In the 1960's I traveled on several Italian Line ships, in addition to other lines. The Italian ships were exactly like this, after dinner music, entertainment and dancing in the ballroom (no ship had passengers dancing on the bow). These were oceanliners, seaworthy ships crossing the Atlantic, cruise ships today are nothing like oceanliners of the past. There was fine dining, fine service and a few hundred passengers who got to know each other if only for a few days, and no passenger dressed like a Walmart shopper, people had standards back then..
@James Allen he obviously means that people actually dressed for the occasion, rather than just wearing beach/summer clothes like people on cruises do today. In my opinion an era where the journey was equally as important as the destination. These days its all soulless "transport"
@James Allen ^ Considering they support a greedy abusive bloated business which treats its workers like slaves and pauperizes them and have a reputation for public misconduct and misbehavior, yeah, they pretty much are. In many cases, yeah, you are where you shop.
Such a lovely, classy, captivating opening song, I have loved for close to 20 yrs!!! Who would have imagined the melody wound conclude in a daunting, grim, diabolical scene!!!!!
What a DOLL! The first time I saw ghost ship I was mesmerized by her. And I've never heard Senza Fine like that. She is a siren. I'm sure she could lead any man down an elevator shaft if he wasn't careful
I like to imagine an alternate scenario where the demon that killed them all never existed and the ship made it to America in one piece. As a result, Katie got reunited with her parents and lived a long and happy life.
ryan macdonald Fun Fact: In the original first draft, Katie had a sister and her parents were on the ship, and Ferrimen’s character didn’t exist. The Ship would sink at the end from collision with some rocks, not from a C4 explosion.
Yet she was completely onboard with the plan of killing everyone aboard just to get some gold... all because she found Jack Ferriman charming? Suggests the facade she put on was just a front for a more dark persona underneath. Still love her character though, probably the most memorable character of the film
I agree, but I still felt bad for the innocent people who got stuck in that horror moment, for example the little girl she was just being a child and being taught or having fun by dancing with the captain of the ship, and well... if you seen the film you know what happens next. So sad but a needed scene in the film from an artist stand point.

I had believed for many years until now that Francesca Rettondini was the singer, but she was not. The voice belongs to Monica Mancini. Anyway, this voice seems to be perfect to Francesca, doesn't it?
I knew it could never be Francesca's voice because it has an accent. Monica Mancini's voice is divine and I love it but a native italian would never sing with that accent.

What a great beautiful romantic song. I love the singer and her sensual voice She lends a feel of class to the ambiance in the ballroom....this song was the main theme song of the terror movie GHOST SHIP. You do not wish to see what comes at the end of the song after the singer encourages everyone to go and dance....

More sad about the old captain dying tbh. He was actually a good man, Francesca was ok with killing a ship load of people for some gold when she was presumably already wealthy from her performances aboard the ship
Nah. I don't REALLY want the dress. Because as long as I DON'T have it, I can still imagine, "Aw... I would look like that, if only I had that red dress..." lol 🤣

And also, I believe they did that on purpose, the words the used, while not Italian, made sense to an English audience.
