“Don’t ever lose sight of your love of music.” And he knew, after as long a career as his, that this love of music will be tested. It will be tested every time that you promise yourself, “This will be the best album I’ll ever mix/engineer/produce,” only to have other producers and the artist and their posse offer their opinions on what the album should be like and you get outvoted. Sometimes you have to play along with others, sometimes you have to argue on your behalf. Through all of this, you may forget why you got involved in The Music Business, until you remembered that at one time, you loved music…unless you’re lucky enough to still be in love with it. I hope he always held onto that. RIP. ❤
