.
THIS.IS.SO.BEAUTIFUL.
This is beyond beautiful.
I go back to this video. To feel powerful. Thank you for this.

This would be more powerful of narorated by a woman. It feels too much like someone ells telling her who she is

It would've been better if it was a women reading the words
I love Misty, but hate this add
Good fucking job, Under Armour. You can't even get a woman to voice a woman's ad.
It's the voice of the poet.
Ben Amdur with all their money they couldn't find a black woman poet to tell a black woman's story... Just saying
RUclips has built in a mute button, just for you.

OK naw. Love Misty but the camera work fucks with my motion sickness feeling. I don't need to be thrown into vertigo watching a video thanks.

How is this not demonstrating that she is being exceptional at her craft?
