This video is hilarious.
The spiders in this game aren't scary to me because.
1. I know they aren't real.
2. They look cartoonish.
3. I can see them coming.
But, screw real spiders.
Hear are some reasons why they are terrifying to me.
1. The common house spiders are super fast.
2. They can grow to be bigger then a dollar coin.
3. They are completely black making them impossible to see in the dark.
4. And last, they can show up anywhere and scare you like a FNAF jump-scare.
I see one in my house. He's dead on sight.

That arming distance for grenade launchers is a real thing in real-life. If it hits the ground too soon it doesn't have time to arm.

@@RaveSpecterReacts-qr5uy 75 rotations of the M79 model 40mm grenade, if I recall correctly, is the standard arming period required for the fuse in the shell to turn itself live. That's less than a second of time in the air, but the grenade's launched at quick as fuck speed so it's a good range away to be safe for the grenadier.
It’s a safety thing, imagine if you shot a grenade at the floor by accident and wipe your entire squad? That wouldn’t be good.
It’s also based on spins of the launched grenade in the air.
It’s basically a thing to prevent idiots from blowing themselves or teammates up from a misfire or something like that.
Tbh I leave the spiders alone inside for pest control. There was a decently sized one that stayed under our kitchen sink and when it's midnight I always see and greet it like a housemate. It gets free food (cockroaches), and we get a cockroach-free kitchen.
I wish I could do that. I've always said that if I could just speak to the spider I'd let them stay. Like "hey buddy, you can stay, just stay away from my PC and bedroom and no kids, ok good hunting" hehe

the Wing Divers original outfit was also considered to risqe for RUclips so he had to change that as well
The 40mm has an arming distance based on the number of rotations in flight. So yes, CoD is more accurate when it comes to grenade launchers.

In the end, remember that most if not all of Badger's friends are clowns with room temperature IQs and they'd rather have a Toyota Corolla with a Howitzer attached on it.Especially his main pals like Heavenly Father (usually pink), Geuce(usually green),Grouse(usually yellow), Skulker(usually dark pink and be extra careful for him because he kinda gives the same vibe as Lord Aethelstan),Bing(usually flesh color).

23:08 that there is a weapon that shoots a rocket upwards that then dissipates to smaller frags, anything flying in the cluster gets blasted and burnt. The alien ship behind the shot is already switching to its second phase from one shot
1: The insects are bioweapons. The aliens themselves are giant greys like in old movies.
2: EDF lore is crazy. The aliens are actually from Mars 100K years from now after humanity died from pulltion and nukes. The insects and toad people are from earth and evolved in that environment, wich is why the insects can also purify pollution and those two don’t need masks like the aliens. They traveled to the past after finding our ruins, and revealed themselves often, but they soon realized this could lead to paradoxes, so they cut all ties. However a ship crashed in India, and an alien with it. This alien would end up becoming fucking god, and the ship looks like a biblically accurate Ophanim. The aliens now try to wipe out humanity since they don’t want us to get that sweet alien tech and fuck up Mars, causing them to not exist.
How does a game that on the surface looks like a game about shooting bugs fit so much lore!!!

@RaveSpecterReacts-qr5uy the bugs are created by the Ravager forces. They mutate insects found on earth to create Cannon fodder insect swarms. The biped robots(called Hectors) are their primary actual ground troop, alongside deroys(tripods) who show up later. It's unknown if the robots are autonomous or manned, but in 5 you fight a significantly larger ravager Fleet that doesn't field the robots as they have actual elite alien infantry instead, both games are amazing in my humble opinion, but 5 improves in almost every area on 4.1
although I do remember fighting actual aliens (like the aylmao grey alien) in EDF 5, dunno if they were new there but most of the enemies were reused 1:1.

Grenades from a grenade launcher have a 3 to 10 second arming time when they leave the barrel and if it makes contact before it's armed it doesn't go boom

I have severe arachnophobia but oddly EDF doesn't bother me. Guess there is a disconnect when they are the size of buildings and I can kill them with artillery. Air Raider for the win.
I think you'd enjoy TheFatElectrician's content. He does a lot of historical stuff with a very similar rapid fire style of humor as Badger but he usually covers IRL 'Murica lore. Might even teach you some more cool facts about guns and heavy weapons that us poor civilians dont really get to play with.

My favorite tactic ive seen in science fiction is just hooking faster than light travel engined on extinction level astroids and basically warping them into your enemies orbit cause its like we have this billion dollar ship with a billion dollar orbital lazer Canon and sheilds ect and then its like for a fraction of the cost and research and development time we can just throw big rock at planet or like these giant city sized space ships and small planet like defense stations really hard and win

The correct way is to capture the spider, release it and just when it thinks it got away unscathed you stomp on it, pour gasoline on it and set it on fire as a warning for all the other spiders thinking about messing with people.

I'm afraid of spiders but I'm not sure it is to the point of actual arachnophobia but in games I can handle them most of the time. And the edf spiders aren't to bad because they just jump and don't skitter around.
And both edf 4.1 and 5 are excellent and a lot of fun. Especially if you can convince a friend or 2 to play it with you.
Oh and edf 5 has quite a number of quality of life improvements. An example would be to get gear for other classes, so if you change you won't have to start from zero.
I should really pick up one of the games, it seems so fun! And I dont hate spiders enough not to play either haha

I think I prefer Real over super, but both are great, my nostalgia for Gundam when watching on toonami probably influences that lol.

depending on the munition missiles and grenades need to get a bit of airtime before they arm, a safety feature so that the dingbat who blasted his missile into the ground has the time to run away.
mortar grenades do not have that so if that thing falls short you have about 5 seconds before you put a new crater into the ground
The answer to that question towards the end is "because then that'd be a pretty short game/movie."
1) granade launchers need range because the nade needs to spin to activate.

12:50 that's actually a safety feature of (most) rifle fired grenades. They don't have a pin to pull so they're armed by a certain number of rotations while traveling (taking advantage of the rifling in the barrel that makes it spin for flight stability). If it hit's something to early, it screws up the spin and the grenade doesn't arm.

The original makers bought the rights to it, changed its name and in their next movie Godzilla Final wars, immediately had Godzilla kill Zilla within 1 minute if I remember correctly. And had the villain call it a stupid lizard

@@RaveSpecterReacts-qr5uy depends on the genre, but usually support in a military game is basically Artillery, heavy vehicles, and air support. It’s only more arena and dungeon type games where support is meant to heal and deal lower damage. Support classes also tend to be more, call in this to clear hordes or this to really ultrakill one thing, but you don’t do it yourself. Hence you being support and not a damage class.

aparently when i was a kid like 9-10. i held a public execution for a spider infront of a bunch of my toys. a few of its legs where broke so it couldnt escape as i beheaded it with my pocket knife. this was deep south georgia everyone and their dog had a knife on hand
As a Georgia boy myself I feel that. Never know when ya would need that knife. And some spiders down there (i have moved recently to a new state) some spiders were spooky! Daddy long legs creeped me out as a kid and they were always near the water spout. though they are harms i didn't like them haha

Fair point. Then again, I live in Aus, and yes, we do tend to let the spiders outside. I do them by hand sometimes. Done so in order to not call the spider swarm that want to avenge their fallen comrade.

1. That whole point of this Earth Defense Force game that you can get to fight against Aliens during Alien Invasion. Making Aliens to wipe out humanity instantly would mean the game only last 5 minutes and making players unable to fight back.
2. The title is Earth Defense Force meaning you are the soldier of the EDF. Getting EDF destroyed in minutes would be like MC died in first episode.
Because these reasons developers and writers had to make the aliens less OP as possible for humanity to fight back at them.
oh yeah, for fictional stories and fun games and movies and books, making them realistic like that would be boring. Absolutely correct, sorry i wasn't clear. This game looks fun as hell!

M203 launchers have to travel a minimum distance in order to arm before exploding
here on Chile we have 2 kinds of spiders. The harmless and the fucking "araña de rincon" (literally means corner spider) wich is one of the most venomous spiders while also being the one that gets close to people the most so this game is fucking therapeutic. (I once found one on my bed so...yea, i hate them)
One thing aliens might not have that they could get from here is consumable and luxury goods. We might need to adapt the design of a product so it's compatible with their biology, but we can simply sell them what we can make. Imagine an entire civilization without burgers, pizza, lasagna, or plain salad.
Wood! Everyone likes wood here, and as there's far more diamonds than trees in the universe, furnished and enamelled wood furniture would surely be valuable to people stuck in metal boxes in cold vacuum all day.
Cloth! If they aren't allergic or killed by it (as in, if they're hominids similar to us) then all our textile industry could open up a pretty broad variety of new possibilities for them.
Drugs, of course. We've got everything from tobacco to datura to PCP.
All in all, there's nowhere that won't be interested in what can be grown from the soil of a planet. Every world is alien to another one, man. Why would their trees or plants be similar to ours? There's a lot we can sell just in seasoning for food, too.

Already a ton of comments about 40mm's in here so nice! But just figured I'd chime in some too, just because an underslung GL doesn't go off doesn't mean it's any less deadly. Can't remember the exact terminology and numbers because tism brain goes BRRRRRRT but I do remember learning that it you get direct impacted by a 40mm that doesn't go off the impact force can be enough to rupture your heart to the point you bleed out and die before you realize you've hit the floor.

12:40, actually most grenade launchers don't use regular grenades. They use something called the "impact grenade" which IS impact ready. So it means COD wasn't being unrealistic with the grenade launcher... it also means that most grenade launchers can also be used as a low range handheld mortar instead of a weaker rpg that uses physics more
10:18 the 5 minutes isn’t actually accurate it’s just a joke, I think it was either weeks or months in between their arrival and when half of the populace is destroyed.
Also there are two types of grenade launcher
1- HIGL (high inpact grenade launcher) a.k.a. call of duty launcher
2- ATHRGL (armed timed high rotery grenade launcher)

In response to your question on why we assume we can fight aliens when they can travel light years I just have to ask why they don’t hold the world hostage. Like if you can travel at the speed of light if they really want to they can just ram a AI manned space craft into earth at light speed and we can’t stop them.
Alright a couple months late but after some translations were done for EDF6 we understand the motives of the Ravagers however I have to warn you it is spoilers and complicated.
Ok it’s a time travel plot and all factions involved screwed themeselves into getting stuck in a time loop that escalates into a paradox. The Ravagers, renamed to Primers, are inadvertently created by humanity or at least some future Earth species, and the Primers are responsible for making the EDF when one of their ships crashes on Earth and it’s wreck is eventually discovered. After getting beaten the Earth is in ruins and even the aliens are not well off with the ants going feral and the frogs following them around for food.
In an attempt to salvage this the Primers resort to time travel with a giant ring-shaped ship which humanity manages to sabotage and send 2-5 people back in time with a better understanding of the Primers and better weaponry, however it’s revealed each iteration of EDF and it’s DLCs is the Primers, who were also the Ravagers, doing the same thing.
The machines are the technology of the Primers while their biological units are various evolved or heavily modified creatures from the future Earth or Mars and designed years in advance with information collected from multiple timeliness so they can shape the evolution of these creatures however they want. Their mechanical units are mostly automated with only their biggest machines having any amount of crew which is still nebulous in how many are actually in them as the command mothership in 5 is mostly made up of turrets and when destroyed only a single alien remains.

This is the 4th iteration of EDF. There is a 5th here in the west with a 6th out in Japan and otw to the west.

God discovered humanity building weapons and mucking up his planet, says “not this time”, sends armies of things, humanity goes “bring it on motherBLEEP” and then the fan is barraged by poop. To top it all off, GOD HAS TIME TRAVEL!!!!!

What your thinking about sir is a rpg (rocket propelled grenade) but a grenade launcher has a 20 meter arm distance minimum in the grenade if it hits anything in that 20 meter distance it stops arming the grenade. So im sorry sir but you’re wrong!

well realistically all you need to kill a planet is something called a relativistic kill vehicle
aka push something to the fraction of the speed of light and make it hit a planet enough to kill that planet.
but fictionwise thats not as fun. its like the whole melee vs guns thing and mechs.

on a side note there are some fun options for invasion plots that mildly make sense if albeit contrived lol. that said resource is never a good reason for an invasion plot not unless they want biomatter.
