Being stuck in a bus with smokers is a hard no from me! Noise isn't the end of the world with noise-cancelling headphones at least.

It's really tough travelling in the Balkans with all the smoke! The hotels and apartments smell like cigarettes, the cafes, restaurants, even arcades! I guess it was like that in the 80s in the UK, and half of the 90s too, but you really notice it since they banned smoking indoors back in around 2003 haha! It's definitely difficult!!

​@@s34nTravels I used to be a bingo caller back in the day, and I experienced the transition in the UK from smoking indoors to no smoking indoors. When I used to be stood on the stage, it would be like a misty veil between me and the assembled bingo creatures below me. I was always having coughing fits, and regularly needed to get fresh air. When the ban came in, two things happened. One was that I could finally breathe, and as a consequence, could also see my customers because of it. The other was that in a span of a few months, attendance to our club essentially halved. Pros and cons of big decisions I suppose! Japan was a revelation for me in terms of smoke. I just didn't experience it. You can't even smoke on the street in Tokyo, except in designated spots, so second-hand smoke does not happen there. It was a revelatory experience.
