I’m Fern! A 20-something gal living on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada with my partner, our 2 dogs, and around 200 houseplants. Plants have changed my life - I love tending to them and sharing the joys and discoveries of my planty journey online. I am passionate about all things living and I have been vegan for over 5 years - it was the best decision I’ve ever made. For those into astrology, I am a gemini sun, scorpio moon, & libra rising. Fern you do SOO much for us it’s insane. And due to that I think a lot of us would advocate along side you to aid your mental health and take time off if you need! You’re such a beautiful person inside and out, your content reflects that and your schedule reflects hard work! I completely understand how you feel, Fern. My ex and I broke up, we owned the house together, and then the pandemic hit and it took a year for me to be able to move out.
It was hard, it got messy, it got complicated. I completely lost, and doubted myself, but in the end it worked out.
Miraculously, we worked out our issues and managed to stay friends which i don't think would have happened if I didn't have to stay in the same space as him.
I know it's hard, but you're doing your best, and that's what counts.
Take time to be sad and stressed, but don't live in that headspace. Get back to focusing on you and being the best you. It will all work out. You will find somewhere, it just might not happen as quick as you like but when it does 😍 you'll be so happy. The perfect place will find you 💕
Since you mentioned you’re concerned about aging now. When you massage those creams on your neck -you might want to massage upwards instead of down .
You want to lift your skin up, not pulling it down.
True! And always massage in towards the tear duct when doing under eyes, not out towards ears 🥰
Maybe to help occupy your mind and get the moving process started, get a storage unit near Victoria and move some stuff there. That way you can jump into a rental ASAP, plus it’ll give you a little space away, and make moving easier

My husband I are in the US and are also really struggling to find a decent home in our price range that doesn't go before we even get to see them.
The struggle is so frustrating and I hope that you find a really great home that will be even better than what you had been looking at. You deserve the mental peace of your own space.

Fern! It's okay to complain about your job - even the "dream job" has its perks and its downfalls. Also re: the leasing - it's really tough. We were just looking for a new place, and we ran into that as well. The hope is that the market will cool down eventually. I remember at one point you mentioning that the students were coming back - a lot of students I think are looking late this year, which is contributing to the pressure! Stay strong! I wouldn't really recommend signing a place without looking at it, unless the vibes are 100%. One of the places I saw that looked beautiful in the picture was an absolute nightmare when you saw it in person, and had a tree (!!) growing in the basement. You're doing great- hang in there, hopefully you're in a place soon!

Fern - someone else I watch on RUclips shared that they were told by someone who works at RUclips that putting out too many videos can actually end up hurting your channel, because the new video basically bumps the previous one out of promotion before people have seen it. (Personally I watch every video you post regardless but just a thought and a bit of permission to rest a bit if you need it!)

The “post pandemic” (if we can even call it that LOL) housing/rental prices are insane. Literally nuts. It should be illegal. In the states it’s really bad as well and with not as much assistance :/ I totally understand the frustration and stress you’re goin through!
Its really disgusting that the landlords, big corps, and state governments are just economically raping the dirty huddled masses for all they are worth! It sickens me to my very core as well as blackens my soul!! And whats worst is that the common folk are doing it to each other!?!?!? What have we become in the USA??
fern, i was in the pretty much EXACT same situation about 2 months ago. had been living with someone for over 2 years who made me so miserable, i was chomping at the bit to find my own place. it took forever, but i finally found one and i finally got out of that situation. just remember that everything will fall into place and make sense later down the road. you’re so close to being out of that uncomfy situation, don’t lose hope! this is just part of your life path, find the deeper meaning and what is this trying to teach you? sending you lots of love, positive energy, and healing. you WILL make it out.

Might be the best optional to sign a lease before viewing it properly, especially for a year or less lease. It's not ideal, but my partner did it, we were across the country height of Covid last year needing to move ASAP. Everywhere kept being swept up by the time we would be able to get time off for viewing. Is the house the best, no, but with plants and books and pictures, artwork and our cat it's really not bad and feels like home. And now there's time and not as much pressure looking for somewhere else. Really wishing the best for you and sending all the love and good vibes

I feel you soo sooooo much. I broke off my engagement this year and because of COVID and housing and just logistics I also had to stay living with my ex for 6 months. We had a dog together and were renting a house with a yard in the city, which is near impossible to find now. So I stayed. Just a few months ago I left our house and moved in with my mom and the dog because I just couldn’t stay in that space with my ex anymore. Currently living 4hrs from where I work, commuting, and trying desperately to find my own place as well. It’s hard, and so disheartening... but trying to just stay positive and look forward to the perfect space that will come my way right when it’s meant to, that I can make my own sanctuary : ) here for you girl

This is just the reality of the housing market. If you arent quick to sign a lease the same day, you’re being too slow. At least that’s how it is in my area/state.

You don't need to be worried about aging if The Ordinary is around your area. You will age gracefully. Such a national treasure of Canada. Very popular here also in Indonesia. Some of my favorites are the NMF Moisturizer, 10% AHA Glycolic Acid, both The Buffet serum, EUK, Pycnogenol, their Retinol series, and all of their Vitamin C. Super skincare. Their higher line Niod is even crazier.

Sometimes it takes the mind extra time to make sense of its human neuroses.... hence sleeping late...I find its easier to just go with it and not worry about it cuz that can make thing worst!?!?! You mentioned having a hard time doing anything in your down time and girl, if that wasn't me! I heard once someone say the best advice they were ever given was to just DO the task if it will take 10 minutes or less, don't put it off. It really applied to procrastinating but I've seen how successful that was for me and so I just applied that to my whole life. I get so much more done! And I find that if I am more than 10 minutes in but not finished, I usually just keep going until I'm done!

With the place I’m currently in we had to sign before even looking at the place and I think that’s what a lot of people are doing. A lot of students my husband knows are doing the same thing. Sadly I think that’s one of the few ways to get a place rn :(

I’m in Kelowna which is also insane when it comes to rentals. My living situation was deteriorating (I was in a main floor suite with the owner above. Lovely people, but it went from him and his mom, to a wife and two small kids) it got really loud and hectic and ultimately I was losing my privacy and many of the features I was paying for. My friend happened to tell me at the perfect time about some new condos going up and I managed to purchase one before the pandemic. I honestly think had that not happened I’d be so screwed. These rents on one income and with pets is a scary place to be. Good luck in your search!

👉🏻 In the U.S. we can use a Realtor for the rental process. They often have access to available units before they are released to the public. Don't know if you can try that where you are??

Ah girl the housing crisis is a mess in BC right now! I have a few students trying to do post secondary, and there isn't any housing available on campus, and being a ferry ride away from 90% of the schools means they need to wait until there is housing available :( it's nutty. I'm so sorry it's effecting you this way too 😓❤

Ngl, moving to a new state or city here in the US, I’ve signed leases and moved sight unseen twice. It’s unfortunate but sometimes the only option, and you just hope that the info/pics they posted are accurate.

Planet Fitness has the worst equipment ever. Like please, sweet baby Jesus, just put in a squat rack 🤣 I had to switch back to the gym with all the meat heads. In case you didn't know too, turermeric helps with muscle recovery! I like to make golden milk lattes 🤤
