In general I totally understand that the musicians on this show are writing songs for other artists and stuff, but if I wrote this particular song? You would have to pry it from my cold dead fingers before I let anybody else get their hands on it. That's a once-in-a-lifetime hook, you can't give that away to someone else

I really liked the "I'm confessing" line and wished they didn't cut it out from the lyrics. It's a big display of vulnerability and boldness, and it's such an intimate moment to fully confess something out loud to the person you love (and maybe even the whole world).
I feel like the message that the songwriter wanted to convey changed when they made revisions to his lyrics. I mean the new version is good but somehow it made me sad that the meaning of the song changes. Especially loved “i saw the rest of my life with one look in you eyes”

I like this tender version...Makes a reallly romantic slow dance song. I figure FGL is more of that straight-singing, no BS, sincere type of style, after listening to the released version and seeing that he preferred to match the note in the second verse to the verse instead of falling down a note. The falling down makes it more tender and introspective. Another kind of sincere and heart-warming. Personally, I like the softer approach.
I think the most frustrating part of this for me is Ester saying "I saw the rest of my life with one look in your eyes" was the best part (it was) and then they removed that line in the end product lol. I love this version, this is my single favorite song from this show. His version of it.

All you people complaining about the changes - the whole purpose of the show is to change the submitted song so that it is appropriate for the performer. If a songwriter’s lyrics are too personal, they won’t work for many artists. Or the tempo is not right. Stuff like that. This is true songwriting collaboration that you are seeing here. This is how you make hit records which is what they are trying to do. Pretty sure he’ll be able to still have the rights to perform it himself acoustically.
I get what you are saying but honestly, originals are a lot better. Over producing has become an issue in today's music. I have seen countless bands lose "their sound" to appease studios, and they become generic and lose the uniqueness that makes them and their songs a hit. Even on this show you see it. I have seen multiple originals that were way better than the remakes. Like "Sway" that was better as an original.

Songland, please put the original songs on iTunes and the produced versions of all songs, not just the winning song. This version of the song speaks right to me! ❤❤❤❤ I hear it and think of the moment I saw my husband for the first time. Everyone before him had me "second guessing" the relationship.. identifying red flags, but with my husband there were no red flags - "Lord knows I tried..." finding them. Just wow, great song!
