ABOUT SONGLAND
"Songland" serves as a destination for music's biggest stars to find their next hit. The series is an authentic peek into the process of songwriting and provides one winner per episode the opportunity to have their song released by chart-topping artists. Season 2 guest recording artists include Boyz II Men, Florida Georgia Line, Luis Fonsi, H.E.R., Lady A, Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher. Four songwriters will perform their original tracks in front of the guest artist and three of the most successful producers in music - Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic and four-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer), Ester Dean (Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer) and Shane McAnally (three-time Grammy-winning songwriter and producer). In the end, a winner will be chosen and their song will be recorded and released for a global audience.

Kylie's original version is a spectacularly vivid portrayal of loneliness. Haunts me. I hope it gets recorded someday exactly as she wrote it. We all want to be remembered. When she sings, "Did he ever really want me..." That got me.

This original is truly amazing. Love how the drum beat goes up tempo in the middle of the chorus. Every time I listen to this song it does give that “lonely” feeling in a big city. They shouldn’t have changed this song. I would love to hear the long version of the original!!

This is an amazing song. Ghost is great too but honestly this is better. I’m surprised it’s not getting more traction. It’s just haunting and powerful. Of course Adele could blow it up. But it deserves a wide audience.

I LOVE everything about her version so much more than the Songland version!! I don't know how anyone could not. It's like they kill the soul of these songs. Just rip the humanity right out of it and send it to robot land LOL. That said, there were some cool things about the newer version.

Is song gave me chills and the remake just made me so upset it was all changed! I still come back to this and listen over and over. Purely amazing and never should have been changed! Even the melody’s at the end that just give you chills, didn’t even make the cut 😩 disappointed

I loved it when they changed the tempo to a softer, more gentle production. I do wish they had kept the line "I always know just how to let me down". That line hit like no other. The changes worked but that should have stayed.

The original version is much better than the rewrite! I just could not get into the new version produced by Ester. Something about her original just touches the soul of anyone who has ever felt lonely which is probably most people. It’s so relatable and her voice is beautiful. I wish someone would record this version with her singing.

somehow i like the original version better than the Ghosts one. the original gave me chills. I wish they only made a few lyric changes that they originally discussed and left it more intact (lonely had a nice melancholy and very relatable in these times!) .i didn't like the backing choir in the new version cuz i wanted to hear kylie sing it. i also like the whoo-oo-oo's which they took out :(.
